Never really liked Guillermo's works that much. He reminds me a lot of Tim Burton in that they are both try to do weird/artsy/dark themes while keeping it mainstream, thought Tim is better at it IMO.
The short story is pretty good, although predictable as hell. It had some creepy imagery, and a nice downer ending that is depressing no matter how you interpret it.

But there was no Goldilocks in his story. There were only the Wolfs, who lived together in a cave above a town. Big Wolf, Middle Wolf, and Little Wolf. Big Wolf was a brute. Little Wolf was timid. Middle Wolf was the peacemaker.

It reminds me of Derleth's Witches Hollow, with a bit of The Wendigo mixed into it. I doubt that ending will make it into the film, but I can hope. I love bad ends.
