Saw this the other night and have given myself a couple of days to let it settle.
What a pile of shit it was. The plot could of been written on the back of a stamp, and I swear I have seen another film in the last few years which had a very similar plot, however I'm struggling to think what it was.
The opening scene was pretty cool with the long tracking shot however they managed to make the helicopter stunt seem boring, which continued throughout the film. The car chase and the
scene both suffered from pedestrian direction and editing.

I liked most of the action in this actually and I didn't feel exhausted watching it which is peculiar for 2.5 hour films now that I'm such an old man. Actual plot was weak but I don't mind that much.

Just got back from the cinema. You know what hurts the most about SPECTRE? It's so... nothing. All the stories of how much of a shitshow the script was, how people describe this as a parody, or even a full on return to the camp fun and sillyness of the classic Bonds, and it doesn't even deliver on any of those fronts. What makes it all the more worse though is the potential they end up squandering. The cast, the locations, the proper return of SPECTRE, everything could've come together so beautifully. It's like, it's like they had all the pieces fo a great puzzle but they fucked up putting it together, jamming in stuff where it's not needed or spoiling parts of the image with the wrong parts. Everything on screen is a big fucking tease to a much, much greater film.

I saw this at the cinema last night. It was my first Bond movie ever. Mostly enjoyed it, it was fun, but WAY over the top. I knew Bond movies had lots of weird gadgets and stuff, but I was still expecting it to be a fairly realistic movie. Some scenes were so unbelievable that I couldn't really appreciate them, like

Another annoying thing is that nobody ever kills anyone, unless the plot requires it, which doesn't make sense. I had seen the Austin Powers movies before, and even though it was clear they were parodies, in my mind they were exaggerating a lot regarding the villain's refusal to kill the hero (something that was called out in the second one). But no, the actual 007 movie went so far beyond that I couldn't help but cringe a couple of times. I mean, what's the point of telling your enemy the entirety of your plan, and then put him through an awful torture session from which he will inevitably escape, when you could have shot him in the head instead and gotten away with everything? And it didn't happen just once; I counted three instances where Bond could have been executed without being able to defend himself. Same deal with the bad guys: why didn't 007 make sure they were dead by putting a bullet through their skulls while they laid unconscious, I'll never know.

Just got back from seeing this. What a boring piece of shit. I didn't even think there was a single cool action scene. Just fucking boring. And, of course, the plot was shit. No one in the movie seems to even care about the relationship between Bond and Blofeld. It's just said, and we all move on.
I liked imagining Blofeld printing out those pictures of M and Le Chiffre and taping them up on the walls. And Q spending time making the animated Spectre logo so he can put Blofeld at the top.
Best thing about it was seeing it in Imax and getting to see the Force Awakens trailer on the big screen with the insane audio setup.

I agree that the whole movie felt about as substantial as the popcorn as I was eating. It just seemed...lacking in tension...for lack of a better term. And the reveal that
SPECTRE was behind ALL the events of the previous Daniel Craig films
What really bothered me, however, was how totally wasted Monica Bellucci was. You don't cast someone that sexy only to have her onscreen for about three or four minutes at most.
I still don't get why this is a stretch for some people, given what we already knew about Quantum being behind the first two movies.
If you thought that was too unbelievable and over-the-top... definitely your first Bond movie, then. :lol

returned to England, the entire final "plan" was a bit half assed in execution and delivery. Surely just having a machine gun in the chopper would be enough to stop Bond. Also, why did the girl leave? I felt it was like a setup for something clever, but it never delivered on anything after that

Yeah, I enjoyed it too. It's different from Casino Royale but equally entertaining. I couldn't say the same about Skyfall and QoS.
Just watched it... and it gave me way too many deja vu vibes... especially after watching Mission Impossible earlier in the year.
Also, the Christoph Waltz was wasted in this role... he could've done so much more.
(what a pointless introduction in the movie too, that giant set piece with minimal talking that barely moved the plot forward).

Same feelings I had. I expected Waltz to play a bigger role or at the very least have scenes where he actually needed to use his range as an actor. After the reveal of who he was in Bond's past everything else just fell flat for me and was so predictable. The best part of the entire movie for me was the train fight.

I've been putzing through the Bond 50 collection for the last year and this past friday I finally got caught up to Die Another Day. I'd seen the 3 previous Craig bonds at least once each so I figured it was high time I go watch Spectre.
It should be noted that Skyfall left me rather cold, I'm not sure if I'd appreciate it more now having watched all of the classics but I was hyped like crazy to see it back in 2012 , I found the action flat , the story kind of dull and the lead up to the "defend the house" bit that makes up the final act just a bit ... ehh.
So because of that I looked forward to Spectre with some trepidation , I knew going by it's namesake that they'd be bringing back the classic connery villains at long last and I knew from reviews and leaks and such that it was tied into everything that came before it (well all 3 Craig entries anyway) but nevertheless I was expecting some level of under delivering.
I'm happy to say for my own sake that Spectre was the followup to Casino Royale I've been waiting 9 years for , where quantum felt rushed and haphazard thanks to the writers strike limiting the plot in a few ways and skyfall felt overcooked , Spectre was just what I wanted. It feels tonally the same as Casino Royale while also dropping in nods to the classics here and there and it genuinely felt like they played with some of the long standing bond tropes but made them work in a way that benefits the Craig Bond universe. Skyfall always felt like it got too hokey at some points and went too serious at others , Spectre is a much more balanced and logical film.
In terms of where I'd rank it - Casino Royale , Spectre, Quantum , Skyfall is my personal opinion for the Craig series.
On the whole for the entire franchise -Casino Royale, Thunderball,Dr.NO,Goldeneye,Spectre, Spy Who loved me,License to Kill, from russia with love, OHMSS,Spectre, goldfinger,Quantum of Solace, Skyfall,Living Daylights, you only live twice,Tommorow never dies, man with the golden gun,For your eyes only,die another day, moon raker,View to a kill,World is not enough, Octopussy, live and let die, diamonds are forever

I agree that the film is far too invested in checking all the James Bond "boxes," but on the other hand it's somewhat unfair to keep comparing every Bond film post-Casino Royale to Casino Royale.

Arguably the best part of the movie is how Christopher Waltz delivers his lines. I don't know how he sounds in the english dub but in the german one, dubbed by Waltz himself if i'm not mistaken, he sounds like a terminator pretending to be a Kindergarten teacher. It's brilliant.
The movie itself is entertaining but nothing special. Standard "it's all connected!" nonsense storyline with entertaining action.
I'm still confused whether or not Bond had

Anyway I liked Spectre. It might have been a bit too ambitious in its scope but it hit all the right notes. I enjoyed how they brought it all together (a bit paper thin I might add) so we can all move forward on the Craig Bond storyline.
Also I loved the Sam Smith song. It's no Skyfall but it's still pretty amazing.

Totally agree. The beginning of this film was great. Then it just turned into nothing. No risk, no danger. Just complete predictable nonsense. I hated Skyfall but at least it had a sense of oh shit. This movie is some how worse than that. Or maybe this formula doesn't work for me anymore.
