Sega PC ports campaign continues with petition (Vanquish, Bayonetta, VF5)

5600 sigs! Holy crap, I just signed yesterday, and it was a little over 4k.

Your posts are insufferable. I'm pretty sure you may be the NeoGAF poster least in tune with the PC audience.
"zero cognitive reasoning abilities"

But seriously, that's a bit harsh, though.. The way I look at it: The more, the merrier. Everybody deserves to experience gamings best entries. Everybody wins.

Any argument outside of that point, makes zero sense to me.

i'll sign anything for VF

anything

What Digital Foundry article where you reading?

Really, the only marked difference is that the PS3 version runs with V-Sync on, which is nice. But as a PC gamer extremely sensitive to screen-tearing and frame-drops, I played Vanquish on 360 and had no issues with it.

It's not like we're talking about Bayonetta levels of difference, here. I own both a 360 and a PS3 and it's not like I want to trade my 360 copy of the game in for a PS3 copy.

I recall seeing plenty of screen tearing when I played the 360 version. Especially during the tutorial section, where it was giving me MT Framework flashbacks. I don't really consider myself to be very sensitive to screen tearing either. Not a deal breaker at all (and definitely not enough to get me playing it with a DS3...), but it was definitely noticeable.

That said, I'd have to give the PS3 version a try before deciding whether I even want v-sync on. I remember grabbing Resi 5 on PS3 because the screen tearing on the 360 one was making me want to kill someone.. and then the PS3 solved the issue by simply halving the damn fps a lot of the time. Gimme the tearing over that any day!

Signed, but i have absolutely no faith in Sega. They have proven time and time again they are woefully incompetent with regards to their fanbase.

Not really... The thing is that the petition starter and I have two completely different perspectives.

He evidently doesn't really know the games he's talking about but rather tries to make a point the idea of last gen ports on PC has some potential -which is cool you never know- and I, having followed this surprisingly incompetent publisher this generation, am pointing out how they left some of us in the cold. Of course I cannot take seriously attacks essentially saying "why are you denying us a 4.99$ Bayonetta on Steam !?" but my point is still that I find these games to be way too console oriented and gaming benefits from porting them would be minuscule.

All I can contribute is that buying Binary Domain on the PC is a better way to get noticed by Sega. Seriously, it's a good game !

Seriously? I've known Taro for years. When it comes to gaming, but SEGA in particular, he KNOWS what he's talking about. Come on man.

Passed my "optimistic" projection of 5500 by monday. Weekend wasn't as slow as I anticipated.

Dario ff already made a great video for the campaign featuring Bayonetta, VF5 and Vanquish, but it didn't feature the petition's "special consideration", namely Valkyria Chronicles. Even if the game might potentially be harder to port given its PS3 exclusive origin, it just means we need to show Sega that the demand is indeed sufficient to justify the cost to port the game. I'm seeing a lot of support for the game in the petition comments, so that's definitely a good sign, but a lot of VC fans out there are still unaware of the petition. I ended up making a video to promote Valkyria Chronicles. I already showed the early draft to Grief.exe and TaroYamada. It's nothing special, basically an edited intro of the game, but I hope it helps spread the word on the petition. Link can be found here:

Will give you an add in the OP.

i think you guys should make good use of the ignore poster option

5,400 now. that's pretty good for two - three days.

I use it for what I consider extreme cases, DDS isn't quite there yet ;)

I hope that when they port Vanquish they will let us deactivate mouse acceleration (Yes, I have a gamepad but I prefer to play shooters with KB/M)

What's our current status on media coverage/What can we do at the moment to help increase coverage? Because, let's be honest, our chances are so much better if we can reach the 20,000 goal sooner rather than later, and there's an obvious drought incoming if we can't reach audiences that don't go on GAF or Kotaku.

Press push restarts monday, we avoided a push on the weekend because typically traffic numbers fall and journos themselves are harder to reach. This weekend I mostly tried to contact youtubers and game industry professionals.

Things intended for next week:
Monday we get something on Sonic Retro (for sure)
If scheduling can be arranged I'll be on the SEGANerds podcast discussing our effort

Obviously we need more but that's what we have thus far since we've retired our press effort for the weekend.

the re4 port makes me hopeful

hopefully that sells satisfactorily (which I anticipate it will) and makes the wake-up call even louder. although Capcom is no stranger to PC, I guess.

Is there any sales data for PC versions of what were originally console games?

I remember reading where KOFXIII sold more on Steam in the US than it did on any one console. Haven't seen anything else though

HEY JP
tell them to port some games to the PC

love,
kick51 :D

edit: please, thank you

He already pushed the idea of steam to PG and Inaba seems very keen on the idea of self-publishing their own games there (through kickstarter), but all of those old games are still Sega's IP, so there isn't really much they could do.

Well I'll put some money for their new project should they decide to kickstart it.

Well, Inaba could potentially try to approach Sega with the possibility of a port.

I mean, if Creative Assembly and Hardlight can convince Sega to port "Viking: Battle for Asgard" to PC out of all games, I'm sure it'd be possible for Platinum to try and give an edge to bring Bayonetta/Vanquish to PC.

Yeah, a source would be nice.

Speaking about SNK, seems like KOF98 and 2002 and Metal Slug got updated in the registry again last week.

I haven't checked but valve pushes through updates to all apps constantly. If it is just a singular update, that is likely the source.

So, after playing MG R on PC...i couldnt handle it and went and bought a PS3 yesteday because i wanted more PG love (i know the 360 versions of their games are better, but i wanted to play some Sony exclusives as well).

And i finished Bayonetta in a single run, around 10 hours. PG are sure the best at making action games. This would be a killer at 1080p/60fps. Now i want it more to be at PC.

Tell them the title of the article should be "Is SEGA sexist for not porting Bayonetta to PC?"

Now we are onto something.

I've been full time PC this past generation, but Sony has really impressed me with their lineup. I went out and bought a PS3 during Black Friday, and will probably pick up a PS4 in a couple of years.

Microsoft consoles with PC just seem redundant at best, in all honesty I think they are targeting a very young audience, placing me outside of their demographic.

I am going to create a thread in the RPS forum later today. I will let you all know when it is live. Hopefully that will help a little.

There already is one unfortunately, some guy
(neckbeard (figuratively and literally, dude has a neckbeard selfie as his DP))
is rampaging about our armchair logic because we lack intimate knowledge of the difficulty of porting these games. Thought I left that clear on the petition but whatever.

I just got a headache from reading his posts. I admire The JG Man for his attempts to reason with him.

Here's the thread in question: Let's petition Sega to get more great games on the PC (RPS Forum).

Signed!

Not only would releasing these games on pc allow them to reach a larger audience, it also helps to keep them accessible for future generations.

All console games should be released on pc as well if it helps them be preserved, especially Japanese ones like these that are well loved!

I'd welcome Valkyria Chronicles as well next to the titles in the title.

I would like to see Panzer Dragoon mentioned more specifically in the petition based on the existing PS2 port and the (presumed) ease with which Sega could follow the Nights conversion route. Also it was a Saturn launch game that many owners of the system played and enjoyed, and the start of a long and beloved lineage. So I think it could have commercial traction, moreso than many of the mentioned titles.

I'm really suprised they didn't covered the story already. We have 6000 signatures + Sega's recognition. The petition should've been all over the gaming news by now.

Did you guys try tweeting Dave Cook from VG24/7? He loves Platinum. I think he could help us by posting the petition on VG24/7. Here's his Twitter:
