Twilight actor upset that the other actors would outshine him. How did the choice of Robert "Edward Cullen" Pattinson not get laughed out of the room at Warner Bros?
hes a great actor who has proven himself time and time again. twilight was literally a decade ago.

I was skeptical at first but liked him in Tenet. What does irk me a bit are the rumors saying Pattinson doesn't want to get in shape. I don't know if it's true and is not like Batman needs to be big but it might imply that he is not really that committed to the project.

Will watch regardless. Probably one of the first movies to watch after the world returns to normal.

Ah yes, the groundbreaking and world renowned "koimoi.com" with another Hollywood insider scoop.

I'd say they're very reliable.

What happened to Ben afleck seriously. The guy was boss in Batman vs supercuck.

Was he bitching too much and got dropped? Robert seems too much of feather weight for physical roles like Batman.

Dude, WTF is this site you're posting here?

Where is the source to the statement?

Don't just post without checking FFS.

Didn't Keaton recently say that he wasn't sure about his appearance happening in the Flash film?

More of a detective film apparently, more stealthy.

But yeh I sort of agree

Pattison is a good dude. Deserves to have Batman for himself during his run.

Have liked the man ever since he described his acting for Edward as squinting through painful and itchy contact lenses, while really needing to take a shit. Or something along those lines.

I highly doubt Ben Affleck was bitching, he was the one who was meant to write, direct and star in the next Batman film. Based on how Warner Brothers was treating the Justice League film at the time I could only imagine that they were the ones bitching about the script that Affleck was writing, and he was probably writing a great script too.

Thats like calling Leonardo DiCaprio "that Titanic guy"

Dude has earned his keep and turned into a truly good actor. Twilight (and harry potter) were great ways for him to break into his career.

The twilight vampire as batman is still the worst casting decision ever made.

Nope
Seems like he should try harder to leave a positive impact on the franchise rather than ask for the world to be easier for him and have competing views of Batman that can be possibly viewed as better removed #NOTMYBATMAN

i actually liked that. the guy is already thin and fit. i really dislike this new trend of bulking up actors and turning them into cartoon characters.

If he overweight with a beer gut then yes, thats unacceptable but bulking up for six months for a role is ridiculous and set a bad precedent that all these actors have to now follow. Good on him for bucking the trend.

Shitty source combined with whining about a movie series from over a decade ago, despite being in some great roles since.

Try again loser.

Have you seen Robert Patterson in anything other than Twilight?

The man is an amazing actor. Wait to see the finished product before judging. People complained when Heath Ledger was cast as the Joker, and look how well that turned out.

Jesus. I think it’s be a great idea for the mods on GAF to clamp down a bit on threads about this kind of unsubstantiated click bait rumour bullshit from know nothing sites.

And if people think Pattinson is bad based on Twilight - try watching some movies other than big budget, moronic bullshit, eh?

I’m sorry for you that Zack Snyder’s Justice League wasn’t all that successful, OP.

The weird thing about folks in this thread whinging about Pattinson is that there's a trailer that shows just how fucking good this film is possibly going to be, and how good he looks in it:

Only weird nerds think Affleck is a good Batman. “Twilight Boy” is going to smoke batfleck and prove once again that comic book fans are the worst at casting.

It's going to be Heath Ledger all over again.

All I remember from back then was whinging little idiots crying about the Brokeback guy being cast as The Joker, and we all know how that turned out.

Basically, the only people who still think Affleck was a good Batman are the Snyder fans who can't let go. He wasn't. Unless your idea of a good Batman is a bloated moron, who murders people left, right and centre.

Most fan casting is shit because people go with the most obvious stuff. It’s usually about if the actor has already played a similar role. When casting is announced that steps away from that some people lose their shit because they can’t imagine an actor having range beyond what they’ve already seen.

People complain about every Batman casting. Keaton, Bale, hell the people claiming Affleck is their only Batman were having meltdowns when his casting was first announced.

Weird, isn't it? I don't mind people forming an opinion about an actor's ability, if they've seen them in multiple roles over the years. For instance, I wasn't all that pleased about Ben Affleck when he was announced, because he's never been the strongest of actors - and definitely nowhere near Christian Bale's calibre. But he still gave a decent performance, despite not having the greatest range. It wasn't his fault his characterisation failed, and in another writer and director's hands, I think he could have had a solid, long run as the character.

But as soon as I saw that Pattinson had been cast, I was ecstatic, and I'd long thought he would make a great Batman - because I'd already seen him in movies like Good Time, Cosmopolis and High Life. His catalogue of performances is in some way similar to Christian Bale's independent work. But if the only thing you've seen him in is Twilight, you'd never think he'd make a good Batman.

Don't care, as long as the film stands up to the trailer
This. I've been waiting for a Detective Batman movie for years. Every single director has taken the basic action approach. Nothing wrong with that but I'm all for this mix up.

Yeh I thought Affleck was fine. Him being announced was a "sure, that makes sense I guess" reaction for me. Whereas Pattinson wasn't one I would have predicted so that's much more interesting to me. Especially when we're talking about a character like Batman who has already been done so many times so doing something a bit different is sorely needed.

Twilight is arguably what allowed him to become the actor he now is. The guy became financially set for life early in his career because of those films and can now just take whatever roles interest him and work with people and material that will help him develop.
