I doubt it. Sony are flying solid right now.

Nothing that I post, or anyone else posts, will ever change the gameplan of a company.

A non-game related question ... since you're clearly involved with Microsoft.

Have you guys now or before ever worried about the state of Xbox One in the retail sales space and is that part of the reason you in particular have decided to leak out all this news?

Given how they've handled multiplayer in the past with ODST and Halo CE, I'm going to guess they'll just slap Halo 4 multiplayer in there with the Halo 2 campaign.
I think it has a very good chance of being halo 2 multi. Anniversary only took reach multi because it was the most recent multiplayer on the system it released on. Same goes for odst.

For h2a, they would be porting an entire multiplayer up to a new system either way. So might as well port up halo 2 since that's what everyone wants.

While I don't care all that much about the already known franchise tidbits, it's cool to hear that both Sunset Overdrive and Quantum Break are coming this year.

And the idea of a cheaper, all digital Xbox One is very intriguing. I could go for that.

Can you give us ANY details about Halo 2 and 3 on PC? The Steam registry stuff, the entries in both AMD and Nvidia drivers, etc...is it actually going to happen?

Psyched about H2 remake, but disappointed at the H5 "delay". I want pie and cake at the same time dammit!

ntkrnl: Any noise on Phantom Dust 2? Apologies if it's been asked about before. This thread is moving fast.

We still haven't heard about anything exclusive from Japan. Anything regarding Phantom Dust, Blue Dragon, Lost Odyssey or Platinum Games will be MEGATON for me. $400 Xbox One is also good news and now i am definitely looking forward to getting one with Quantum Break this Fall.

Any chance you know more about Halo 2 anniversary? I'm sure it's been asked a million times but are we looking at something like emulated 1:1 multiplayer or is it Halo 4 gameplay on Halo 2 maps?

Thanks for all the information. Out of curiosity, do you know if these future titles like AAA ones like Halo 5, Quantum Break, SO, etc., or even third party games like Watchdogs are aiming for 1080p? Asking because it is a very contentious issue among everyone lately even in the public. Any response would be greatly appreciated among the community. Thanks!

I'm gonna be pissed if they're not 1080p

Seriously dude? Lol. Why in the world would they worry about retail sales space at this point? You are too funny.

I'm a little worried I won't be able to spend my ~$400 Microsoft points that expire at the latest nov 2015, considering I'm only going to use it on xbone exclusives (I only have titanfall, halo 5, quantum break, and gears on my radar, insomniac is too iffy to be a sure thing with sunset overdrive) and don't want to have to burn it on full price live membership. They better start bringing it with smaller downloadable games or something

If you're joining the thread then this Bish-verified insider ntkrnl has been UNLEASING THE BOMBS.

Here's all the stuff so far he's said in this thread:

  • Forza Horizon: "Fall 2014, probably September. Super sexy weather system and... shit tons of co-op/social stuff. 1080P and open-world, so you can road trip with your bros."
  • White Xbone incoming.
  • Why all the leaks? Scared you might get caught? "I am incapable of fear. Plus, this is such exciting stuff, and me talking about it ahead of time isn't going to hurt anything, truthfully. We're all chomping at the bit for it to come out. This is not bad. "
  • Halo Anniversary 2 will be 1080p, iffy on the 60fps, maybe not.
  • Quantum Break is Holiday 2014
  • Multiplayer confirmed for HA2, same devs as Halo Anniversary.
  • Sunset Overdrive is Fall 2014
  • Is not Phil Spencer
  • Black Tusk cancelled project was called "Shangheist." May have involved stealing stuff from the Chinese (though I think that may have been a reference to the name and maybe not the gameplay? Not sure...)
  • Fable Legends is Summer 2015
  • Halo 2 Anniversary includes beta for Halo 5
  • Gears of War will probably need a 2.5 year dev time.
  • First Titanfall DLC is 45 days from release, then another one 120 days from release.
  • No Crackdown 3 news this year most likely, since it's a 2016 title.
  • A list w/dates of the rest of the Tier 2 and Tier 3 countries that Xbone will release in this year.
  • No info/idea on what Rare's up to, sadly.
  • $399 XB1 this year? "Maybe one without an Optical Disc Drive."

I'm heading out so people update this list accordingly...

Whenever someone shows up and dumps this much info, I get suspicious. Very few people inside Microsoft would have access to such a breadth of topics. Some of this info is already known, or easy to predict.

I've long thought they would never bother with a Halo 2 port. Most fans consider it the weakest Halo, and seeing as they ported the original to 360, it would have made far more sense to port the sequel as well, as the engine work had already been done at that point. A Halo 2 announcement at this E3 would be met with a lot of yawns at this point.

Wow this is the most prolific Xbox leaker since Cboat, epic epic leaks here. Fucking fantastic. Happy to see Sunset Overdrive is apparently making it this year, that is the #1 game that excited me from their stable :D

D:
Well, Insomniac made that announcement a while ago :p

Cboat , thuway and Mort have been wrong in the past , I'm not disputing his info , only that you shouldn't take it as a confirmation of anything.

Just to be clear; cboat was never formally identified by any of us. He or she developed a reputation by posting obviously real NPD numbers and internal publishing documents years and years ago before most of us were moderators. The reason we verify purported insiders is not to protect us (no sweat off our back to delete or lock the posts or wait until the rumour comes true or false and then perm them or just perm them until what they say comes true) but rather to protect them (so that if they say something and it ends up getting changed--because lots of things are subject to change--we have a basis for believing that they weren't making it up to begin with). When you hear something from CBOAT, your mental filter is "This is a guy who has said a bunch of stuff over a long period of time including some stuff that was obviously true and private but I have no idea who he is and some of it didn't quite shake out in the end."

I have no idea who ntkrnl is. bishoptl (who has been very public about his own name and background in the industry) verified his identity as someone who would in theory be able to know the kinds of things he's saying. We keep confidence of people who talk to us and bishoptl wouldn't and shouldn't tell me who ntkrnl is. When you hear something here, your mental filter is "This guy appears to be verified by GAF moderators as someone who potentially could know the kinds of things he's saying." We can't and couldn't verify that someone is telling the truth, only that they appear to be someone who could know this stuff based on their position or identity. Of course it could also be that he's Phil Spencer and playing a giant trick on us all. If Phil Spencer asked me to vouch for him in confidence, I'd say yes, and then he could post that Microsoft was buying Nintendo and making a game where Master Chief runs for congress, and I'd have no way of determining if that's true or not, only that theoretically someone in his position could vouch for it.

Thuway and famousmortimer have never been verified at all, and in fact they are both abundantly clear that they are NOT industry insiders. They both give their real names and professions publicly. They make it clear that in both their cases, they talk to people in the industry. In FM's case, I think it's not so much that he did talk to people in the industry, but rather his success with the PS4NoDRM thing got him connections to talk to some people in the industry. So when you hear something from either of these people, you know "This is something from people who appear to be connected, but don't have any first hand information because they're not in the industry. So are they using discretion in terms of choosing their sources or the certainly or degree to which they present the claims they heard?"

Three totally separate cases.

Seriously dude? Lol. Why in the world would they worry about retail sales space at this point? You are too funny.

Because I'm curious on the state over there? What's wrong with that?

He seems to be open and honest and I'm genuinely curious as to the motivation behind the leak and what goes on behind the scene.

For one, knowing a year in advance on what MS is doing is what made a lot of PS4 possible.

I'm excited and want both companies to step their game up. Seems like MS is going to do so by the end of the year.

It may have an effect, but personally I would prefer them to stick with their game schedule. Plus it has been hinted at that Sony is going for much shorter PR cycles. Remember this is a company without the deep pockets like MS, so shorter PR cycles mean buzz doesn't fizzle out like it often does for other games. We are insatiable when it comes to info. Infamous and Driveclub were revealed less than a year ago and people are genuinely bothered by the lack of news on these games. Despite getting new trailers at nearly every event since. So I think reveals in May and June and release in October-November is more ideal. At least I hope that happens.

As for this Microsoft news it is interesting they are putting their chips down on Quantum Break and Sunset Overdrive. Perhaps trying to break the illusion they are not a 3 franchise company?
