The npcs walking in front of enemies? A non issue. The game would have been panned if they triggered alarms and it doesn't happen THAT often.

The ai being too stupid? A non issue. Any harder and it would have been unfair. Iirc that's how they were months before release and it wasn't fun so they toned it down.

Mindless shootouts? Play on Hard-Grounded. Entering a shoot out is basically a death sentence. It becomes an intense stealth/survival game.

These things may have been non issues for you. For me having Ellie leaping around in front of enemies destroyed my immersion and enjoyment of the game. It's a stealth based game. There is no point in it being stealth based when you have a character who pirouettes around the levels. It was terribly designed. There's really no excuse for it.

The A.I being too stupid is also not a non issue for me. I don't get any enjoyment out of a game which has zero challenge because the A.I stand around taking shots in the face, or repeatedly run around the same paths while the player crouches behind a box waiting for them to run to the next spot so they can kill them.

The game certainly has it's good points but I'm afraid it also has some serious issues with it's A.I.

GOAT Game. boi, I wish I could experience this game again for the first time.

Enjoy OP.

Don't listen to people saying to up the difficulty and turn off listen mode. Enjoy your first playthrough with ease/moderate challenge.

Go through it again after you finish with said mode. Its a blast playing on your learned mechanics, skill, and instinct.

Actually I would say turn off listen mode. I can't imagine playing through TloU with that stuff on. It's an immersion breaker to me.

I just started playing for the first time like 2 weeks ago. Just got up to the part where
Joel and Ellie meet Joel's friend who owes him a favor

Not sure if it's the insane hype I hear surrounding this game..but while I'm enjoying it a lot and having a blast, it's not as life changing for me as a lot of posts seem to indicate. I assume it gets even better towards the end?

That's not even half the game. ;)

Give it time. Also, you are playing it 4 years later, too. A lot of games have tried/trying to mimic it's success.

And the game hasn't even properly begun. Enjoy the ride OP, I have finished the game about 9 times now, it's that good.

Fair enough, I am pretty late with this one..it was probably way more mind blowing back when it launched on PS3. Regardless it's still a great game just maybe not to the insane level I was expecting.

One thing I'll say though, Naughty Dog continue to be the absolute kings of character and story. The acting performances they got in this and Uncharted 4 are on a whole other level of quality compared to anything else out there.

That section is not boring to those of us that understand pasing and character progression.

That's a pretty patronising response to a pretty innocent comment. I think most people would agree that everything between the opening and Bill's Town is the least exciting part of the game.

Played it back when it came out on PS3 and it was a great experience, but for me it's one of the most "Great, but completly unreplayable" action games I've played. Tried to replay it twice on PS3 to experience the story again, but quit very early on.

Recently I got the PS4 version and thought "I'm sure the technical enhancement will string me along." but quit shortly after you meet Bill.

All those slow walking and talking and ressource scavanging sections *really* start to drag when you already know what's coming up.

Stupid work.

I just wanna get off and keep playing.

I'm actually thinking about streaming my play-through.

I was replaying it for the first time in years (I had finished the PS3 version but never had finished the PS4 version) and then remembered why - the
fight with David
which is as bad as Bed of Chaos.

Brilliant game and what a journey it takes you on, from the atmospheric and heartbreaking opening, right through to the action packed end. Easily one of my all time favourite games.

I've experienced a possible glitch with the PS4 version. After Joel finds the revolver right before you fight the Clickers for the first time, he gets stuck. Or maybe it's a tutorial, so you have to confirm what's on the screen. But anyway, I think the controls in this game are a little bit horrible. When humans and creatures are attacking you in a group, you can hardly fight back, and the constant reloading is not that great either, because some people are clubbing you while another one is shooting you to pieces. Other than that, it's a great game with the best graphics and story you'll ever see in a PS4 game. Makes me wonder what the PS5 has in store for us in a few more years.

Man, wait till you get to Winter

People who have never played this game (ie dont have a PS3/PS4) are really missing out

One of the best games ever made. I couldn't stop playing it once I started and it was absolutely riveting.

It's a very good game that gets far too much praise and is monstrously overrated.

Man, wait till you get to Winter
Winter is definitely the best part of the game. It actually feels like survival horror compared to the rest of the game.

I have the PS3 version. Can anyone say if the DLC is worth it?
I'd recommend the PS4 version if you can get. That way if you are disappointed with the DLC you won't have wasted time downloading and playing it on an inferior console. Good lord the PS3 is embarrassingly slow at downloading and installing. It feels like I spent more time looking at bars slowly filling up than playing games on that console.

It is a good game for the most part; agreed though that the hype it gets is OOC. It's interesting at how we all have different experiences - the game pretty much tanked for me the first time I saw a deer all the way through the ridiculous end story. Up until then I was enjoying myself - I pushed through expecting it to pick back up but it was dissapointing.

Recently replayed this. Played up til Winter, then the DLC, then continued on thru Winter and so forth.

It was a great experience that way.

just because you don't like a game as much as everyone else does not mean it is overrated. Most people seem to think it is a masterpiece, and plenty of people list it as their favorite game ever. That doesn't mean the game is over rated, because the majority of people agree with it. it just means you don't agree with majority opinion.

I'm not sure what you're getting at here. I said the game is overrated and then you confirm it is by telling me how plenty of people think it is a masterpiece and their favourite game ever. The game is very good don't get me wrong, just not worth over 200 Game of the Year awards. There are plenty of games better than The Last of Us that didn't receive the same amount of attention and praise, hence why TLoU is overrated.

I'm getting at exactly what I said. Your opinion does not outweigh the masses and the critics. Overrated suggests it is getting praise Beyond it's worth - for example, sometimes a movie or game is about the right subject at the right time , and people love on it only for it to be quickly forgotten. Plenty of Oscar winners fit that criteria. However, given the nearly Universal praise for tlou that is consistent and long-lasting since release, it seems to me the ratings are accurate. Most people will absolutely love the game. It is in fact, accurately rated, not overrated.

People seem to like to use the term overrated to imply their opinion trumps everyone else's. But in reality, that you don't think it lives up to the ratings is immaterial , because the vast majority of players will. My point is that the game is not overrated, it seems more accurate that you simply underrate it.

At no point in any of my posts have I stated my opinion outweighs 'the masses and the critics'. Nor am I trying to ;trump anyone else's opinion of the game'. I'm not that egotistical. I'm simply stating that, in my opinion, the game gets far more praise than it deserves. People act like TLoU is the best thing since sliced bread when it's a very well put together game with an excellent story. Not the best game ever but a very good game nonetheless.

What seems to be happening is you're getting really worked up about a video game because someone doesn't 100% agree with your opinion on it. Look at the post by The Bloody-Nine below yours. They've stated that they think it's one of the best games ever made. That's fine, that's their opinion and their entitled to give it. I'm cool with that and not going to childishly state that their opinion is 'immaterial' just because I don't agree with it.

The game is good, which I have stated repeatedly. Just not the best game ever. It is overrated, in my opinion.

The pinnacle of storytelling in the medium. Lots of games are beautiful and fun to play and mechanically tight and all of that, but there is no other that achieves what TLOU does in terms of narrative ambition and emotional impact.

It's a special experience. Enjoy.

So....what you are saying is other people shouldn't praised the game because YOU didn't liked the game as much others.

Whenever someone calls something overrated, of course they are saying its their personal opinion that thing isn't as good as most peoole believe. If most people agreed it wouldn't be "overrated".

Well done on not understanding anything written in my post. Maybe you should read it again and actually pay attention this time. No need to make yourself look foolish.

My favourite game of all time. I’m playing through it for the fifth time at the moment (looks lovely in 4K HDR on a Pro).

I’m very jealous that you’re experiencing it for the first time; enjoy!

Roll on TLOU2.

I think you are one who don't understand. Doesn't matter how you try to spin this but by calling the game"overrated" you are saying the game getting too much praise and you think that because you yourself didn't enjoy the as much as others. That word has become pointless because if you think about it every game thats has good reviews and gets praised is overrated because at end of the day there is always someone out there who doesn't like that well reviewed game. The reality is you cant make everyone happy doesn't matter how great the game is.

Seriously, what are you getting at here? I'm not 'spinning' anything. In your original post you wrote
So....what you are saying is other people shouldn't praised the game because YOU didn't liked the game as much others.

At no point in any of my posts have I stated that people shouldn't praise the game. Again, if you read my post which you once again have failed to do so you would see that I'm fine with people praising TLoU. I too have repeatedly praised the game but made it clear that I don't think it is deserving of the absurd amount of praise people give it.

calling the game"overrated" you are saying the game getting too much praise and you think that because you yourself didn't enjoy the as much as others.

So you've managed to define overrated. Well done...I suppose.

That word has become pointless

The word overrated has not become pointless. Stop talking nonsense.

at end of the day there is always someone out there who doesn't like that well reviewed game. The reality is you cant make everyone happy doesn't matter how great the game is.

Well there's something I agree with.
