Sega PC ports campaign continues with petition (Vanquish, Bayonetta, VF5)

I think it would make a lot of sense to push for a port of the Guardian Heroes HD remake aswell. The hard part's already done and being a small title, the cost would be negligible. Treasure, the developers, now have a game on greenlight too, so I don't think it would take much to make it happen.

I have no idea what you're even trying to accomplish anymore other than to drag this campaign down with negativity.

Not really... The thing is that the petition starter and I have two completely different perspectives.

He evidently doesn't really know the games he's talking about but rather tries to make a point the idea of last gen ports on PC has some potential -which is cool you never know- and I, having followed this surprisingly incompetent publisher this generation, am pointing out how they left some of us in the cold. Of course I cannot take seriously attacks essentially saying "why are you denying us a 4.99$ Bayonetta on Steam !?" but my point is still that I find these games to be way too console oriented and gaming benefits from porting them would be minuscule.

All I can contribute is that buying Binary Domain on the PC is a better way to get noticed by Sega. Seriously, it's a good game !

I'm sorry, I know it's immature of me to reply this way but I laughed.

At least you're right about Binary Domain.

That's a narrow minded view you have. "Too console oriented".
Wouldn't surprise me if some publishers have the same twisted view on this as you.

Who in their right mind decides things that way? Are we only allowed to play Sims and Football Manager on PC?

If you have nothing to contribute other than this nonsense then stay out of this thread.

Way too console oriented my ass.

This campaign must have really ruffled your feathers that you're so negative towards it.

Also, buying Binary Domain doesn't really do shit. A sold copy of that game doesn't signalise them directly the message "We want Bayonetta/Vanquish/etc." if you ask me.

It was such a shame the console versions flopped it should be up there with CoD and TF2 in terms of MP community.

A real alternative to MP FPS for casual play imo

I think an updated Anarchy Reigns could, but there's a lot of small frustrations in the way of it. Being on steam would go a long way though.

I would honestly love to hear how Vanquish counts as too console oriented, and Yakuza isn't. I've followed Sega throughout this (and every other) generation btw, and still disagree with you, so let's not play the "uninformed" card here.

Yeah, vanquish is a fucking shooter, it'd work great on PC.

What's your take on multi-platform titles then (and by multi-platform I mean games that are released on consoles and PC, in case that wasn't completely obvious to you)? I might be pushing my luck, but are you aware that you can easily connect controllers to a PC?

Of course I cannot take seriously attacks essentially saying "why are you denying us a 4.99$ Bayonetta on Steam !?"

I am curious, what posts are you referring to?

Hitting the sack, looks like my "optimistic" goal of 5500 by Monday was actually an underestimate, we're over 5400 already!

Dario ff already made a great video for the campaign featuring Bayonetta, VF5 and Vanquish, but it didn't feature the petition's "special consideration", namely Valkyria Chronicles. Even if the game might potentially be harder to port given its PS3 exclusive origin, it just means we need to show Sega that the demand is indeed sufficient to justify the cost to port the game. I'm seeing a lot of support for the game in the petition comments, so that's definitely a good sign, but a lot of VC fans out there are still unaware of the petition. I ended up making a video to promote Valkyria Chronicles. I already showed the early draft to Grief.exe and TaroYamada. It's nothing special, basically an edited intro of the game, but I hope it helps spread the word on the petition. Link can be found here:

Your posts are insufferable. I'm pretty sure you may be the NeoGAF poster least in tune with the PC audience.

I'm sure that as long as Ikaruga on Steam does well, they'll bring over everything they can.

And let's face it, there's basically no chance Ikaruga on Steam will bomb, it can't be that expensive to port a shmup, and the game has a great reputation.

Even if these ports were $20, $10, or $5 it's still more than platinum is making off the games right now or in the future. The new copies of games that are out there were sold long ago.

For a game like Bayonetta, which has exactly one good version, a PC release would introduce the series to an entirely new group of gamers. Something important when a company is trying to push out a sequel. Publishers commonly do this with older titles, when new titles are on the way. Increase exposure of the series by any means possible (Sales, PS+).

Just dropping by to say that Vanquish is the best third person shooter I've ever played, and one of the coolest games of all time. I'm surprised I haven't seen any Vanquish or Bayonetta gifs in this thread or the last one.

It's been few days and your whining is really annoying and you contributed absolutely zero to this campaign so far. If you really think that your favorite game series needs more attention and one more try (after 4 opportunities) than what we're trying to achieve here, then please, leave this thread for good and start your own petition and your own thread, since you're so confident that it would be more meaninful and successful. No one in here even agrees with you, so there's really no need to continue this discussion or to elaborate your perspective on this petition any further.

Though the PS3 version of Vanquish trumps the Xbox 360 version:

Digital Foundry Vanquish Faceoff.

What Digital Foundry article where you reading?

The only really noticeable difference between the two versions comes down to the implementation of shadows. What appears to be an offset bias issue adds 'acne' to some areas of the 360 game, and looks to remove some shadows in the distance altogether.

Overall, texture quality is a match, as evidenced by the top screen. On the lower set of comparison images you find the one 'rogue' shot where texture LODs were less aggressive on 360. Realistically, however, these games look exactly the same during the run of play.

Platinum Games says that it developed on PS3 first and foremost, but it's testament to the developer's skill that v-sync is the only real differentiating factor between the lead platform and the 360 conversion, and there's still a sense that controller response may well be the tiniest bit crisper on the Microsoft console. If you own both machines and are wondering which to buy, it's a tough one to call overall but in my view, the v-sync implementation has to give the PS3 version the edge.

Really, the only marked difference is that the PS3 version runs with V-Sync on, which is nice. But as a PC gamer extremely sensitive to screen-tearing and frame-drops, I played Vanquish on 360 and had no issues with it.

It's not like we're talking about Bayonetta levels of difference, here. I own both a 360 and a PS3 and it's not like I want to trade my 360 copy of the game in for a PS3 copy.

The thought of Vanquish at 60fps makes me drool. So many action games have been improved with a better framerate, a good example being Resi Evil 6 which is just sublime at a higher framerate.

You can't be serious. Where do you think most of PC gaming's growth came from, out of fresh, new 8 year olds with their first video game being TF2? No, PC gaming's growth has been mostly at the expense of consoles, we've got a lot of anecdotal evidence on GAF about people jumping to the PC as the PS360 aged. Saying that a niche game wouldn't find sales on PC is jumping the gun, considering the PC is the patron saint of niche. Considering both Bayonetta and Vanquish are action games....look at MGR: Revengence. Both of these games have crazy good word of mouth, like Revengence and Dark Souls did. There's no reason to think they won't sell well because they're controller-centric games, because how many third party games on Steam nowadays are designed around consoles?

Answer: All of them.

Signed. Think this is the first petition i ever signed. I signed because I want vanquish, bayonetta, and vf5 on pc obviously (and other titles if these titles are succeeded in being on pc platform).
