2012 NBA Mar |OT| Knicks fans now drinking JD in straight shots

Really good article about the work Lin put in during the off season.

In the popular fable of Jeremy Lin's life story, the villains are the NBA scouts and executives who overlooked the Harvard-educated, Asian-American point guard from Palo Alto.

Such a storyline, while convenient, undercuts a key aspect of Lin's rocket ride to stardom. The New York Knicks sensation is thriving not because his skeptics were wrong. Lin is thriving because he realized they were right.

I've never seen anyone work harder than him -- ever.

Damn lol.

lol. Lebron needs thicker skin than to mull over a mid-season loss at utah.

Man, I missed a LeLolz-filled night. I personally went to Nirvana last summer when Lebron choked in the Finals. I figured there were no more earthly pleasures to be had.

Yet Lebron's mental mind made of straw is poised to deliver another postseason humiliation. The Heat should really stroll through to the championship this year. Almost every elite team from last year has been weakened and the upstarts still aren't really battle tested. But Lebron STILL hasn't sorted out his mental hangups. It's not just that he keeps passing in the clutch but he's becoming emotionally broken after an All-Star game and a midseason game against Utah...(sorry Jeff/diehard). He executed the final play correctly as it was drawn up (supposedly) so why cry about it? If Bron Bron had a problem with how the final play went, then maybe next time TAKE THE FINAL SHOT! I highly doubt Spoo would have said, "No sorry Lebron, we don't want the hottest person on the court taking the final shot. It would be too obvious. Let's look for a free-throw choking Wade or a 4 point having Haslem. "

Oh this post-season is going to be fantastic. Indeed. [/omar little]

Part of Lin's weakness stemmed from a patellar tendon injury sustained the previous season. Still, his squat strength was embarrassingly low for a professional athlete. He could do 110 pounds three times

WHAT THE FUCKING FUCK
That's fucking embarrassing.

No wonder he never got drafted.

Only being able to squat 110 pounds almost seems unimaginable for an adult man, but it makes sense for someone with a bad knee I guess. Still pretty bad though. But read the article he more than doubled that in a summer. Shows how much of an impact the injury may have had.

That's fucking embarrassing.

No wonder he never got drafted.

How long after his surgery was he squatting? A week.....A month......a fortnight? We had huge guys on the o-line start back at 125 after knee surgery. I mean for like a coupke of days....

So it appears he use to be lazy and now he is not...

For once I think the media was too harsh on Lebron, and I'm of the opnion the accusations are right. It's just that they're uncalled for now. It was a fine pass to Haslem wide open above the free throw line. I get it's not a high high percentage shot, but it wasn't a bad play. They lost a game, so be it. He doesn't have Kobe's killer instinct everyone wants him to have, but he didn't make a bad play.

By the way, what happened to clutch Wade? I haven't been watching a lot of Heat games this year outside of highlights, but is he just totally gone at this point in his career? (as long as Lebron is around?)

We already went through this last year...I refuse to give more than one fuck about losing in the regular season anymore

My reaction last night was "meh" but I kinda got heated at this one douchebag at the bar I was watching the game at shouting "Everyone go home and burn your jerseys yall suck". Really guy?

Dwyane should be getting a ton of the blame for the end game, not LeBron. I just saw the highlights...don't have a problem with LeBron's last play. It's disappointing when he has to take all the flak for a smart basketball play.

Whatever this shit doesn't happen if you don't go down by 18 to the god damn Utah Jazz.

I was really angry last night when i saw Mozgov roll his ankle on a baseline cameraman last night and everyone takes it as a matter of fact. " And mozgov got hurt"...but no " because the NBA doesn't care about player safety" following it. Rolling your ankle by landing on a player's foot? Sure, that happens. Rolling your ankle because you move too far under the basket and get tangled into a camera man? No, that shouldn't happen and shouldn't be an obstacle in playing the game of basketball and i'm always pissed when people treat it as part of the game.

People have been sitting there since the day they removed the cage from the court. They players are use to it and they want them poster shots. This injuries are rather infrequent and focusing anger on this issue is befuddling.

I don't know what's up with Wade this season. It's like he gives less of a fuck ever since Lebron came in. Where the fuck is God Mode Wade from 2009-2010????

Agree 100% even though I'm not a heat fan+ watched it live.

Lebron drags them back into the game at the end with good D and a crazy 3 with 24 seconds left while Wade chokes at the line.

Last play double teamed and gives the ball to a good midrange shooter with an open 16 footer. If that's a "bad" shot Haslem shouldn't be on the floor or even the team anymore.

Sad thing is if he stood at the top of the key and dribbled into a bad jumper at the last second people would just troll LOL LE ISO RIGHT GUYZ while other players get credit for taking bad shots like that.

Vinny is worth 5+ loses a season, he is that bad. Would rather hire a random nba assistant without looking at the resume than have Vinny, odds are they can't be worse.

Wade hasn't put in much work to play well next to LeBron. The first thing you do as a 2 guard playing next to Bron is learn how to spread the floor with your jumpshot. Wade has basically decided to never shoot 3's and it's going to bite them in the ass in the finals due to defenses clogging the paint.

Dude was chucking up (and hitting) contested 3's all 4th quarter, he punks out on the last possession and it's because he was trying to make the right basketball play? Come on son...

He had time, a lane to the basket, and no one in the paint, he should have drove the ball.

They ran the right play. Haslem was open, but he missed.

Nothing more to it.

Watching that game, Wilt looks so much better than Russel. His teamates outside Thurmond were ass, though. They gave him the Dwight treatment. Didn't even bother throwing him the ball.

Boston's perimeter D was very good. And they knew how to pass. Wilt's teammates couldn't pass or catch or shoot very well at all.

You've probably had your fill of 60s basketball for a while but this does a decent job of demonstrating Russell's defense and how he was so good (the second quarter in particular):

Do you guys think Spol might've actually drew that play up?? PnR and obviously Lebron getting doubled, Haslem wide open at the line. Makes sense, but fucking seriously? Go to Wade/Lebron, not damn Haslem.

And I give LeBron and the heat props for running that play. Because the Jazz bit really fucking hard with that help defense.

No look bounce pass to the top of the key. Lots of swag on that play, too bad he missed.

And they just won, what, 10 or so games by twelve points or more. Prisoners of the moment, indeed.

Yes, because Udonis has shown no ability in his life to hit mid-range jumpshots.

What has always hit me about 60s/70s era ball is the lack of help defense. Even if Wilt was playing against a backup center double teams and rotations were super rare. Also almost noone besides post up men got to the rim on a consistent basis that team defense mattered. It's like Bill Russell knew how to play defense in the future and was teleported back.

Not this year.

If that's the case it's Spo's fault for calling that play and having him in the game.

In an interview with ESPN the Magazine, Gloria James, LeBron's mom, explains why LeBron went straight for the NBA: "It's not that he wanted to skip college... he was forced to! There was a hole in his vaccination record. That boy just never wanted to take that last shot!"

Heat game has put fear into the defending champs:

Mavs decide they need Lamar Odom ASAP for tonight's game against Utah. D-League stint canceled. Story w/Jeff Caplan going up now @ESPNDallas

The goal was often to get the rebound and get down court before the other defense could get there.

You won't even see a huge amount of perimeter D even from greats like Havlicek, Frazier and West because they're more interested in playing the passing lanes and being able to break down court once a big gets the board and outlets.

Westbrook would have loved it because you were expected to fly down court and immediately jack a twenty footer because that leaves more time for quick twenty footers later.

But it saved Sterling money, so it's all worth it.

It's believed Del Negro has an "offset" with the Bulls which would require Chicago to pay the difference if the Clippers are paying Del Negro less than the $2 million remaining on the final year of his Bulls contract.

haha, Jon Barry saying Lebron failed tonight. Nothing like a perennial scrub calling out an MVP.

ESPN made sure to show Wade missing his FT.
Seriously, damn ESPN has to be the worst carrier of NBA sports in history. A bunch of fucking idiots sitting around talking nonsense. Broussard, Wilbon, Barry, and Magic? Change the channel, please!

Actually, if I remember right, Udonis has hit like 2 or 3 game winners against the Jazz

But his mid range shot has died :(

And yeah seriously Jon barry STFU I don't mind if the criticism comes from Magic but don't act like you know what success and failure is

Magic sucks too. Gives horrendous analysis. "You've got to play better, in order to win." Thanks a lot there Magic!

Magic does say a lot which ends up with him not really saying anything but I respect his analysis naturally a whole more than Jon Barry. Hell, Tim Legler was a scrub too but at least he doesn't talk for the sake of talking.

Jon Barry was worthless as an NBA player, is worthless as a commentator, and is worthless within his own family.

We agree there.
