Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2 New Info (Shops, Rat Form, Time Travel....)

Source to site (not in English)

Apparently, these are some highlights translated according to Nagumo on the CVD forums:

- At some point you can find an egg in the game. After it hatches, a small flying monster will search for secrets, possibly meaning secret areas and/or items.
- "Some sort of dwarf" (I'm guessing the Chupacabra) will set up shop in the castle. Here you will be able to buy both regular and unique items. At some point you can unlock here "something that will constitute a large part of the gameplay, but Cox is not allowed to talk about yet".
- The beginning of the game will take mostly in the castle, and apparently lasts quite some time.
- You can turn into a rat to avoid enemies.
- You can take over the bodies of enemies to get past modern security.
- You can freely travel between past and present using portals.

The translated highlights come courtesy of Castlevania Dungeon forums.

The birdy from the egg goes to look for secrets, not items (in particular). So perhaps it flies next to walls that can be broken or something?

Also, Cox says he's never played a DMC game before.

Thanos acquires the fully powered Infinity Gauntlet in The Avengers: Infinity War, but loses when all the superheroes team up together to stop him.
Huh, Gabe doesn't look very Drac-like in that shot.

Ah ok, thanks for the correction. I'll edit the post to read the correct info.

I had read that the time travel thing might be more like traveling between the castle and city and vice versa. Maybe the modern city is where the castle used to be in the past?

Also, I think the article mentions something about the castle itself being like a character and that it grows or something. We all know that the castle is supposed to be a demonic being which is why it changes throughout the years and the game apparently plays on this.

If anyone here can read Dutch, would love if you could translate at least some of the more important parts of the article.

getting the artbook for sure.

lords of shadow is probably my favorite western action game. and certainly has the best art design in the genre overall this gen too tbh.

I've been ready for this since October. I'm glad it sounds like they're changing up the standard gameplay formula.

I fell in love with the art direction in LOS, found myself taking screenshots all the time; I feel it is legitimately great.

It's honestly illustrates (pun intended) rather well how having more nationalities making games can only be a good thing.

Game for damn sure would not look the way it does if it was done by say, a japanese or american studio.

Granted, I haven't been following this game very closely outside of the handful of trailers they've released but wouldn't legit time travel maybe make sense since we had a non vampire Carmilla talking to a Dracula-fied Gabriel?

I'm really excited for this game. LoS was really my first Castlevania game and I picked it up on a whim when it came out on PC since I loved what I saw from the art. Just a really fun game and truly amazing to look at. The visuals alone kept me going in the game more often than not, wondering what awesome vista or character design I'd come across next.

The time travel might work where the castle exists in the past and the city exists in the present. That's my guess. Carmilla still looks like a vampire in the trailers to me even if she looks very different from her more creepier image in the first LoS1.

And the time travel is easily explained as it's already been mentioned many times Frankenstein and/or the Toymaker has a time machine hidden away in the castle. Dracula will probably come across it in his castle in this game.

Kinda silly that now that he is Dracula, Gabriel would still need to shop for items, well he better have a "Dark Lord" discount or something or be like:

Shopkeeper Demon: "Ah that crissaegrim would cost you $50.000 gold"

Dracula: "Sure! Lemme just get my wallet and....SOUL STEAL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

Shopkeeper Demon: Ah shit!"

Dracula: "Yeeeeeeeaaaaaaahhh!"

Ask me about the moon landing or the temperature at which jet fuel burns. You may be surprised at what you learn.

Can't be as bad as Death having to shop for items and being an errand boy in Darksiders 2.

Turn into a rat to avoid enemies? Seriously?

Hopefully they eliminate the tedious puzzles from the game. There were so bad in LoS.

Most anticipated game in the first half of the year right after Dark Souls 2. I wish there was a physical collector's edition for the PC version, but oh well.

Back to Lords of Shadow!

This game keeps looking better and better.

I enjoyed the puzzles in LoS... the first time. Having to repeat them in subsequent playthroughs was annoying, at that point I just did them on autopilot.

Ok so this isn't really related to this thread, but i figured i'd bump the most recent thread with my question,so:

I watched a playthrough of the demo, and there was no focus bar and the new versions of the shadow and light magic were regenerating rather quickly on their own. Do we know if it'll be like that in the final release, because i remember the e3 and gamescom presentations, where focus etc. were still present

Really enjoyed the first one. Any news on Mirrors of Fate coming to PC? Hoping it comes out before this game does, if not I'll jump on the 360/ps3 version.

No, you have unlimited magic in the demo, which is also the tutorial sequence. For the rest of the game, you have the focus meter and need to refill light and dark magic with it.
