I'm curious to see if they give out any sales targets later.

Given the localization delay length, they would probably have to decide based upon the Japanese sales as they would have to start Bravely Third well before Bravely Second hit the West.

Bravely Second. He says 2014 is an important year due to this situation, and FTS came out in 2013.

Depending on how the second installment turns out, I'm not sure if it will even fair better than the first game though, considering SE's direct sequels tend to falter in sales.

Secondly, I feel S-E is pretty much threatening their fanbase with things like this and making the expansion pack for the first (For the Sequel) sound like a charity fundraising/kickstarter. It's all pretty upsetting to see that the Japanese RPG scene has fell so far that this is one of maybe half a dozen good RPGs and thus S-E are treating it as some special 'old school' pastiche of a pastiche and that we should be grateful and do exactly what they say and buy it and buy the expansion called 'buy it for the next game'.

It's also strange that after one game they're talking about it as though it's some legendary series. The FF4HoL never saw such obsessive fanfare from S-E. It's all desperation on a false heritage/premise.

And after all of this - they aren't a charity - they're a company - all the money from this could be funnelled into some FF blackhole...

Heck, I'm willing to import it, even if I can't play it. All I want after that is that they localise Bravely Second. Really, I hope so, absolutely loved Bravely Default.


Btw, don't mess up Square-Enix. I mean, really, don't mess up. Like, make advertisments and no microtransaction crap, if you want it to sell.

BD sold more than 300k in Japan. But in West, we don't know yet.

That's a reasonable stance, yet again, just because SE are not a charity, and making games costs money, there's nothing outrageous in them saying 'if you like this game, and you want more of that, buy it'.

Pretty sure that as long as it sells half decently they will keep milking it, this is current SE we're talking about.

But they love to beg/blackmail for sales. Of course if things sell well you will keep making them (and sometimes you don't even need good sales to stuff Lightning down our throats) SE, don't be silly and repeat this every single time.

Well lets just say its a good thing the decisive game is the second one since it didn't ake the Top 40 in UK iirc. I think they should advertise it and now that its a relatively recognised franchise western sales should be even better.

UK sales are meaningless to SE. SE didn't want to localise the game anyway. Only Japanese sales decide whther the series continues; we just might not get it in the west.

Meanwhile it's completely sold out in most of mainland Europe. European numbers aren't telling a whole lot, since Nintendo never shipped enough copies of the game in the first place.
