Imagine a Zone mode where instead of flashing, going from one sone to the next would cause all the color to bleed, water paint style.

Inspired by this thread, I decided to try some of these filters on older games. I took screenshots in WinKawaks, applied XBR 4x with ImageResizer, Dynamic Auto Painter with the Benson preset at 24 Mega Pixels output size and resized and cropped to 1080p where needed.

Wow, really good pieces here. Especially the Wipeout, SOTC, Mario Galaxy and a few FarCry 3 ones.
Tried this too a few days ago but had to cut a part for a 16:9 picture because it was a old 4:3 pic i made with my old PC. Now its 1280x720. I used various filter from Photoshop and ACDSee.
Will try to do a few more later.

Thanks for that. Seems like a great software. I think I might purchase it. Much better watercolour look than what Topaz can provide although both have their uses. Here's a test shot that I deemed worthy of uploading.

EDIT: Just bought it
EDIT 2: Link to software

Far Cry 3, 3840x2160, Dynamic Auto Painter; Realism preset with slight modifications; 16Mpix output, cropped "unregistered" watermark, Resized to 1080p.

Gohdan boss fight. Used Photoshop CS5. Threw on 3 different filters but I don't exactly remember what they were, just messed around till I got what I wanted. Hope you guys like it! First attempt doing something creative with photoshop other than pasting funny heads onto different pictures or making Pokemon teams.

These are great. While many wouldn't work in a real game for reasons of clarity and playability, this thread does make me wish developers and publishers were more adventurous with art styles for games.

I didn't think it was possible to make the game more beautiful. Nice.

I've been basically rummaging through my screenshot collection in no particular order and testing this filter-program. It has a great filter for the simplified look that is actually better than topaz simplify in my opinion, but I'm more fond of the aquarell preset.
Here's some Far Cry 3:

Far Cry 3, 3840x2160, Dynamic Auto Painter; Aquarell preset with reduced brush size and color palette from Corot Sevres; 16Mpix output, Resized to 1080p.

Original, since I have it uploaded

Far Cry 3, 3840x2160, Dynamic Auto Painter; Aquarell preset with reduced brush size and color palette from Cezanne 1897; 16Mpix output, Resized to 1080p.

And here's a couple of bleak Alice shots:

Alice: Madness Returns, 1080p, Dynamic Auto Painter; Portraitist preset; 16Mpix output, adjusted lighting values, Resized to 1080p.

That´s a nice shot. i love the hand painted look on the sky. Is the saturation cranked up on purpose?
For artistic purposes of course ;)
Sort of. I was messing around with the various auto painter settings (watching auto painter "paint" is fascinating), and found this really bright palette for one of the styles that I liked, and then blended it with some black&white hard edged version of the original shot. That made bunch of the edges really dark and contrasted with the bright palette nicely, I thought.

Well, It turned out nice. I've been messing with the DAP too. I tried the defocus mask yesterday on a portrait shot that would'nt work with the portraitis or the sargent filters and it turned out ok-ish. Not posting it though since I'm not too happy with the end result. Better than previous tries, but alas there is so much you can do.
The original shot was flawed slightly, and the painted shot looked "off".

On a whim I decided to try DAP with an older game.
Here's a couple of scenic shots from the original Far Cry taken today with my laptop for this purpose
.
Realism preset created banding in the sky of the first shot so I went with Aquarell.
Far Cry, 1080p, cropped HUD, Dynamic Auto Painter; Aquarell preset ; 16Mpix output, Resized to 1080p.

So yeah i'm criticizing so i had to try myself with different tools. (Mainly Dynamic Auto-Painter with different layers and some photoshop processing for the colors))

Used a capture from Alo81 in the Dolphin thread

Sorry about the aliaising in the picture. I used a very small portion of the whole shot, like 840x473 out of 3600x2024.

Alice: Madness Returns, 3600x2024, cropped to desired composition, Dynamic Auto Painter; Realism preset with defocus mask on the background; 16Mpix output, Resized to 1080p.

Fantastic job! These are my new favorites in an awesome thread. Would *love* to see more 2d fighter pics. Samurai Shodown 2 or MotW?

Technically not a screenshot, but I figured I'd post it anyway. A while ago I gobbled together this wallpaper from Bioshock Infinite's press kits and such for a competition. And now I messed with it in DAP, Photoshop etc.

I'll remove it if anyone thinks it goes against the spirit of this thread. :p

Looks great! That type of stuff is alright to use here. I should probably edit that into the OP somewhere.
