Xbox One Launch Thread [Thread being archived 1/1/14]

I was referring to the sharpening filter and crushed blacks added in the post-processing. It makes the game looks worse. 1080p would be nice, though.

Yeah, I know. Dead Rising 3 has the same weird filter. Devs should use the Crytek's upscaling. Ryse looks gorgeous and it's "only" 900p.

OS optimization is inevitable. I'm more interested if we'll see patches that improves a game's graphics. It must be possible with the Xbox One as every single game file is stored and loaded from the hard disk. If it's financial feasible is a second question.

I want bitrate options for the recorded videos. Ultra-fast rendering and uploading is nice and all but I'd wait a couple minutes longer for something with better quality.

Hey guys, I didnt want to read through 400 pages however I recent got an Xbox One for Christmas and I updated it proceed to customize it and then finally decided to install the game however,

1) The game (BF4) is taking forever to install ( 5 hrs passed and it stuck on 9%)
2) I decided to install it offline but it won't let me.

Anyway around this. Much help will be appreciated. Thanks

I wish I could help you but I installed all my games offline right from the start. It's taking long for you because MS is forcing updates in the install process. Just terrible.

Did it notify you of a patch? I believe those download first, so depending on your internet speed, it could be painfully slow.

What's your download speed?

If you have low download bandwidth, large patches may take a long time.

When I started it up I had to download approx 600 MB update. That was the only thing I needed to download ( that didn't take long) however this installation is taking forever, didnt notify me of a patch or anything.

My coworker is saying Titanfall is delayed again to Fall 2014. I can't find any info about this supposed announcement. What is the release date on this?

Well five hours sounds like far too long relative to the 600mb update. Maybe its a long shot but you may have some luck restarting the console.

Been googling the problem, ppl have suggested that I hold the power button for 10 seconds then try installing it offline

some have suggested trying suggesting resetting back to factory

just wondering if anyone on the forum did this and if it was successful?

"Installing" is the X1 term for downloading as well as the actual install process, I've noticed. Slower or high traffic times for your internet is going to make it take awhile as it gets all current updates before/during/after. Also, try hard rebooting (hold console power button seven-ish seconds).

Hard booting the console is always a good thing to try unless you're in the middle of a firmware update for some reason.

I have a feeling the noise cancellation tech they demoed is just for games. I was playing Dead Rising 3 earlier today at a pretty loud volume — and this isn't an exaggeration — I could pretty much mumble my commands and it would hear them.

I have noticed that, I don't have complaints about kinect but it does miss xbox on commands etc. sometimes. "Xbox record that"? It hears me 100% of the time, no matter what game, how loud, how many people

I'm still waiting for the launch :( Can't believe MS is so silent on the matter. When is the next big gaming event where a new launch announcement might be made?

Joking aside, MS has handled the postponed launch like shit. Just like pretty much all of their communication about the Xbox One since forever. I imported my X1 and if you really want one you should too. Since you're in Sweden like me then import from Germany. We use the exact same power and sockets. No extra adapter needed.

It's even more annoying when the rumor for the delay is that the voice recognition isn't translated yet even though I'd say that everyone in their target audience can easily speak english good enough for Kinect commands over here.

About importing though. Is it possible to buy stuff from Xbox Marketplace with a regular swedish VISA? Or do you need to have a german VISA? I don't want to be stuck using gift cards.

It seems weird to me that Sunset Overdrive is coming in under a year from now and we have seen literally NOTHING from the actual game. We hardly even know anything about it.

eh? yes...but why not buy stuff from the US store? Much cheaper that way...

Would it be bad to plug leave my Eneloops in the controller when I use a cord? They're Ni-MH and the battery from the Play and Charge kit is a Lithium Ion, so I'm wondering if that would be bad for my batteries.

Mostly because US iTunes store refused to work with my swedish VISA a long time ago, I haven't kept myself updated on that subject I simply thought it was the same with Xbox Marketplace. If it really does work I'll definitely start buying everything that way, it'll be almost half price with the weak USD.

It does work, I buy all my digital games from the US store with my swedish CC

You'll most likely have to activate your visa for the US (disabled as a security measure).
I just do it with a PayPal account.

I don't believe for a second that this game (or Quantum Break) will come out in 2014.

It seems so, at least I can access all my videos even the ones I didn't upload manually from the Smartglass app even if the console is off. Although the ones it uploaded autmatically all have 0 views so I think it may not be showin up somewhere, where the others do.

damn, guess I gotta maintain my thing like crazy

That's fantastic! I did a quick check, correct me if I'm wrong, with the current currency rate you pay like 350 kr or so for a full priced digital game? That's seriously tempting! Is it possible to get PS+ that way too? But not on a swedish PS4 right? I'll definitely look into importing a XB1 anyhow.

Do we want to have a monthly OT that includes updates and release dates?

I can make the home tile be the central release for that month. And topical jokes in the side tiles. I think it could work. Sort of like the pick up threads.

Friend is visiting town and surprised my family with a new XB1, an extra controller and Ryse. Was planning on picking one up, along with a PS4, when more games came out, but am totally happy to play it earlier :) Will likely look to grab DR3 and KI in the next few days.

Finally finished Ryse, the last 2 chapters were great. Well the 2nd to last was probably the best out of the entire game and the last 15-20 minutes of the last chapter was pretty amazing. The game didn't deserve the negativity around it, was it on the short side and was the combat somewhat the same, yes. But it has some decent depth especially on harder difficulties and it was a great ride with a pretty good story that I enjoyed quite a bit.

Maybe not worth 60 bucks, but I would take it at 40 easily. Such a great game. Oh, and the MP is pretty fun.
