saw it on saturday... it was okay. some nice action scenes but the story was flat. i actually like craig as bond, but i always walk out the theatre kinda empty afterwards.


but the biggest question is yet unanswered (or it was, i didn't read the whole thread)

when madeleine goes to bed she is wearing some clothes. bond just sits on the chair, drinking booze.
then when the rat leads the way to the secret room, madeleine is suddenly wearing a negligee.

so either she woke up in the middle of the night because it was too hot to sleep in her regular clothes or drunken bond undressed her and put that thing on.

Some how his testicles and dick still work after Casino Royal. He was also poisoned and quickly recovered from that as well.

Yeah Casino Royale's torture scene is better paced and generally over all just better than the drill bit. No qualms there.

Same old invite Bond in for a nice hotel room stay at my base and then torture him instead of a bullet in the eye. I know it's a super hero movie and I have no issue with the hero winning it's just.. I don't know. This series has been the same as Brosnan's. First movie is wonderful and then the rest fall flat. Brosnan's were more fun than this though.

Just got back from the cinema. You know what hurts the most about SPECTRE? It's so... nothing. All the stories of how much of a shitshow the script was, how people describe this as a parody, or even a full on return to the camp fun and sillyness of the classic Bonds, and it doesn't even deliver on any of those fronts. What makes it all the more worse though is the potential they end up squandering. The cast, the locations, the proper return of SPECTRE, everything could've come together so beautifully. It's like, it's like they had all the pieces fo a great puzzle but they fucked up putting it together, jamming in stuff where it's not needed or spoiling parts of the image with the wrong parts. Everything on screen is a big fucking tease to a much, much greater film.

Well, if this film did one thing it's made me want to rewatch Casino Royale again.

It certainly didn't help that the needles sounded like a goddamn DENTIST'S DRILL going in, played at high volume.

I agree that the whole movie felt about as substantial as the popcorn as I was eating. It just seemed...lacking in tension...for lack of a better term. And the reveal that

was patently ludicrous.

What really bothered me, however, was how totally wasted Monica Bellucci was. You don't cast someone that sexy only to have her onscreen for about three or four minutes at most.

True. If they were going to use an actress simply for Bond to seduce, the producers would have gone with a lesser known actress.

Huh well that was something, I didn't expect it to be outright bad but it was, I was constantly bored throughout.

Craig was sleepwalking, Waltz had shit all to do, atleast Dave Bautista was solid in the heavy villain role, Lea and Whishaw I liked a lot.

The film didn't even have fantastic cinematography to fall back on, the opening sequence was washed out to no end, I figured there was maybe something wrong with the projecter during that scene but nope it looked that way again in Tangiers. The low lighting during the indoor scene was too low, it was dark and everyone was sitting around in the shadows. There was nothing exactly wrong with the camera work but the lighting completely screwed it up.

The Rome car chase was just uninspired, the film was already running on fumes by this point, I felt like I was watching a 6 minute car commercial, no tension.

I do hope they get some brand new screenwriters for the next one.

Going to rewatch Casino Royale tonight.

Just got back from seeing it tonight and yeah, I gotta agree with this.

I wasn't blown away by the movie at any point, but I was enjoying it until that third act. It got so stupid so fast.

Quantum of Solace I enjoy, not a lot of Bond fans seem to. The story leaves a lot to desired, I mean it's just a mess but the charactertizion works extremely well to me, and it's got some fantastic action set pieces.

Skyfall is nowhere near Brosnan's worst, overrated yes but not bad, it has a steller first half and fantastic cinematography.

Spectre in the other hand is the worst Bond film I've ever seen. You could make a case and say that the last few Bronson outings are the worst, but they are entertainingly shit, they are watchable trainwrecks.

I said either a disappointment or outright mess. It's not a perfect 1:1 repeat, just in the general sense that they started out with some of the strongest Bond movies ever and then never really came close to matching that.

Well, I saw this.

I feel like they had the script for about 3 movies and none of them had endings so they rammed them all together but still had no idea how to end it.

Despite the lurching feeling of jolting from one scene to another with very little sense of pacing, the movie actually held itself together well up until the last act where it pretty much kind of fell to pieces because nobody seemed to know how to end it.

I'm baffled that they couldn't find a single screenwriter in Hollywood that could end the movie after all the setup that had gone on before it.

Honestly, I left the movie and I just felt totally flat. A movie just happened and I was completely un-engaged in what happend over the last 143 minutes. Nobody in the movie seemed to be having any fun at all, everyone seemed bored and even the chase sequences felt boring. I felt like Craig and Bautista were playing Need for Speed in real life, it was the most generic and unenthusiastic car chase I've ever watched. Even when he was trying out the buttons and they weren't doing anything and it was clearly supposed to be funny or something, no one in the theater even chuckled. The whole movie was suffused with this total lack of energy, like everyone from Mendes on down felt the goal was to make a competent movie as opposed to an amazing one.

I just got home from watching it in IMAX (or at least that what they consider that here in The Netherlands) and I really enjoyed it. No moment did I find it boring and it was a blast throughout. But I'm saddened that Bond is back to being a super hero, even more so than in QOS (at least he got dirty in that film). Here not a single scratch throughout the entire film even after

In Casino Royale, Bond's injuries would remain visible throughout the movie. Especially the part where he got cuts all over his face, the marks are still visible in concurring scenes. It gave the movie an interesting sense of realism and I really enjoyed that attention to detail.

In Spectre he gets beaten up quite severely, but no visual feedback whatsoever. Such a missed opportunity.

Saw it last week, fun enough but far from the best I'd eve seen in a Bond movie.

1. The Cthulu imagery in the opening was cool, though the sad song didn't really match the whole Bond vs. Cthulu imagery. I'm in the minority who thinks its a decent enough song, but they needed something more epic sounding to make that scene work.

2. I liked how old school the outside of the base looked. Called back to classic bond like they were going for with bringing back Spectre.

3. When the girl was watching her father die and bond is like "don't look," maybe I'm too used to the trope, but I felt like I was missing something cause she was gonna blame bond somehow for the death. The invocation of the trope where the villain showing someone's loved one dying and the hero says don't look without the part where the hero gets blamed for it was jarring for me.

4. Putting Bond in the giant death trap at the end like the classic villains was a nice touch, though it was a little too much like the joker's plan in the dark knight.

5. The day after, I watched A View to a Kill for the first time. Vastly underrated. My personal favorite Bond movie so far.

Well, my favorite Bond movie is Casino Royale and I actually dont think Skyfall is nearly as hot as people claim it to be. And I sort of miss the silly gadgets though I understand why they're gone. Does that help?

I saw it last night and enjoyed it well enough. Don't know how I'd compare it to Skyfall since I haven't seen that one since theaters in 2012. I do remember enjoying it, for what it's worth.

But in terms of this year's spy movies, I'd put it above The Man from U.N.C.L.E. but below Mission: Impossible and Kingsman.

Re watched the movie again. It was not as bad as i thought on the first viewing. But better than other bond movies. I would say the lack of tension is the biggest culprit and seeing the car chase made me realize how much more i want a serious action film.

Also you can see where sony spent the budget in this movie. most other movie now look cheap compared to this
