Didn't the Executive Producer for Tomb Raider, Scot Amos, recently confirm it was 1080p, 30 frames on both consoles?

Well... guess this is STILL running at 30 FPS on both. :p So he wouldn't exactly be lying! That powergap, lol.

Meh. Don't really care myself. Still buying this on my Xbox One over my PS4, just for the slightly better Voice Commands and the Achievements.

Your throat must be sore with all of that c-(REDACTED)

What really pisses me off about these comments is Penello asked if the community would apologize to him if the framerate difference is not more than a few single digits, and yet he has not had the self-respect to come here and apologize to us when the difference is demonstrably massively larger in a myriad of multiplatform titles

can't tell you how much this whole shit this year has soured me on the whole brand

At least we can bring up his 30% quote and all of the other hilarity every single time a multiplat has a big difference. But yeah, the initial rant + apology tour was pretty audacious and leaves a bad taste in my mouth. It was clearly all bullshit or he was deluded.

He already stated he was misquoted.

Scott Amos (Executive Producer) also confirmed it here: http://www.twitch.tv/gamesradar/b/497373767 @50:35

Enjoy your inferior version.

I have a PS4 but I'm still glad I picked this up for next to nothing as part of an Amazon Digital games sale and my laptop runs it just fine.

Also based on this information, it is still possible that it's more like 40 fps average for XB1 and 50fps for PS4, so why don't we wait for the DF analysis?

Wait? Cause that's no fun in battle. I do think you're right. Also true confirmation is pending so we will see.

either way, I'm getting it for the Xbox. I know its a weaker platform yet I still function as a human and enjoy it. Its weird, I know.

If I haven't played this game, should this be an insta-buy? Is it really that good? I haven't played Tomb Raider since the original on PC.

I fapped to pixelated Lara back then. I'm not proud of it. Actually, that's amazing I am proud of that.

LMAO buy it game is really good. More Uncharted than OG Tombraider but good game anyway.

My favorite thing about this news is going to be Polygon being forced to give the XB1 version a lower score.

Hahah yeah right.

They will just not even bring it up and give both the same score. They gave Ps4 version of COD a slightly lower score based on framerate drops (which I think got fixed) but BF4 got the same score on both consoles even though the Ps4 version was running at a higher native resolution.

Yeah, slightly better voice commands and achievements. That's why you're choosing x1 version over ps4. Nothing to do with the irrational brand loyalty you've displayed before.

Wow, nice!! If I didn't 100% it already on PS3, I'd have no problem paying $60 for this now.

I mean I paid $60 for AC4 and that had the same framerate as the PS3 version.

its not a matter of running better then ps4. it wont (or at least shouldnt for any conceivable reason). its that i have a hard time believing that the difference will consistently yield twice the framerate. a quickie port from the previous gen is just that, a quick port. i cant imagine they wanted to spend a huge amount of time in porting the game to each systems specific strengths. fact of the matter is, the ps4 should be easier to port over and get great results without much tuning. the x1 should be able to be closer to the ps4 version, but with much more effort put in.

again, i may be proven wrong, but i'm not ready to concede 30 vs 60 as the norm based on this example.

This is going to happen all generation. In a year, we'll all be just assuming such differences are the rule.

Agreed. I don't know why this is shocking to anyone. It's either going to be this or a big resolution difference. Take your pic.

Never quite understood this point.

Regardless of what you "are" you should always be looking for the biggest bang for your buck, and caring about this stuff isn't binary -- it isn't "either you care COMPLETELY and must buy dual titans, or you don't at all".

Oh I agree that being a console gamer doesn't mean you can't care. It just seems many people seem to put so much weight in the framerate & resolution argument when arguing consoles, when there is a superior third platform. If the amount of time people spend talking about these things reflects how much they care about them, then I think they would be best served by PC.

If for other reasons (couch & controller experience, etc.) an individual knows they would rather be a console gamer over PC, then I completely support them figuring out what is the best value for them. And in that case, for many it will be the cheaper platform with the better hardware.

In the stream they had today he said the PS4 version runs at 60 fps which was the one they were streaming. The interviewer asked him again that's for the PS4 version right? and he said yes.

Now all of a sudden the thought of a 60fps KZ2 remake seems a lot more realistic.

Wait, did I accidentally bump this thread or something? This quote screams "made in 2007."

The console wars... have been won.

lol but seriously I kinda want to pick this up just to experience the fun. Wish I didn't sell my Ps4 now.

the exact same producer said it was a misquote and a false conclusion on Gamradar's Twitch stream

Oh yeah, the "This game is cinematic!" "It's not a twitch shooter!" "30 FPS is fine, you won't even SEE the difference!" incoming.

Fact is, you'll FEEL the difference.

I actually kinda agree. All games would be great with 60fps, but slower games like this and TLOU don't really need it.

Anyway, pretty funny how PC elitists were going "My almighty rig couldn't do 60fps with Tressfx on, no way PS4 could do it". Yeah, maybe other graphical effects are turned down, possibly Tressfx is less detailed, but for now this is great news.

So, PC types, take this Definitive and 60fps and shove it up your behinds.

Voice Commands and the Achievements > framerates??! Seriously?

just one more thing added to the long list of reasons to not bother with Xbone.

you can bet that if the tables were turned, Microsoft would be rubbing this performance edge in Sony's face every chance possible.

Excellent work EatChildren. What a nice scoop for your site. Hope you get the credit you deserve once the big sites start to pick it up.

Wouldn't the Xbone be Vegeta though? If anything, the Wii U would be Goten.

What more proof do you need? Maybe not necessarily framerate differences, but resolution differences too? CoD, BF, AC, and now this.

This is the new normal.

We also aren't even half a year into the generation

I think its going to be locked 30 on release.

This is from an event today and the discs are already printed, so it seems unlikely they weren't playing the very newest build, also the executive producer was also talking about 60fps on PS4 which would seem a little pointless if it was going to be locked at 30.
