Yellowstone is overdue for an eruption, isn't it? It's been a while since I've seen any specials about the supervolcano there.

More like 22 earthquakes in the last 36 hours or so. But still bad. :lol

Interesting that they're almost all in the exact same place too. And definitely right under the caldera.

I live in australia and even I'm worried. The amount of ash a supervolcanic eruption causes ruins food supplies all over the world.

Does anyone know how many small quakes it normally has? If it was that much to worry about I think we'd know. There would be a few more people than GAF'ers monitoring it.

start to worry a bit more, pulled this off wiki (I think we can take this one as fact considering I don't think anyone goes out of their way to deface the "Caldera" article :lol)

"When Yellowstone Caldera last erupted some 640,000 years ago, it released about 1,000 km3 of dense rock equivalent (DRE) material, covering a substantial part of North America in up to two metres of debris."

or check out Supervolcano a docudrama.

The earthquakes are coming from inside the park!!!

The earthquakes want to lull you into a false sense of security.

I'm sure we could just bury it in debris before it all goes out.

Considering the last earthquake before the batch in the last day or so was on the 22nd, I'd say that's not true.

It seems like it has periodic clusters of earthquakes, though, and that the frequency in general has been increasing over the last couple years.

Holy fucking shit. I knew that we already had pretty much overlapped the mandatory 500k/600k years between the last caldera eruption, but this is shocking.

Also:

I'm curious as well. Maybe this isn't quite relevant?

I wanna think that way really.

GAF will not be the first to find out if it is significant. Go back to bed.

Pretty much what I've been able to find.

Let's see how those fucking hippies feel about saving the Earth when the Earth is spraying molten lava all over your face like some porno gone horribly wrong. :lol

Well, I guess if the quakes were big enough we should worry but they seem to be really tiny, unless I am reading the map wrong.

And you see I thought Florida would be the end of America, not the least populated state that no one cares about. WE CARE NOW WYOMING! LOOK WE MADE YOU A STATE QUARTER!!

Mostly small quakes. IIRC just 5 or 6 went above 3.0 richter.

Yep, cause if someone who happens to be a God-fearing Christian and lives a few miles from Yellowstone and is instantly killed in the event of a SuperVolcano scenario, that all fits with that bible verse, right?

so what happens if you don't believe in that campfire tale? will you not be affected?

this comes to mind:
Paul Anka: To stop those monsters 1-2-3,
Here's a fresh new way that's trouble-free,
It's got Paul Anka's guarantee...
Lisa: Guarantee void in Tennessee.
All: Just don't look! Just don't look!
Just don't look! Just don't look!
Just don't look! Just don't look!

Maybe i should have posted
this one
For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind (II Timothy 1:7

Uh oh!

Well, at where I am, it probably wouldn't kill us, just drop temperatures significantly, give us 2-4 inches of ash and cause mass chaos, power outages, and food shortages. That's not so bad :lol

(NY State btw)

C'mon, I'm religious, but you know that's not a good idea to post those here.
