Comment from the 2nd pdf:

In the consumer business, although the Group launched multiple titles including “Football Manager 2014” and “Sonic Lost World” in the packaged game software field, sales were low due to the harsh market environment.

I'll be honest, that's better than I expected. I expected 500k as of now. I mean the US sales as of Dec according to the NPD were 179k, and sales were not looking any better in other places.

I don't know what the sold to shipped ratio is, but it might be too big of a gap, I doubt they shipped 640k day 1 worldwide.

Also the comment is nice since they blame the market (which to me is competition), rather than the low install base of Wii U, which makes sense since the 3DS version isn't selling much better, a bit, but not that much. So perhaps in competition that could be the launches of PS4 and Xbox One, or perhaps competition on Wii U which of course would be Super Mario 3D World. (Edit: Nevermind, it was referring to sales of their consumer games as a whole, not just Lost World. Thank you L-A :p).

However, the game combined did less than 30k first month in the NPD, and since it went on to sell 179k in just two months, I think that's not too shabby.

I am betting this might have to do with that sale of the game going on for a while where it was $30, and maybe helped by the patch and free Nintendo-themed DLC?

I mean, its not great, but maybe that helped push it from its extremely low numbers in December?

After that abysmal first week in Japan I feared the worst. This is much better than what I expected.

It's a good game and I'm definitely glad I got it. More experimental than recent Sonic games, so it's a bit rough around the edges at times, but I still really enjoyed it.

I'd copy and paste the charts, but I don't know how people would get that to show correctly on here, I could just snap a pic and post that.

Previews of Lost World were amazing. I was honestly expecting it to be the best Sonic game in years, a solid 9/10 effort. Then the game launched with mixed reviews and kind of fizzed out. I also agree that 640k isn't bad at all, taking into account the poor reviews and low install base of Wii U.

Re-read the comment, the "sales were low" applies to sales in the consummer business, not just Sonic Lost World.

I have to admit, I'm kidna surprised by those numbers.... they're actually not as bad as I thought they'd be. Don't remember Sonic Lost World charting anywhere.

Ah, you're right. XD

You can narrow down the Wii U only shipments. These results are up to Q3 of their FY - so updated up to the end of December. They have a table of platform breakdown of shipments through Q3, meaning the last 9 months (April 2013-December 2013).

Lost World for the Wii U released in October. The Wii U table lists 4 SKUS released in the span of those 9 months for the total of 270,000 copies shipped. So, Lost World for the Wii U shipped at best 270k copies but the actual number is worse because that 270k number is divided with another 3 SKUS.

The ONLY other actual Sega game on Wii U last year was Yakuza 1&2 HD, Sochi doesn't count as that was all Nintendo worldwide. Sold like piss in JP though sadly.

so, counting out Yakuza 1&2 Japanese sales, we can assume that Lost World Wii U shipped 260K of those 270K units :p
That leaves more or less 380K shipped for the 3DS version

I guess so. Anyhow, less than 270k shipped on the Wii U for Sonic World is a pretty bad result.

Can anyone give me the comparison on how did generations do on the same amount of time.

I would love to see whether sega's exclusive deal is a good one or not here.

Did they let Lizuka back into Sonic for Lost Worlds...just curious because he was pretty removed from Colors back when things got good. I think he only worked on Asteroid Coaster on that. I just have to know if maybe his presence was deeper on this title or not.

More like 267k or so. 1&2 didn't even charted on Media Create, I think first week sales for the title were lower than 2000 units.

That's not too bad, considering after launch it was looking like it was 80k combined. Nice holiday boost.

Is it really poor? I thought 600k is quite a good number?

Can u show me how much generations did. I would love to see how much sales Sega lost by making this exclusive here.

http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showpost.php?p=34803044&postcount=345 1.63 million it seems. So about a million more with one platform more (PS360+PC), but also just being one game - Sonic Lost Worlds 3DS / Wii U are actually two different games.

On the other hand, you have to also keep in mind that Sonic Generations was a better game, with better reviews and a stronger focus on long-time-fans.

I was wrong regarding the 3DS version being delayed so much for Generations, please take this posting into consideration: http://neogaf.com/forum/showpost.php?p=99946124&postcount=31

Generations came out on the 3DS as well.

Hmm reading from the thread there. Isn't the best seller there from 3ds? Or I am wrong?

Ah yes, I thought that was in 2012, but the 3DS version was just delayed for two weeks. So yes, for Sonic Generations, too, it's two games across four platforms compared to two games on two platforms in Lost Worlds case. By the way, are (all) European numbers included for Sonic Lost World here? Because Nintendo published it here, at least in Germany.

You are right. Still, they lost a million of sales between Generations and Lost Worlds. I'm quite sure they'd have lost a big chunk of sales anyway between those two games, though.

Considering this is a shipped number between 2 platforms I can't say I find this particularly good until we see future reports and see if they actually end up shipping any more.

I'd also keep in mind the massive amount saved in dev costs, not only did they only make the console version on one platform as opposed to three (PS3, 360, PC), but the game is so obviously a much lower budget game, it's far more simplistic in terms of detail and scope, Gens is pretty damn crazy in that regard.

Most of Lost World consists of floating cylinders, not too far from Galaxy, where Gens had ginormous detailed and complex backgrounds and lighting.

I hope that nintendo deal sega has made will be enough to cover the cost for this 2 games.

i hope sonic team has learned what works and what doesn't because sonic lost worlds was a giant laboratory of ideas and then need to stop experimenting so much for sonic team next game.

It's more than I was expecting.

I hope they will build upon the concept from Sonic Lost World, because I think it has potential. They need to totally change/drop the boss fights, those are awful.

So that'll be hundreds of thousands of copies languishing in the bargain bin? Seriously, the game is lousy, especially after playing the latest Mario title.

What's interesting is that they still list 7 games (SKUs) in total on Wii U until end of FY 2014 (so by the end of March). That couldn't be right. Do they plan to launch 3 more SKUs until then? There is nothing announced, as far as I know.

That's actually not a ad result. Plus sonic has legs.

What are they releasing? At least 2 titles right?
