$40 for 2 hours?

Pfff. In Canada it's $45 for 2 hours. Thanks price hike.

inb4 an Australian comes in and tells me it's like $450 there.
Yeah quit your whinging haha! We're completely fucked with this in Australia

Current Gen: AU$50 / $44US / $50CAD
Next Gen: AU$90 / $80US / $90CAD

Digital prices yet to be announced, but I wouldn't be surprised if they're even more than that....

So in Australia it's $22-$45 per hour :|

~$70 in Brazil for the PS4/Xbone version.
Consider yourself lucky...

Jesus Christ. No way in hell I'm paying $40 for 2 hours. I don't mind short games, but that is ridiculous. This has the potential to impact the brand for the tons of people who will buy this expecting to get their money's worth. They should be embarrassed.

I think putting out a game labelled "Metal Gear Solid V" for the mass market and then having them realize that it is only a 2 hour prologue is a great way to build up hype for the full release! /sarcasm

I sincerely hope they discount TPP if you already own GZ. I have no idea how that would work, but it'd be nice. (you'd probably have to get both digitally)

Bah...it's time like these that I hate being an MGS fan. Because I'm buying this regardless. But 2 hours is really short. Here's hoping for replay value.

Does Konami need money this badly

Can we start up a donation stream for them or something

I wouldn't be surprised to hear that the game was originally greenlit (circa 2009/2010) with a projected release date no later than the end of the current fiscal year, that it fell way behind schedule, and that Konami execs would only allow KojiPro leeway on release if they found a way to generate revenue from the project before the end of March 2014.

Basically, it was either a separate GZ release or a horribly rushed TPP with boatloads of bugs and cut content.

I knew it would be short, but not that short. Ugh, I want it so bad but I may actually have to cancel my preorder. If it drops in price before the end of the year I'd feel like a sucker.

Anyone who pays full price for this glorified demo is a fool who should be publically tagged, mocked and ridiculed.

Metal Gear is my favorite series. I held on as long as I could in justifying a day one purchase.

This... god damnit. This is just disappointing.

That is maybe the absolute worst thing about the $40 pricetag. It's reasonably possible for someone browsing through a game shop to see this DEMO, see that it costs forty bucks, and purchase it believing that they are actually buying Metal Gear Solid 5 (perhaps on sale or something).

Wow, yeah, can't really say anything that hasn't already been said. This is really disappointing, especially since I love Metal Gear. I feel I would much rather have not had GZ be released at all, or at least have had it be included as a demo with a different game a la MGS2/ZOE.

God, this is just frustrating.

I assume The Phantom Pain will be $60? $100 for the full game is absolutely ridiculous. I hope this sells poorly because we're in for a rough gen if something like this catches on.

I'd be down if they offered it as a digital download at a discounted price for early adopters, or give a discount on the release of TPP, if not making it free entirely. This just seems greedy.

Big companies nowadays won't be... only us consumers can stick it to them where it hurts...

2 hours to complete a £40 game... fuck away off...

You can dress up as many missions as you want, but sticking the arm in on the back of "the loyal fanbase"... you can fuck away off

So it actually rivals the Tanker chapter in length... This is Kojima's second offense after releasing a 6 hour Rising followed by 2 story DLC and 1 DLC with extra VR missions.

I'll get it when the price drops.

Aw ffs, now it's under 2 hours lmfao

This is going to sell like a sack of shite despite having the MGS name on the box. Konami have gone insane lololol.

I will still buy it day one for 20€, but man... there goes all the hype I had for this game :/

I have a feeling it will be on PS+ reaaaally soon, like 3 months or so after release.

I'm getting confused.

When I was reading this earlier at work this afternoonit seemed to be 4 hours gameplay, and now I'm reading 2 hours.

Has anyone actually confirmed this time, or is GAF deducing it is 2 hours?

As a big Metal Gear fan, i'm boycotting Ground Zeroes because it's a cash grab. If it comes with Phantom Pain then great, but 2 hours for $40?

Go to hell Konami.

Eh, honestly, I'm not in favor of that kind of rhetoric. We all waste money on stupid shit I'm sure. If people are entertained, I think they should spend their money on whatever will give them entertainment. I'm in the camp that thinks it's absurd that they're releasing this at $40, but if people have to get their Metal Gear Solid fix, I can understand it. After all, I may not be buying $40 demos, but when I examine my backlog and what I paid to acquire it, I'm not in a position to cast stones at people for throwing money away on this stupid hobby.

Having said that, I would still encourage people to be a tad more critical though. If nothing else, it'd be nice if people did give a little more consideration about what they're paying for instead of just opening their wallets and paying whatever Konami asks because Metal Gear is on the box.

2 hours... they did it in 2 hours... that's with cinematics? That's not even a good movie length. I don't care how much side stuff in available. This is not even cool Konami...

They, Gameinformer, claimed they had 4 hours hands on with it and that included playing through the main mission and a few side ops, people deduced that the main game must be around 4 hours;

But inside the actual cover story they mention the main mission can be done in 2 hours.

The main story missions was confirmed to be completed in under 2 hours. What you read earlier was the main story and side missions that were experimented by the player.

I love Metal Gear and having just finished reading the cover story, I can't wait for this game. Sure, the main game is 2 hours but there are side missions and leaderboards. As a fan, I'm really excited to see Metal Gear in next gen. I'll be buying the physical PS4 version of the game since I don't mind paying $40.

Why are strippers at the U.N. bad when they're great at strip clubs???
I understand the urge to appease fans (and investors) by releasing a prologue prior to the main series; however, asking fans to shell out 39.99$ for a 2-3 hour game is unfounded.

I hope such practices will not be actively implemented or studied by other publishers depending on the success of Ground Zeroes as we will have only ourselves to blame.

Charging for that demo is ridiculous. Lots of casual players will be pissed it's only 2 hours long. And big MGS fans like me won't buy it ... Good job. I'll wait for it to be 10$.
