The only expected home console million sellers for this generation will be very few

Mario Kart 8
Super Smash Bros. 4
Final Fantasy XIV / ...

And DQXI will likely outsell these 3 combined.
NSMBU!

I wonder if Nintendo bundles 3D World and if that could drive it to a million too?

Tsutaya is a major retailer with 1,440 retail stores (612 that sell new games) all across Japan.

What is Comgnet?
Comgnet is the website for the retailer "COMG!" that has 17 retail stores across the Niigata Prefecture in Japan.

They are released three days before Media Create + Famitsu + Dengeki give us nationwide sales, so we get a general indication of how well the games will perform relative to their competition.

How accurate is Tsutaya compared to nationwide retail tracking services?
It's large enough that it gives a very probable indication of future sales rankings, but it's not large enough to be definitive.

How accurate were Tsutaya's rankings last week?

This week it's gonna be the same but with lower sales...

Looking forward to yokai watch, the only game could increase sales or at least have a similar level.

Vita titles are actually showing some signs of legs which might get Vita through the drought period that it has in January. Interesting, i guess the expanded audience helps.

40% different for the yearly top 10. And handheld gaming still exist here. I bet the cultural difference is even more pronounced if we check Japanese games performances. AAA perform the same no matter the country: homogenisation, mass market etc...

But yeah, it's not worth a serious discussion.

If all DLC came tied to $13 figurines, I'd consider all DLC to be free

Indeed, most of the western charts appear very similar. That's why I find it weird that people think the UK is the only place where mainstream games do well.

There is more to sales data then the yearly top 10.
I know, but it seems like the first thing to look at when generalising entire countries.

Even looking at the top ten there's more variety in the French charts than the British ones. The British chartzs have action, sports and shooters (dunno about Minecraft, it probably fits none of these genres, but I don't know what genre it is), where the french also have simulation, rpg, adventure and party-games in the charts (no Minecraft though, so only three more genres in the top ten probably). Fifa 13 especially sticks out on the British charts.

Not sure about the UK, but in France, I know there's been some serious shortages for about a month. Amazon finally got some new copies last week, but game's already sold out again (but with a new shipment coming this Friday)..

Either Nintendo had an uber small shipment, or it's really successful. I know it's been #1 of Amazon.fr sales for a few days when they got new copies.

I'd love Nintendo to give us some sales data for the game at the next meeting.... reminds me, do we have Bravely Default + For the Sequel data?

It's safe to say BD has had very low shipments.

hell, the Vita probably sold more there than in the UK. France buys everything worthwhile; the UK buys some things worthwhile.

Ireallydontknowactuallypleasedonthurtme

France likes handhelds. Personally I don't care about them. There are some great games on them especially last gen but nearly all the games I would prefer to play on a console.

I understand their importance in Japan though, and how it allows a lower dev cost for some devs.

This. The UK rivals Japan in the number of game sales. Gaming outside of the UK in Europe is nowhere near as big.

I'm not even sure what you are trying to prove listing three platforms that Bravely Default isn't even on and not taking into account software sales. 3DS games and JRPGs definitely do better in France than the UK, relatively speaking, and I would bet in raw numbers too.

France is Europe's biggest country for Japanese games and Japanese media in general. It's nice to see that you apparently didn't bother to read the conversation before replying, though.

Actually, if I remember correctly the presence of Japanese media is bigger in Germany too than it is in the UK.
