So I'm kinda fucked I'm awake since Saturday mid-morning and now it's monday 4:15 am and I gotta get up for work at 7 am at the latest, so do you guys think I should go for it or pull a second all nighter? On the one hand I fear I won't get up in time, on the other hand after that kind of sleep deprivement I'm bound to fuck up at work after one all nigther it's significantly harder to concentrate and not lose your train of thought, but 2 nights I dunno fuck what do you guys suggest?

Set a few loud alarms and put your phone in a place where you'd need to physically get up to quiet it

Source: recently chose sleep over an all nighter for a final project and was glad I did

Get off GAF and enjoy those two hours. Dress for work before you sleep.

Sleep - even just for two hours. All nighters make you terrible at anything the next day.

Welcome to my life. I've been having the same issue for the past 4 years. I've tried all I can, I just can't sleep. I turn off everything but my mind wont shut up.

I just take a bit of ZzzQuil about 30 minutes (or an hour) before I go to bed.

As for the OP: I'd recommend sleep. Even if it's just for a little bit. Last time I went to work and went without sleep, I nodded off every time I sat down. So I spent the rest of the day walking around so I could stay awake.

If you can't walk around whenever you want at your job, I'd go with sleep every time.

Stop looking at bright screens, like computer or phone. That'll keep your brain up. I have a hell of a time sleeping and frequently go stretches with hardly any sleep. For some reason it helps me to switch to sleeping on the floor for a bit. Eventually, it hurts too much to be on the floor and I transition back to my bed, and then I can conk out (sometimes). But yeah...put the screen away.

Don't worry about sleeping if you are too wired, but you should still close your eyes and relax until you have to get ready for work. Give your poor brain and body a break.

Take an ice cold shower, really cold, then towel off and go straight to bed. Works all the time for me.

Sleep

We only recharge when we enter into REM sleep which happens on a 90 minute cycle. Shorter than that you wake up in another stage and you feel more tired than when you went to sleep. 2.5 is better than none.

well saturday night was on purpose it gets me quite euphoric, hyper and very talkative, but it's no good for a work day.

Dude, that's not healthy. I know that sleep deprivation high very well (damned exams), but it's really bad for you.

I also wonder what kind of work do you do. I think it'd be nearly impossible to concentrate on anything after two all-nighters.

I actually find sleeping to be worse.

Sleeping is suppose to be your body's way of naturally recovering. So imagine the damage you're doing when you disrupt that process of not getting 7 - 9 hours of sleep recommended by doctors.

The answer to this for me always lies in how tired I am. If I'm noticeably tired and am thinking "man I want to sleep right now," I'd sleep for a couple hours, if not I'd just do another all-nighter and catch up on sleep later.

You get progressively more and more tired unless you have some "supplements" to aid you

The answer is always sleep even if it's 30 minutes. That could be the difference between getting to work or driving head-on into traffic.

Some sleep is better then nothing. Even just closing your eyes and "resting" is helpful. NASA did studies on this.

Get the sleep, man. I've done the opposite and regretted it. Set multiple super loud cell phone alarms and leave the phone across the room so you gotta get outta bed to get it.

Wake up, eat, and pound some coffee.

You are not feeling well today, and cannot make it in to work.

Make the phone call to work to advise them of that.

Get some rest, and sleep in.
