3DMark06 - Coming Wednesday, Jan 18.

holy mother of all cows, 06 shits all over 05 in those comparison shots. the improvement in every detail is huge, too bad my PC can't run this test at any rate. i would love to see that in motion at a steady framerate.

I will try this when I get home. It will probably run 5 fps. Not because I have a crap computer but because the last two and probably this release will run like shit on a top of the line computer when it comes out.

I'm so disappointed in this 3DMark. It blows. It is a refresh of old ones, and they really don't look that great either. I wanted to be WOWed with something.

Jeez, what did you expect to see? There's nothing out there that even touches this technically, and some of the scenes are very pretty too. The snow scene in particular.

Isnt 3Dmark usually spaced two years apart? 01, 03, 05 etc. This seems more like an intermediary version I guess. But yeah, its already kind of showing its age as crazy as it sounds.

Yeah, I really have to question what was going on with those, and how relevant they are. My PC rarely creeped over "0fps" in those tests

I think the CPU tests are basically rendering the scene in software, with the GPU out of the equation. Would make sense why that portion of the test always crawls like that, not exactly general processing's strong point.

I was expecting Killzone CG!!! haha

I did 4130 on my PC.(7800 in 3dmark2005).
The canyon demo was really impressive. The demos are just updated versions of the those featured in 3dmark2005 but the quality and complexity of shaders is vastly improved.

My score, dunno if it's good or not, the comparison on their site is fux0r3d.

Loved the improvements but my score is meh :\

Hehe, well apart from animation, which these guys couldn't possibly have the resources and time to do (or it would even be necessary for GPU testing), and smoke effects, that snow scene and ballon ship scene probably too, technically do some key things better than that Killzone trailer. Subsurface scattering looks awesome here, and so do shadows (which together with fire effects were the low point of KZ trailer). I guess I just don't expect any kind of crazy action direction in a demo like this, but as a tech demonstration and eye candy it delivers in spades.

I don't feel like paying for this and my 3d card is only shader 2.0 compliant so my computer ran only 4 tests total. Scored like 500 , I got like 4500 or something in 3dmark 05 though. Meh, it runs games well enough.

I scored a 4888, but I didn't get to run all the tests :|

At least in the old versions you'd get to run all the benchmarks, that sucked. Not even the fillrate crap either...

You can run all the tests that contribute to your score, just like last year.

Specs:
AMD x2 4400
7800 GT SLI (XFX brand)
2GB ram (patriot)
Abit AN8 (?) SLI mobo

5022

Baby version (if that makes a difference)
Asus 7800gtx 256
2 gig ram
3.0 Pentium D
Asus P5WD2 Premium Motherboard

I have the same setup, sans the VC. I guess I will be looking at ~7000 scores.

My AMD64-3000,1 Gig of Ram and GForce 6800 runs the benchmark like absolute sh!t. The CPU test is like watching grass growing literally :lol
By the way, Futuremark should allow Sony, MS and Nintendo to do native ports of the benchmarking suite. The consequences would be endless hours of fun in the Forum. :D

ouch!!

1927 3DMarks

SM2.0 756

Time to upgrade the gfx card already!?

Pentium D 3.0
Geforce 6800 256mb

Damnit, my crappy monitor doesn't support 1280x1024 res. With that said, the Demo version of 3DMark06 is stuck at that resolution and I can't change it (need to buy the full version to change these options). So when I try the test, my screen goes out of its max frequency range and gives me the warning sign with colorfull background...

:(

How old is your monitor?!

2503
SM 2.0: 1163
HDR/SM3.0: 1043
CPU: 658

1280x1024

P4 3.0 Northwood 800 FSB S478 HT ("3.0c")
Abit IC7 Max 3 mobo, all stock settings
2048 MB of PC4000 DDR1 RAM
Audigy 2 ZS
Nvidia 6800 Ultra OC
Seagate 160GB barracuda SATA150

My CPU score is awfully low. Weird because in other benchmarks it scores too high to be accurate. When I OC it to 3.6 GHz, it outperforms the single core 4.0 GHz that was never released.

That system is fine. Should run new games at medium-low settings smoothly.

These benchmarks are terribly inefficient.

Its not that its old, its just that I bought it cheap (about $90 CRT from Wallmart). I've been planning on getting a new monitor..but i'm stuck with this one for now.
