So fewer Bernie primary voters flipped party in 2016 than Hillary primary voters in 2008, but the lede and presentation of this info is... right, gotcha.
If you want to really go crazy, you can start quoting this CNN exit poll from the 2007 Dem primaries where 50% of Clinton supporters said they wouldn't support Obama. 50%!!! Those racist bastards!

Along the lines of weird exit polls, heres a weird CBS one about McCain voters who would have voted for Clinton 2008 if she'd been the nominee. Its weird to read about how generally liked she was by both sides at that point.

I think the real question is, "How many sanders voters dedicated the rest of their days to slamming Hillary and the Democrats and thought there would be no consequences?". Just because they didn't vote for Trump doesn't mean they didn't cause damage. Those are statistics I'd be interested in.

While the 2008 John McCain was a shitshow, he wasn't an outright white supremacist. Hell, he even tried to shut down dumb fuck GOP voters claiming Obama was a Muslim or not born here. That is unheard of in the modern GOP.

8 years later, the alternative to Clinton was an unabashed and out in the open white supremacist. So to still vote for that says a lot about those people.

Right, it's not even really comparable.

Trump is basically the polar opposite of everything that Sanders stood for, so the mental gymnastics one would have to perform to equate them in any way is nothing short of spectacular.

The. Primary. Was. 16. Months. Ago.

Let. That. Shit. Go.

Well, clearly the party has issues. This is the time to hash them out.

He wasn't though. Only on social issues is that true. Both ran as economic protectionists. (Trump, of course, was lying his ass off.)

Eh I think its important to take away as much as possible from this.

What? Bernie's tax plan alone compared to Trumps was worlds apart.

Trump ran on the old "tax Breaks for everyone" mantra. Sanders was "Tax the shit out of everyone".

Sanders wrote this tweet in November of last year to help repair some of the damage Hillary did to her own reputation from her saying the "deplorables" line. It's almost as if this was said during a campaign that the Democrats were trying to win. Who'd've thunk? Can you imagine if Clinton had said this instead of that true yet tacitly dumb "deplorables" line? This thread wouldn't exist. Though please, keep pointing the finger at Bernie and a few dumb voters who switched to Trump, because we need a scapegoat to a failed campaign for a hard-sell candidate.

They were both running as protectionists, spouting populist-anti-globalism/"globalism" (in trumps case) rhetoric.

This thread was fucked from jump when the OP decided to leave out some pretty crucial context for the data.

Bernie supporters: "She didn't condemn trump supporters hard enough"

other people: "but Bernie vindicated them"

Bernie supporters: "IT'S HER FAULT FOR CONDEMNING TRUMP SUPPORTERS"

The 2016 primary isn't going away folks. The Hillary and Bernie folks dislike each other a lot, and the 'identity politics or focus on economics' debate is going to engulf the Democrats in the next few years. The 2020 primaries are going to be an absolute shitshow.

Voters castigating politicians for not lying to them is such a strange phenomenon

Well, clearly the party has issues. This is the time to hash them out.
All that hashing them out has amounted to is centrists constantly attacking leftists and blowing up a super small minority (with statistical claims that are at odds with other previously known data that reflected this number to be even smaller) . This is pointless as it's just seeming to be centrists dragging up the same old shit. The primaries are fucking over.

Are you implying people who don't like Bernie are centrists? And that the only true leftists are Bernie supporters?

If the Democrats try to shove someone like Cory Booker down everyone's collective throats in 2020, you better believe it will be a shitshow because it literally means they learned nothing from 2016.

It's the new normal till Bernie just fucking retires already. Every time he opens his mouth, is in another pointless poll or article, it's going to come back up. If he cared about the party, progressive ideals or this country (which he doesn't) he would retire tomorrow. But no he's a self-serving jackass who only cares about having time in the spotlight. So this is never going to end till he stops talking - but really his supporters will keep bringing him up even after he dies. So no, it's going to continue forever because #berniewouldawon.

Nah but if you want to continue your tirades against Bernie supporters from a long ago primary when the grand majority of those who supported him voted Hillary, go right ahead. You've constantly insulted us across multiple threads, including this one on this very page, so I don't see much point in engaging with you further when you continually demonstrate yourself to be intellectually dishonest. Talk to me when you care to actually confront the problem the country faces from right-wing extremism/complacency some have in letting it happen for decades now rather than live in the primary.
