Dramatic admonishment for daring to speak in my own defense on my own website as I've done a thousand times before. Leave the fool to his foolishness, then. Defending yourself within reason (e.g. you aren't disproportionately escalating back) has always been allowed here and always will be, and response to ad hominem is a necessary part of anyone's communication and debate toolbox, especially on the internet where every other person is an angry bag of hot air - with a minor in women's studies - like our OP here. You're creating an arbitrary set of standards (that I can't ever speak in my own defense or NeoGAF's or the other users here for that matter) and then having me fail to meet them to your liking. I don't know what world you're living in, but on mine it's not faux pas to throw a retort in at the occasional internet shitbag's unwarranted personal attacks whether you're a CEO or a politician or a writer or anyone else who deals with this kind of nonsense on the regular.

In was in school in a class with only 5 Germans rest were mostly turks. And we 5 were treated like shit because we were German. At one time I made the big mistake to go out before them and then some asshole pressed me against a wall and put a knife on my throat telling me to never do this again.

You know what always tickles me pickle? I remember back around 2004-2005 that a girl I fucking hated in high school got her degree in women's studies. Bitch was working at a McDonalds. I made more money than her as a high school dropout selling on ebay with knowledge of video games and how to work people and negotiation. I had no debt. Now, I have debt due to being injured and being unable to do what I once did. Even though I'm majoring in liberal studies, I damn well know to do something useful with it. Women's studies is an excercise in unemployment, or underemployment depending on how how socially acceptable one is.

While I agree with the worthless degree jab and I also agree with not being PC, I also was a bit taken aback by Evilore's response. It seemed over the line to make that response to a person that I feel is likely banned already at that point. It didn't seem necessary.
I am also of the mentality of that if you can dish it, you should be able to take it. Thus, I would have liked to have seen the person able to defend or counterattack said statement. I'd say they'd be more likely to respond in a more eloquent and grammatically correct way, but there's no guarantee of maturity. Some of the most infantile, vindictive and rash people I know are PhD's, you have to remember that while these people have developed their academic sides to the max, this has often come at the cost of life experiences that develop their social and personal sides. Of course I also know people who have managed balance and do both, but it's not a sure thing.

To be honest, maturity does not lie in having a major any more. One of the big problems facing our generation is that anyone anywhere can have a degree. On one hand this is a good thing, levels the field and all that. On the other hand... well let's just say that having a degree is not so much an indication of intelligence or maturity anymore. I know many people with university majors and boy are some of them some of the biggest, narrow minded dumbasses on the planet.

And this said it is also true that Turks have huge troubles to integrate into Germany. I think i read a report once on Die Welt that they are the worst integrated Nation here. I wish moderators and admins made a seperate anonymous account for themselves to post opinions like this about people’s degrees and relegate the moderation accounts to enforcing the tos, not personally singling out posters.

Congratulations, but so did hundreds of thousands of other people. Reading academic journals does not automatically prove your point, you still need to argue your case against your opposition. That's what a PhD thesis is about for example. And to be frank: you are really bad at this. Any academic regardless of discipline should be able to argue a point calm and rational, without ad hominem attacks. Also, one important skill you should have learned in those 4 years, reading lots of papers, is critical thinking. Not everything that is published is correct, indeed a lot of crap is written in academic journals for reasons I won't go into here (that is a lengthy rant all by itself). So, just because you read something in a book or paper somewhere doesn't automatically mean it's true. Your interpretation of often contradictory or conflicting statements and evidence, and using logic to get to a sensible conclusion, is an important part of what makes an academic. Ranting and calling names less so, at least in the Universities I went to and worked at so far.
