Nice thread. I'll buy this game when the price goes down. I definitely like the sixth generation beauty. This game looks much better this way then it would have if it was out for the 360, PS3, or PC.

Huelen...

Anyways I think IGN'll give it in the low 7's based on their impressions/podcast talk.

Edit-

Nice! Animations look really fluid, especially when grinding on rails. Also I'd heard the full track but only the live version, but it's nice to listen to the original.

YouTube quality = blech though.

Just curious is that guy in the upper right corner of the sonic cycle assumed to be pirating games? I always see him with that shit eating grin and that disc.........

The multiplayer in the launch trailer looks lame-ish... hopefully it'll be good though.

Anyways some GIFs I made last October:

Don't worry, he'll probably be back soon enough.

Also I too am surprised that this game is coming so soon after Unleashed but it doesn't look bad. Hopefully the Wii controls and the sword aren't done in such a way to be annoying. Bad Wii controls can ruin a perfectly descent game.

I didn't know hedgehogs and Pinocchios could have offspring with one another.

I liked the first Sonic Wii, and I'm interested to see which direction SEGA took the sequel in.

All these Wii Official threads are making me happy, but the lack of a Tenchu: Shadow Assassins Official Thread makes me sad.

Probably not day 1 for me because I'll have to save up for a DSi, but I'll definitely get it down the line. Just waiting for GAF impressions and reviews.

What character is "Þ"?

Þ is the letter named "thorn" in English. Essentially all of the West Germanic languages used them in literature and represents the voiceless "th" sound such as saying "thigh". In comparison a "voiced" th is ð named "eth" in English, and would be the th sound in "thy". Alternate saying the two words and you'll get the difference.

Hoever Þ and ð fell out of orthography around the time of Middle English and the only living language that retains their use is Icelandic. When people say or see "Ye Olde..." the supposed y is actually a capitalised and stylised Þ.

^That's a "Þ", not a "y"!

actually, i'm surprised to say this after all those years but this game somehow draws me in - it has that original charm of the dreamcast sonics - an overwhelming sense of space. or at least that's what i get from the launch trailer. will be watching it closely.

I'm not gonna lie ...I haven't felt compelled at all to finish Sonic Unleashed on PS3 (and I was one of it's bigger fans) ...I think it's a combination of the dogshit framerate/performance and the uneven gameplay

....but The Black Knight gives me hope!

Holy shit.

I saw the thorn in the thread title and knew I had to find and congratulate the person who put it there. I even knew about edh, but I hadn't realised the "Ye" in "Ye olde" had a "the" sound. For some reason my mind never made the connection (mainly because capital thorn looks like an oversized lower case 'y' written backwards). Mind blown.

Don't know anything about the comics, but apparently it is related.
Specifically, there's a brief adaptation of the introductory cinematic. Basically five pages of Sega advertising to their own fanbase, since Archie can't say no. Same thing they've done for every game in the series since Rush Adventure. I wish they wouldn't, since they're almost invariably non-canon and it takes away valuable space from the main comic. :/

And that cover is exceedingly misleading, by the way.

Stupid question, but is this controlled by holding the wii controller sideways, or does it use the nunchuck? I'm really hoping it's the nunchuck...

Nunchuk, but there may be a simplified remote-only control screen as an option. That's not certain, though.

The game looks like a fresh approach to 3D Sonic, whereas Unleashed was a polishing of the Adventure formula (plus a werehog).

It's an extension of Secret Rings, but it's not really as much an approach to 3D Sonic as it is just a high-speed action game starring the Sonic characters. It's akin to Sega's older approach where Sonic worked as a catch-all action game star, like they still do for the Sonic Cafe cell phone games.

Forsooth!! Thou shalt be commended for thine OP!! But yea, thine heart is heavy for fellow "Sonic Defence Force" member HUELEN10 hath been banned, along with grandjedi6. (Yea, grandjedi6 hated the last few Sonic games and hath gotten on my nerves, but thine man hath great wit, and sharp tongue.)

Thoust awaits this game as eager as a Robin awaits Spring. Thine hopes are high that it will either match or surpass that of it's brethren, "Sonic and the Secret Rings". Thy last 3-D Sonic console game to get fairly well-favored reviews. (However, thyself hast found Sonic Unleashed to be quite joyous despite a few flaws. Curse thine medals to Hades!!)

Thanks for teaching me about that! :)

Very appropriate to actually learn something about this in this thread, so it gave the thread an educational touch, and that is awesome! :)
