I eagerly await an update to the 3DS LL hardware. Even though Nintendo is still selling a ton load of them, I think it's time for a re-design.

shiet I'm scared.

What's there to fix except the bad speakers (yes sometimes I'm an earphone-less heathen)

Battery life if its a premium model

Overall streamlining of the design, aesthetics- and ergonomics-wise

Screen scratching.

Built-in circle pad pro? Probably not.

Anyone done the math on Wii U total Japanese hardware sales for the month of December?

Gotta be somewhere between 350 and 500k right? Not too shabby. I imagine it probably did at least 500k in NA. Around a million worldwide units for Dec. is not bad at all.
Media Create Japan Dec 02 - Dec 08 48,762
Media Create Japan Dec 09 - Dec 15 74,903
Media Create Japan Dec 16 - Dec 22 109,113
Media Create Japan Dec 23 - Dec 29 73.178
Media Create Japan Dec 30 - Jan 05 51.271
Total: 357.227

It's a disaster, not enough to even catch up with the GameCube.

NOA:

2011: 3DS
2012: 3DS XL
2013: 2DS
2014: ?

I don't think we will have to wait too long for 3DSi.

3DS to 3DS XL was 17 months.
3DS XL to 2DS was 14 months.

Going by that, there's little chance hardware iteration will launch this year, especially since 2DS isn't out in Japan.

Everything points to it not being around million in December.

It's a disaster, not enough to even catch up with the GameCube.

The dec 30-jan 05 week counts as 2014 week 1, so the december total should be 305,956.

Still underperforming to the GameCube. End year sales have failed to revitalize the WiiU.

Why are you trying to compare the holidays by LTD anyhow? If you're trying to compare the holidays, shouldn't you be using weekly numbers?

Nevermind the post above basically said what I was planning to say better.

Any idea what range of sales would Namco have been happy with when it came to Taiko on Wii U? It's finally past 100k according to every tracker (MC, Famitsu, Dengeki).

So, that Dengeki spreadsheet archive link was broken. It's now fixed to point to the correct Dropbox path.

Here is the correct link:

Dengeki Spreadsheet Archive
http://bit.ly/1eHC5zm

In that archive I uploaded a super-recent (updated today) copy of that spreadsheet that contains weekly total software sales / percentages for each platform and weekly total hardware sales / percentages for each platform.

The file is called DENGEKI - TOTAL SW + TOTAL HW (FY 2013-2014) (UPDATED THROUGH 2014-1-5) (BY AQUAMARINE FOR NEOGAF).xlsx, and the last time I put the updated file in there was late November...so an update is long overdue.

You see those pictures of the past ten weeks I uploaded in the Dengeki post? Well this spreadsheet gives you all of that information all the way back to the beginning of the fiscal year (April 1st, 2013 - January 5th, 2014).

Also, after 5 weeks, GE2 Vita was the 4th best selling game on PSN in 2013. It surely has done over 400k on Vita alone.

I'd wait for actual DL numbers, if anything doing 40k DL in 5 week would be exceptional, I seriously doubt it actually did that. Especially since it wasn't supply constrained. Although I'm sure Namco is very happy with the sales anyway.

Really? I'd be really surprised if they bothered with a 3DS version. That would limit the local multiplayer potential for the game (same reasonning as to why MH isn't multiplat)

Indeed it would depends on how much Namco cares, about those extra 3Ds sales in comaparison to the sales they'll get from the Vita. Certainly risky from a IP's future point of view either way.

Depends on how long they're looking also, with this likely being Sony's last dedicated portable, do they plan to transition the franchise to mobile after this generation is over or to a Nintendo system.

I'm not sure what their plans are.

According to Famitsu, Rain sold 36k on PSN through the month of October in Japan. Rain did not chart in the top 10 J-PSN best sellers of 2013. God Eater 2 finished fourth, which indicates sales above 36k.

I'm ready. As I have been saying, GE2 has a respectable LTD between both platforms, but I can't help but feel like it should have sold more, and maybe Namco feels the same.

How would they limit the local multi-player by having it on the most popular platform? D:

God Eater 2 for 3DS would probably be well above 366k by now. It's not a random game with questionable art.

If you see a PS4 version this year you'll know the answer.

How exactly would Taiko on the PS4 even work? Just pushing buttons? I thought most of the appeal is that you were actually drumming. At least that was my experience when playing the game. Then again, do you just push buttons on the 3DS version?

Anyone done the math on Wii U total Japanese hardware sales for the month of December?

Gotta be somewhere between 350 and 500k right? Not too shabby. I imagine it probably did at least 500k in NA. Around a million worldwide units for Dec. is not bad at all.
The system did 345K between November 25th and December 29th, I really can't see it doing anywhere near 500K in the US, and even then a million units globally in December for a system's second year is crap.

The second one looks 15 years old, but hey, it's not questionable.

Fire emblem man, that game sold in the best in in it's series partly due to that. Can't really say ecchi doesn't sell. It's the fair more slightly niche brands which you may make an argument for.

That's actually very tame Nintendo sells this,

Maybe if people ask really hard, God Eater will be ported to 3DS.

Why would 3DS users want God Eater when they already have mainline Monster Hunter?

Man, Japan did not care for Mass Attack. Are there any mobile games that plays similar to Mass Attack? Find it a bit odd that nobody has tried to do a platformer this way on mobile devices.

Some people prefer God Eater.

But the series is very niche. On a platform with a very big install base and MH, it didn't break the 600k. I don't know why people think that it would break here and that they are dissapointed with the sales.
