I've always been disappointed that CoD ditched the EXP bar at the bottom, even though I think that was a fan-favorite decision.

I cant see how it would be, everyone who i used to play with hated the decision.
I loved the thing, I'm happy to see it return.

Its the little things :p

That AI is looking a lot more like Bots and a lot less like Creeps. Hopefully that's just 25% of AI brains as well.

I actually thought they look a lot like creeps. In the off screen video there is a point where like 10 pour out of a building all lined up. I laughed because it looked exactly like dota.

Edit: Nevermind, it was in the direct feed at

Those worried about 6 vs.6 have nothing to worry about. It's a perfect balance. The game is already hectic and high energy. You really won't notice the difference. The AI is pretty lackluster in the alpha though, and are very easy to kill. At least now, you can kill 4 at a time instantly (especially with the smart pistol's auto aim). It's how you quickly rack up points for your Titan I've found. I've also noticed some chugging in the FPS.

It's not so much the number of players but knowing that I killed over a dozen AI and only something like 5 to 6 players, is going to irritate me a bit. Hopefully there'll be a pilot vs. pilot only mode.

Why is that?

Part of the fun in multiplayer games is messing with people. Knowing that you're outperforming them and completely dominating them is an aspect that I enjoyed. With bots, you're diluting the pool a bit. Also if there are that many bots around, they can probably get in your way sometimes when you're about to kill another person.

when you spawn you get a little cadre of bots.. Dir often and they bunch up...

That's only natural though considering there will be twice as many, easier to kill, AI on the field as real players. Does it really matter? The kill count for pilots would probably be the same minus the AI anyway so what's the problem?

If the kill counts are the same without the bots then we have another COD Ghosts problem.

I'm willing to bet the AI scales up with you as your progress through ranks. You don't want AI no-scopin' ya when your level one.

I totally see where he's coming from, there's a certain satisfaction when you know every kill you get is someone else somewhere in the world. So when you sneak up to someone in a room and gun them down, you took them by surprise. Instead of it being a bot that just wasn't a threat anyway, or you may chase down someone and it ends up being just a bot. Stuff like that.

That said, it's the type of thing I need to play with a good amount to see how I feel. I'm still giving them the benefit of the doubt that they do serve a purpose in the gameplay wrinkle.

I can see them getting in the way a bit, but it shouldn't stop you from doing well in a given match, unless you mean being the center of attention and having each gunfight be between just you and the other player, outplaying them, which is what halo is.

If thats the case, i don't see why you couldn't, the pilots and parkour and the bots cant.
Meaning if a player is on a roof etc. its a player.

The kill counts aren't the same, in the other thread someone mentioned that they are separated by titan/player/grunts etc.

Sure. The AI has been pretty useless so far IMO. They are almost there to serve for racking up points. You use them to leverage how quick you can get a Titanfall. I haven't actually really noticed them in terms of them "cluttering" the map. But I can understand where you are coming from. I can honestly say, most of the kills you get are from AI and not human players. And most of the kills you will get of human players, is when you kill their Titan. It basically becomes a show down between Titans.

I find the balance questionable of Titans vs. Human. When I'm human, most of the time I'm just killing AI to get my points up. And as I said above, I feel like taking on other players only comes when I'm a Titan. I don't really see the benefit of being a human outside of quickly being able to traverse the maps.

Maybe you can use "perks" or whatever Xp system to upgrade the AI?

Just curiously in the final scorecards how are the scores displayed? Like is the total amount of grunt kills in a separate column from players killed (like CS in Dota) or are they treated as the same thing?

I haven't played Ghosts. What's the problem you're talking about?

I get that, but I don't see how AI ruins that since human players still exist. You can look at a pilot's name and know if he's AI or not. I understand not getting satisfaction out of killing a bunch of AI but they're purpose seems to be more for farming than kill satisfaction (for experienced players anyway). It's just a different approach than the traditional bot purpose which was to fill in as a complete substitute for real players.

EDIT: Also, I'm pretty sure all of these matches have been Attrition. I would bet the AI seem more useful in a Domination style point capture mode.

there is a domination mode which pops up from time to time.

I must suck cause the AI can and does kill me on occasion. Especially in large groups anchored by a pilot... Which they will guard.

plus its awesome double jumping into a crowd of them with the smart pistol. So much funny.

Ghosts has an insanely low player kill count per match (in that the top player is racking up a dozen kills roughly) to the point that the timer runs out on a good proportion of matches.

Ghosts also gets shit for having stupidly large maps. If Titanfalls maps are appropriately sized, it's not an issue.

Anyways, after watching the video, i'm kinda having a hard time trying to parse the AI. They might be decent foils, but I'm curious if they have another purpose. Like, someone else here mentioned that you see them kind of "swarm" out of a building like creeps do in a MOBA. I'm wondering if they help capture areas in that Hardpoint mode that they showed off at E3. If they do, that might be an incentive to try to "cut down" the creeps so your own can push forward or something.

And I know some Respawn guys here mentioned they serve different purposes and even have different character models, but it seems like it might be pretty easy to mistake one for a real player. I thought after E3 they were going to go further differentiate them and make them one of those human sized androids they showed off. Maybe you need the nuance of seeing them in game, but right now I can barely tell the difference between them and a pilot at first glance(and beyond using the radar)

That's very true. I'm sure perks and higher levels will add a lot more to things as well.

I think it's a great balance tbh. I really can't imagine it being any higher. Especially with regards to Titan's on a map. I think what people need to understand is, there is a strategy to getting as many Titans's as possible. You want to get more than 2 or 3, and stick together. So there is always a struggle to get Titan's out and to work with your team (and do it first before the other team does it). So this is why I think the 6 vs 6 works.

I can't imagine having 10 Titan's at a time, it would feel way too cluttered. Whereas realistically, in a match you usually get 3 vs 2 or 3 vs 3 at most. I haven't really seen many times where it's 6 titans vs. 6.

Right, if without the AI the player is only getting 10-15 max kills roughly per match then the maps might be too large. The problem is that they need those large maps for the Titans to move around in.

That's on top of the sidestep, reflect, sidestep, reflect fighting game business going on with the Titans. A quarter of the uploader's video was spent fighting 4 other dudes in Titans.

2 minutes in CoD isn't really trying to kill 4 dudes.

I just had the most ridiculous moment. I was in a Titan and saw a human player on the ground. I was shooting my missles at him and he decided to jetpack out of there. And just as a knee jerk reaction I pressed the punch button at the right moment, and my Titan punched him dead on and he went splat in the air. It was just crazy because it all happened so fast, that it felt like I just caught a fly with my bare hands.

The Titan vs Titan is definitely eating up some gameplay time but even assuming that we put some theoretical time in so the entire match was only player vs player, the kill count is going to be on the lower side. Part of that I'll chalk up to beginners and not knowing what exactly to do but I do think there should be some concern about the reduction in player vs player fighting.

This game will be amazing for "Xbox, record that" moments. Some of the shootouts I've had would be amazing to have a full 2-3 minute video showing the progression of the fights.

I actually said "Xbox"...but then said close. Because I didn't want my account getting banned. I'm not sure if they would actually ban you for recording in game (or if you can even do so). But I didn't. I wanted to record on Instinct, because it was an "oh holy shit" moment.

I did actually try to see if it would work but it seems the feature is disabled.
