Nippon yasan has the vita 2k for 205.xx right now, which shipping is best? I am in the US (SC) and want it delivered safely, I am getting this solely for remote play and possibly to replace my OG at some point.

Is there a better place to order from, I really don't want to exceed 225$ if possible altogether.

Thanks!

I ordered one from them a couple weeks ago. I would go with the FedEx shipping as it was weeks quicker and only like 2-3$ more than the cheapest option for me.

I absolutely love it!! I ended up selling my 1000 to a buddy of mine. Yes, the LCD is a bit duller than the OLED, but in my opinion at least, the difference is pretty negligible. If you see the two of them side by side, you can def tell a difference ( of which the difference is probably better for 80% of shit on OLED.. I think there is SOME tiny amount of stuff that actually looks better on an LCD. in particular Ys looks really great on LCD, but colors are almost too painfully bold for my tastes on OLED.. splitting hairs here as it looks great on both machines )

One other note I rarely hear people talk about is the OLED would totally bleed colors from frame to frame in certain situations. I felt this was especially noticeable on P4G. None of that issue remains with the LCD.

I think a lot of the people who are hung up on the OLED->LCD switch honestly haven't seen them in person. There is a difference, it was a cost saving measure, yes. But its pretty small. If you can't get over that difference, fine, I am absolutely loving the additional battery life, smoother edges around the console for comfort, more roominess on the back with the slimmed down touchpad, the much more excellent L/R triggers, and the awesome lime green finish :)

New question for others with Vita 2000s: Anyone have a good case to recommend? I got the soft case that is meant for it, but I want something a bit more substantial.

I ordered one of those amazon basics hard shell cases ( http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00BI9MDSO/?tag=neogaf0e-20 ), while it was in the mail I ended up reading that the 2000 is actually a millimeter or two wider and taller than the 1000, and sure enough.. It just barely doesn't fit in the case :/

Just looking for a nice hard shell that might fit the 2000! :)

Those shoulder buttons, most important thing I just read! Mine on the black oled have had the loosest triggers, I can't speak to the LCD vs oled screen just yet.

I'm somewhat shocked by the pricing. Regular OLED Vitas have consistently been going for less than 200€s for months. In the holiday rush, I snagged a Wifi Vita with Tearaway bundled for 149€. I can order a Wifi+3G Vita for 170€ shipped right now, even cheaper than the plain Wifi model.

All the while sony.de still lists 199€ as the official pricing, mind you -- no, they haven't heard of the Vita 2k yet :p

And now I'm kind of excited to see the first retailer listings pop up for the slim ... and ... they want 250€ :\
Makes no sense. Nobody can tell me this thing costs more to make than the original model. Nobody can tell me there's some 50€+ of extra value in there.

I hope the pricing swings into place soon.

It was announced only in the UK, not Europe. The price converts to €215 but it'd be pretty moronic to pass the €200 mark so the RRP should still be €199. AFAIK the 1k model didn't get an official price drop when it dropped to $199 in the US.

That pricing does indeed suck.. But just order the Japanese import!! ~155 €

http://www.nippon-yasan.com/lang-en...e-green-white-wi-fi-version-pch-2000za13.html

It doesn't make much sense to me either, but as long as import prices are like this, just import! Only difference is X for cancel and O for confirm in the system menu and perhaps not the correct electric leads for your region..

Man, Nippon Yasan has gone up 5 dollars since I started looking...

Yeah, went up 5$ from when I ordered it about 2 weeks ago.. I don't think its their prices though, I think they do everything in yen and then just give you that days exchange rate for whatever your local currency is :)

Since they technically use the same connector, are there any PS4 controller charge docks that you can actually plug a 2000 into securely too? I wouldn't mind having one that kills two birds with one stone like that.

I can't wait any longer. So Nippon Yasan is the best place to import from?

Am I reading this correct, for importers they will handle the Japanese warranty with Sony for you in the event it ever messes up within the 1 year Sony warranty?

That's my biggest worry about importing is the warranty. I don't want to get a unit and it break within a few months and there goes $200+ down the drain.

Not a hard shell, but my fiance did order me the waterfield case today. It's meant for the 1000 though, so I hope it won't be too loose in there.

I'm gonna need a confirmation on that myself. Because if true then holy fuck!

How long does nin-nin game usually take to ship their products? I placed my order and paid via PayPal on Saturday, and it says "Payment Accepted" under product status. Hasn't been sent out yet though.

Personally I would go for sapphire blue.

Well I went through with it. A Sapphire Blue OLED is on its way soon. As soon as it (hopefully) arrives I'll sell my black OLED I've had since launch (damn 2 years!).

I weighed up my options. It was between this and the white/blue Slim. But having an all blue colour scheme with OLED seemed the ideal way to go.

Will probably go with a screen protector this time round.

Just got my white/light blue Vita 2000 in the mail yesterday, and I have to say that it is quite impressive once you get your hands on it. Very light and comfortable. The difference between the screens is notable, but I've gotten used to the LCD. Happy to make the switch.

Switching the card from my old Vita scrambled the organization of my games and erased any folders I had. Apps were scrambled, but my folders preserved when I switched between card in my Vita 1000 system earlier. Weren't they going to fix that?

Can one of you cool guys with one of these tell me if the analogue sticks feel different/better than the ones on the 1000? thanks.

I kind of wish they'd made the screen bigger. Not necessarily in this update, but just in general, maybe an extra couple of inches to be on-par with the Nexus 7. I understand this would affect portability, but the way this device is being used now is primarily around the house anyway.

I guess that would also affect the ppi if they maintained a QHD resolution, but I don't think I'd care very much. 3DS XL games still look fine to me.

960x544 on a 7" screen would be 157ppi, even less than the terrible 171ppi of the 3DS XL. No thanks.
I have a Nexus 7 and 7" is definitely too much for a handheld.

Can the Vita-2000 charge via USB while it's still on? I take my Vita to work and could benefit from a much slimmer model weighing my scrub bottoms a tad (ironically same happened with the PSP-1000; the 3000 was a big difference) as well as the new MiniUSB charging since I'm around computers during downtime, so it charging while still playing would make it a no brainer (my 1000 would probably be relegated for home use)!

Every model has been able to do this.

Not exactly. On the 1000, the unit had to be turned off completely in order to charge via a PC's USB connection. So I'm wondering if the 2000 is different. Even if it's not, a bit longer battery will still go a long way (though never had that problem with smart usage or bringing an adapter for 10 shifts like tomorrow @_@)

I was playing+charging my Vita 1k simultaneously a lot, really puzzled by this question.

edit: do you have Media Companion or some other "smart" stuff installed on your PC that tries to annex the Vita for its purposes when you connect it?

The Vita's 1k's AC adapter is just a dumb power-only USB plug with a weird adapter at the end.

This is not true. I've charged it using only the USB cable many times. It does take longer and ther is no change on the battery indicator on screen, but it is charging.

Ok, I see now, previously I just went by off-hand comments on it not charging unless shut off and never tried it on my own. The quote in bold definitely didn't help and what let to me originally thinking that was the case. Thanks for clearing that up for me. I LOVE my Vita, but that was ONE aspect I was completely in the dark about apparently.
Just for the heck of it, as I type, it's plugged into my laptop's USB connection. A trial run for tomorrow as it were. ;)

The 3DS XL's upper screen's ppi is 95.59, not 171. It is a 400x240 screen with the 3D off.

I definitely think I'm going to want to upgrade to a 2000 but I cannot decide on which color I like. Would've appreciated some darker colors rather than that light blue silliness. Leaning towards the khaki and maybe the green/yellow thing. Anybody else think the color selections are a little strange?

Defiantly need to keep that site in mind if I decide to import instead of waiting for a US release date... I would rather use my Best Buy gift cards I have.

Anybody else think the color selections are a little strange?

I also think the colors are strange, but I do like all of them. A Halloween orange seems like it could be cool for those weird color selections...

Not sure if I like the black or white front. All the colors I like have the white front, but I think I like the black front better...

Does anyone know where I can import the light blue 2000 vita? I live in the U.S. I think I want to jump on the vita bandwagon so I can get my Persona 4 fix.

Nevermind. I dug through Nippon and found the light blue.

I'm not sure what you mean by this.... can you explain?

Got my Lime Green one today, absolutely love it. Feels great.

LCD vs OLED isn't too bad. The colors are less vibrant, but I feel like sub native-res games look much better on the 2000. Anyone else think this way too?

Is it more yellow green or just a light colored green. It's either this or Khaki if I do decide to get one. Also interesting opinion on sub native res games. I'd like to hear if anyone agrees. That could be another selling point.

I'm torn on some coloring options.

I'm not certain I want an all black 2000 (not a huge fan of all black). I currently have an all white OLED model, which I bought when AC3:L released (bundle). Now, I'm mostly torn on the black/pink and white/lime 2000.

I had a launch black Vita, that I handed down when I got white one - the white front doesn't really show smudges :) huge benefit, over the black.

One observation, the back of the white 1000 is glossy, which won't lead to any staining/discoloration. With the colored backs of the 2000 models being matte, are they prone to discoloration (staining and becoming dingy colored)?

Anyone with one of the 2000's who can comment on my discoloring concern?

Also:

White and lime or black and pink?

Decisions....

With the PS Vita sales plumetting, I was hoping Sony would go for a PS Vita 3000 OLED someday. This could be the last PS Vita model in awhile, damn. I may have to double dip on a PS Vita 2000 or scrounge for an OLED model :(

I bought a white 2000 from Nippon-Yasan last Monday but it has been in the preparation stage for a good week now. I hope it ships out really soon, I'm dying to get my hands on one. Sold my 1000 two weeks ago. Will probably end up buying a 64gb card as well in a few weeks when I have money to spend.

The 2000 just looks so much more comfortable to hold than the original, even if I have to go from OLED to LCD. Knowing me, I will get used to the LCD screen in no time at all, especially since I no longer have an OLED model to compare it to. The smaller rear pad and larger grips alone is worth the upgrade, haha.

So for for those who upgraded or have both the 1000 and 2000, how do the buttons feel? Cause my white 1000 buttons are starting to stick and I just don't like the feel of them. Does the 2000 fix this?

I'm in the same boat with Nippon yasan. Maybe they don't actually have them in stock?

The khaki is a lot better looking in person. Plus, it doesn't show the marks of your grubby fingers the way the others colors do!

If I had to take a guess, yeah. Still, most of the time the week long prep is normal based off what I've read from other people online who ordered from them, so I'm just gonna expect it to be shipped within another day or two. I hope so anyways!

I'll likely order a 64gb card from somewhere else. SuperUFO probably

I got my 2000 on superufo too, and can recommend it. Customer service works well and they shipped quickly. And dat prices, damn.

Got a black/khaki. The 2000 black front is less of a smudge magnet than the 1000 black, so we can add it to the nice list of positive things about the new model :)

Would it be cheaper to import a Vita now or in a few months? I know waiting is usually cheaper, but I'm not familiar with the Japanese market but they recently had a tax increase if I'm not mistaken. So will prices increase in the future or remain the same/get chepaer?
