A well deserved win, it was a real risk mixing up the standard GOW formula, but it paid off in a big way, can't wait for the sequel to see what awaits Kratos and Atreus after that crazy ending, and even crazier epilogue :pie_mansinger:

(Dont know what that emoji mean, but kinda looks like Kratos lol)

Imagine how it must feel for Rockstar to lose to Celeste and Spiderman. I genuinely dislike the DICE awards especially after they snubbed the Witcher 3 for fallout bore....I mean 4.

Loved a lot of games this year. Definitely not mad about this getting the win. Hoping for more of these engaging singleplayer games going foward.

Skyrim getting 227 GOTY awards in a year where Dark Souls, Portal 2, and Batman: Arkham City were released tells me all I need to know about journalism bias.

This gives God of War 190 awards in a tough year with many great games....And yet, there's still GDC awards and Bafta to come...

Those long posts don't cover that red neck boy
The fact we are covering this in a thread is definitive proof that we are a Sony-biased site.
jk.

Played once and sold it.
Nice visuals. Great presentation. Awful pace. OK story. OK gameplay.

Undeserved IMHO. Another example of morals blinding people for me.

GerAlt-Right. Ciriously.
I completely agree with this and am happy God of War got the award. I had a blast playing it and found the combat to be very well done and deeper than a lot of people give it credit for. It wasn't perfect, but I had a blast with it.

When it comes to production values and story, RD2 was top notch, but when it comes to gameplay it was at times pretty terrible as the term "cowboy simulator" is accurate. RDR2 would have easily been GOTY if it had had gameplay identical to even RDR 1.

I couldn’t play it for more than 10 minutes. It started off so... slow... as a walking simulation and as such a stark opposite from the other games in the series that I couldn’t be bothered.

The earlier games in the series started with a bang, and pulled me in immediately. There was action from the jump. Not here. Sullen. Boring. Not for me. I don’t care for the emotional.

I don’t stick with games that don’t pull me in right away. As someone who grew up playing arcade games that had to hook players in a matter of a minute, I have a short leash on the games I play now and don’t subscribe to the “it gets better later” school of thought. There’s thousands of other games for me to play, so I have no problem moving from one to the next if my expectations aren’t met.

I’m sure there would’ve been at least a somewhat better experience if I could’ve forced myself to keep at it, but the game started so poorly that I decided it wasn’t worth paying any further penance to get there.

Yeah, not only that, but there’s only 1 little Japanese game up there. I’m happy for God of War and I really enjoyed it, but I don’t think that’s coincidence.

It absolutely cleaned up at the show and beat zelda for total awards in the process. Great day for Sony!

It's good to see games released earlier getting that recognition. God of War was always thought to have a tough time against Red Dead Redemption 2.

Also, why did Beat Saber beat Astrobot?
