Final Fantasy X -Will- and FFX-2.5 plot discussion thread [Up2: Uh, um, errr, see OP]

You think so? When I saw that picture yesterday in that other thread, I thought it looked more like Rinoa than Yuna. I still think that it looks like a more mature Rinoa. I genuinely can't see any resemblance to Yuna in it.

It looks like a more mature Yuna to me. The fact that it's paired with Tidus Jecht should be a dead give away... no?

I'm not arguing it isn't Yuna. It's obvious that it's supposed to be her.

I'm just saying she's morphed into Rinoa in terms of looks. She's gone the way of Tifa.

Designs look great.

But seriously, a break up/make up storyline? Really? For a girl who went to the ends of the goddamn earth to bring the guy she loved back and they were nothing but happy in the first extension you made of said ending? Come on, son.

Washing my hands of anything Final Fantasy.

I'm sure it's a lie) when the 2 protagonists are spying a convo between them, she is jealous about some Tidus' friend (Marufi - a friend according to him). Then, she tells him she doesn't care anymore and apparently got another person she likes. Weird enough, he just ask: Who?, which she replies "Someone you don't know."

I laughed at this.

They haven't matured at all lol.

Literally any fan made plot can sound better than the current story trajectory laid out for FF X-3. Here's one I just thought of.

Tidus and Yuna get married, later they have a son and daughter. Something worse than Sin starts attacking Spira. Tidus' and Yuna's son is killed. Years pass, some people in Spira believe they need Aeons again, some believe they don't. Tidus/Yuna's 17 year old daughter wants to become a new age summoner or soldier and avenge her brother's death. Tidus will have some shades of Auron in him, due to being in his late 30's. Yuna will be similar to her past self but maybe more jaded and skeptical.

Tidus/Yuna/Daughter are the main characters. I'd play a game like this in a instant. Cut a lot of the romance shit out, include classic tragedy or drama, develop and mature existing characters, introduce unique new characters. Making a sequel to FFX should not be rocket science or amount to some soap opera epic.

Interesting that tidus has adopted his old mans style
Or is that in fact Jecht with Tidus' mom?

I dunno, the more I think about this, the more I'm genuinely curious about how they would write X-3. A sane writer that would come up with the plot for it would get Tidus and Yuna back together in the end...but this is Square Enix, so there's no telling. I don't think they would marry her off to someone else and essentially end Tidus' life (that would alienate the rest of the fanbase that they have left).

But really...eh. I'll reserve final judgment until I can view/listen to the audio drama myself in March. I am looking forward to diving back into the world of Spira again (I clocked close to 100 hours in FFX, can't wait to do it again).

It directly follows about 20 different art pieces of Tidus and Yuna together, so by context I'd have to assume it's not Rinoa, but I get where you're coming from.

I don't speak Japanese, or really know if i can trust the summary by the OP. However, judging from hints like jealousy, and Lulu telling Tidus he doesn't understand Yuna. It kinda seems like a fake break up.

Maybe to fool people, something to do with the plot? Idk. We shall wait and see, clearly.

Sounds like FFX tier writing. Relegating the better of the two games to a bad dream because it dared to have a hapoy ending is hilarious.

Already better than the audio drama tripe.

$10 says SE does some time travel stuff in X-3's ending that transports them to FFVII's era leading to an audio drama about FFVII pointing to a remake.

(The sad thing is I wouldn't be shocked if SE actually did this, though. x_x)

I'd really like a prequel set in the time period shown in FFX-2. When Zanarkand was an actual city and there was a big war going on. There was so little told, that you can effectively create a new story without any chains holding you back. Plus, it just seems like a much more interesting setting. New characters, different time period, different story, familiar world. What was Spira like at that time and so on? It's like having something fresh to work. It's obvious we're not getting that. SE is likely creating a cash grab of sorts with a smaller budget than what would likely be given to a mainline game. FFX-3 will have a tough time feeling organic because it's a sequel and there will be an inevitable 'tacked on' feeling to it.

Another Nomura phoned in job.
I might be making this up, but if I remember correctly, didn't he say that Rinoa's design is his favourite? Or something like that? I swear I've read that on GAF somewhere.

I was kind of thinking that since at the end of X-2 all the factions still exist, but are now trying to work together, maybe X-3 could have instead been about shaping the world instead of saving it.

Put Yuna at the head of the council that New Yevon/Youth League/Machine Guild/etc would presumably have to make to work out their differences and focus on a reconstruction/redevelopment storyline. You have to solve their disagreements, procure resources to rebuild, decide on a direction for the world that fits the needs of as many as possible while managing the expectations of minority groups.

Then for the personal element there's Yuna dealing with her position, the return of Tidus, and the general state of all the relationships and organizations/groups she's gotten herself into since the start of the series.

There were also still monsters everywhere despite Sin disappearing so that element wouldn't have issues staying.

I realize it's a bit not... overly Final Fantasy-ish, but it at least goes in a new direction for the Spira-verse, which by the third game doesn't strike me as a horrible idea.

That artwork does look pretty good.

If they do make a X-3, which I still don't want but I fear it's going to be inevitable, I do hope they use that art. Not do a X-2 where everyone besides the main three is still wearing the exact same outfit. -.-

Nomura's concept art always looks better than the actual ingame models IMO. Even his version of XIII-3 Lightning doesn't look too bad.

If we get to see these redesigns in 3D I hope they don't botch them too much.

CAN WE GO BACK FARTHER THEN?

I can I get a 9-2 please?

Or Advent Children turned into a game?

I'm a huge fan of 9, but I'd rather have them do 8-2
where we'll finally find out that Rinoa=Ultimecia. Not that I like that theory, but it has major sequel potential.

Fuckkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk this.

Yuna/Tidus was one of the few videogame relationships I actually cared about. S-E shitting on it is mind-blowingly stupid.

S-E is so creatively bankrupt.

Final Fantasy is the new Kingdom Hearts.

Everybody is Rinoa. Ten years from now, this post will be prophetic.

It already has been. Just look at the FFVII compilation. Or, if you're 12, the FFVII constipation.

This is why I don't want them revisiting any of their old games ever.

On a side note, it's also why I don't want Megaman Legends 3. I mean, Capcom isn't as bad as Square yet, but all things considered, including the fact that the original team wouldn't be doing it, I don't want to see Megaman Legends 3 or anything similar with any other old franchise.

Your idea is terrible.

It makes way too much sense and it is painfully lacking in melodrama.

This ain't Spira Tactics.
