I think most guys will still be there in two years. We'll try to ditch Kaman maybe throw in aminu or someone in with him to get a good pick. But Jack's played well and i think he'll start for the next couple years until there's a great pg we can draft. Ariza isn't awesome but defensively he's good and Okafor is a good enough center to at least come off the bench for Davis.

Definitely, guys like Ayon, Vasquez and Jack guys you want to have on your team. Ariza and Okafor too if you don't take their contracts into account.

Gets max deal, voted All Star, not the best player on his team

It's funny though because he has "stats" but when you watch an Atlanta game it feels like he's invisible. And not the Lebron kind of invisible. It's just there's nothing interesting, memorable, or unique about his game. He's just a kind of good second or third option that somehow conned GMs into thinking he's a superstar.

He can dunk.

He seems to be living off the 06-07 season, it's the only good one he's had. The sad part about it is his playoff performances for the Hawks are fucking abysmal

2008 - 20ppg, 40% FG, 44% 3s
2009 - 16ppg, 42% FG, 35% 3s
2010 - 18ppg, 39% FG, 22% 3s
2011 - 19ppg, 44% FG, 43% 3s

If anyone cared at all about Atlanta he'd be crucified for it.

I think Wallace has been the better player since 2008.

That's his game. He kind of quietly gets random 20-5-5.

He doesn't explode and give you 15 points a quarter.

Just kind of 3-7 points a quarter, maybe 1 or 2 assist and 1 or 2 rebounds.

Add it all up you get nice stats, but doesn't have that impact that you would think it would have had.

I watched game 1 of the 2004 finals today. Such a different game. The Pistons completely controlled the pace on both offense and defense.

Also, Doc Rivers was doing color commentary

Fuck Larry Brown. Watching him utterly fail in his post-Pistons career was pretty cathartic. I hate that man immensely and hope his dick no longer works.

Joe Johnson plays gobs of minutes and has the ball a lot. The former fooled the Hawks into giving him $80 million, the latter convinced them to give him another $120 million.

It gets him nice per game scoring numbers but just to pick one stat as an example, he has exactly as many seasons over 18 PER as Ryan Anderson. And has never cracked 20. The other two guys who have USG% > 26, MPG > 35 and PER < 19 over the last four years are Monta Ellis and Stephen Jackson.

His rebounding % over the last four years is exactly the same as Kyle Korver. And lower than Adam Morrison's career figure.

He'd be a nice third or fourth guy at half the price.

Atlanta's built like the 1998-00 Pacers and Blazers. Only they don't have the bench.

That's almost the entire series. To the point they were putting Corliss Willamson on Shaq to rub it in.

Just finished watching game 3. Jesus Christ almighty I don't remember the Pistons D being that effective. Just amazing. I felt like there was a steal or block on almost every Laker possession.

That was the year they held eight straight teams under 70 points.

The team was totally dominant after the Sheed trade. James/Hunter shut down bad bench backcourts. 34-24 when the trade happened, went 20-4 to end the season and were 36-11 including the Finals.

I can't hate on Chauncey, even though he won the Finals MVP that year. Dude was, and is to a lesser extent, a true baller.

Sheed, Ben, Tayshaun? They make my LeBron hate look like dream's puppy love for Duki.

Yeah but if the Lakers won that series, Karl Malone would have a ring. And that would somehow end up a bigger win for Jazz-age than Lakers-age.

It's true. It sucked at that time, but now? People can continue to trash Karl Malone and keep sane people from considering him one of the best. Payton deserved a ring, and he got one later.

also established the terribleness that is Finals Kobe, it worked out well.

I think Adelman is doing a good job, but the last few games should have clearly established that he should start:
Rubio
Webster
Williams
Love
Pekovic

Payton aged so dramatically over the course of the 04 season.

It feels like the aging process often takes place over the offseason. It's not too often that you see a guy start the season as a good player and end as a lifeless husk of a man. But that was Payton in 04. He actually led the Lakers in scoring in their first game of the season against Dallas. In the Finals, he got destroyed by Lindsay Hunter.

Pretty cool how Kobe has won it twice since Shaq left.

1-8 three out of four nights is ridiculous. I was really hoping he would be more Nash than Kidd just for entertainment. Hopefully he develops, but the ROY award is auto-given to Irving at this point.

It seems like Rubio has hit the wall, hard. His shooting and assist numbers have been down month-on-month. The condensed schedule certainly doesn't help.

Irving is not exactly lighting it up either, however. He shot 42% in Feb and averaged roughly the same points as in Jan despite playing 6 more minutes. So I wouldn't say either is the clear cut winner at this point.

The Clippers version says he tried to become the same thing for the Mavericks:

Everyone who believes this conflict would have never arisen if the Clippers had not become a hot ticket should realize the team has been having these discussions with Bailey for five years.

And everyone who thinks Bailey is simply a Clippers "fan" should understand that several years ago, he says, he flew to Dallas to explore Mark Cuban's offer that he become a Mavericks "fan."

Many have said that the Clippers are Scrooges for not allowing Bailey to make money from their name. But it's not about the money, it's about the image.

"Shouldn't we have a responsibility in having some part in how he represents us?" Lahr said.

Bailey's most celebrated unsanctioned Clippers appearance occurred when he organized a parade without their knowledge in support of signing LeBron James, about to become a free agent. Even for an organization accustomed to embarrassment, it was truly a moment of humiliation. Fewer than 50 fans showed up and, because the parade was held amid the crowds and closed streets in front of Staples Center before a Lakers playoff game, the marchers had little room to march.

One of the best examples as a guy who went back and forth between overrated/underrated.

Always seems to happen with the fringe all-star type guys that get overpaid (Turk/Iggy/Gay/Johnson/Granger).

Rubio's numbers will get better once the Wolves get a single competent wing player. Adleman also leaves him in an awkward position with Ridnour at the 2. Can't find the numbers but I'd be shocked if his stats with/without ridnour on the floor aren't night and day.

So is Anthony Davis KG or Tyson Chandler?

Closer to KG or Hakeem than Chandler. People are way too hard on his offense. He's 18, he's played as a big man for less than two years, his footwork and athleticism are awesome, he's got a decent variety of skills that, if he puts them together, could make him really versatile and hard to stop.

Did you just compare Davis to Hakeem?

There is no way Davis remotely resembles Hakeem on the offensive end. Not even close.

I think Webster will be starting pretty soon. Adelman just seems to want guys to prove for a while that they deserve that starting spot before he makes a significant change. I can respect that. What Adelman does do that I like is that he always goes with the hot hand, and Webster has been getting a ton of minutes lately due to his improved play.

Williams has to show that he can actually guard quicker SFs, since I dont think there is any way that he could have guarded Batum when the Blazers went small
