Skullgirls |OT| New age of Heroines

For what's it's worth, MashOn didn't go out of business because of us - I think they were doing poorly across the board.

Eighty Sixed did a HUGE amount of T-shirt sales last year, and on the whole our merch sales are doing really well. Which is insane because the game is literally the cheapest thing you can buy, aside from the OST.
Regardless, you guys have had a crazy number of setbacks, and I really hope you can keep your heads up. I know I would find it difficult. I am pumped to play Big Band and Eliza. I hope your fanbase helps you feel energized.

Yeah, the online is definitely improved was finally able to connect to players from japan and brazil from the east coast if that has any merit.

Apparently the online for the PC version was improved, so maybe my matches won't feel so terrible now.
Yeah, it was some sort of frameskip bug fix. When I played early on Saturday morning it definitely felt improved with most 200 ping matches feeling like standard 50 ping experiences. It was pretty great, but then it all went to hell in the evening when all pings appeared to be 300-600 regardless of the region. It went away after I reset the modem and green pings actually started appearing again. The highlight was playing 16 matches with a Japanese guy who went by the name "Inamura"at ping of 230ms. Sixteen matches at delay of 4 with someone with Japan and it was smoother than 90% of my west coast experiences. I dare say the matches were comparable to smooth East Coast matches. Now that guy probably knew not to open youtube in the middle of a fight. American internet has a long ways to go.

Talk about how a minor bug fix made a big difference in netplay.

Also here's another episode of lol fortune. Need a corner in the middle of the stage ? No need for Squigly my friend ...

Fan artists are the best.
It'll be in the beta soon (if it isn't already), but you can hear the WIP version of the Under the Bridge stage theme here!

Honestly my favorite piece of music from Yamane in the SG universe so far. It's got that certain energy to it that works for fighting games. I'm really liking Big Band as a character too. His rush punches look like musical blodia punches.
Well equipped for the cold season too.

excellent

I dont understand, so the complete Big Band, his stage and music will launch at the same time for PC and Console? I see no problem I guess. More time to test him and other stuff.

That's pretty much it.

A lot of console-only players are pretty upset about how things turned out with Squigly, so we're just trying to make things as fair as possible for them moving forward, so they don't feel left out.

Well now they see a little how pc players felt when waiting for the steam version...

Except they paid for the development of the new content, unlike the publisher that paid for the PC version.

This decision is not based on platforms, it's based on being fair to the people that paid for this content.

The six months exclusivity for characters on PC was something I never wrapped my head around, mainly for what actually constituted six months.

Does this new policy work against that or just reemphasize it? Is being playable in the beta the start of that timer or is/was it something else?

As someone who owns both versions, I respect this decision.

What is the ETA like on seeing a completed Big Band? Are we looking more at weeks, or months?

Sometime in March.

While his character is almost completely playable, there is a lot of ancillary stuff that needs to be finished before we can even think about putting him into console testing. So it's not like he's ready to go on PC or anything like that.

Great to hear! Any idea on when we might see some Eliza in action? :-D

I hope someone makes a "this is everything Big Band can do" video on PC so I can get the info before he releases on consoles

Robo-Fortune will likely be included in Beowulf's patch, since she's not a full character, and we only budgeted for four patches.
Aren't patch fees gone now?

I got no problem with the delay. I consider this more of a synchronization if anything. I just can't wait for Eliza and Beowulf. Odds are that they won't have a level 3 as amazing as Big Band's, though. :)
Yes, but testing isn't.

The Squigly patch cost us between $20-30k to test on consoles.
I let out a sigh...

The things companies can get away with. :/

That's like six testers for three weeks, and a testing manager to oversee that they're not duplicating their efforts. Our guys are actually a good value.

Why not have a community testing team? Icefrog did this for years with DotA. It never cost him anything.

Because devkits are expensive.

And there is nothing like professional testers - explaining the bugs and reproduction steps is often times more important than finding the bug.

Probably nowhere near as thorough.

Probably wouldn't be allowed by the console makers either.

They'll allow it, but you want professionals to do TRC checks, which are the things that will REALLY slow you down.

Like, that's the stuff Konami screwed us on so badly with the 360 patch.

But the real issue is that you need to test it on debug kits, and we can't get a bunch of those to mail out to the community or whatever.

Schoolgirls has never been a better alternative title than now. So many tests.

Mike gushed about those guys on Salty several times stating that they were faster than Konami testers. I thought you meant console related fees, not the actual bug testers you guys hired.
There is no better way to hate a game than to test it, let me assure you.
You underestimate just how crazy this fanbase is. I thought you'd never make that mistake again after the IGG campaign.

Yeah, they were cheaper, faster and more thorough than Konami's testers.

There are no other console related fees at this point, besides pro testing.
