3DS Ambassador - NES games are available for download... now!

I haven't really used the eshop on the 3ds at any length, but it felt like I was using it incorrectly. Is there really no download all option or queue? is it really supposed to kick you back to the main screen after each download? are you really supposed to open a fake package to play the game? also the first time I've used the 3ds d-pad at length. really uncomfortable position. i have other things I can whine about too.

anyway, it's cool the games have the suspend functionality like the Wii games. I started Mario, quit out, came back, and it was where I left off. Nice feature, especially for a portable system.

are there any additional hidden modes?

I don't disagree with you. When Nintendo stepped down from Mount Sinai and saw us crawling around in the dirt with our graven idols it bent down and bestowed upon us a gift. "Take Yoshi's Egg," Nintendo said, "Take Yoshi's Egg and be enlightened." And we did, and we were. But Nintendo's brow furrowed and its face fell into a concerned expression "I warn you, friends-- do not dally. This deal expires within 24 hours."

Are you angling for Reggie to give you a blow job or something? Are you sure your body is ready for that?

"Your battery is slow. Plug in your AC Adapter".

Wonderful, it's like they took the worst features of shitty 2005 PSP and put them in a 2011 system!

Not just that but we should be able to download the games in the background. The iPhone has done it for how long?

exactly. Nintendo is way past even Square-Enix levels of paranoia about brand fatigue. It's like they're worried about the current market perception of their 25 year old 8-bit system.

They should've gone balls out and offered 50 NES games or something. That would get attention and still cost them about, oh, jack shit.

yeah, i know they're not, but that doesn't mean they don't exist and that everybody doesn't know how to get them easily. There's Nintendo's "official" feeling of how valuable they are and then there's how valuable they actually are, you know what I mean?

Even not taking that into account, as someone said, they've even released some of these same games multiple times over the years in various forms.

Took awhile to download due to needing to go back to that page over and over, but I finally grabbed all the games. Only had one failure to connect error (just quit the eshop and came back in).

What does the Ambassador certificate do? Should I keep it or can I trash it?
It's there so you can receive SpotPass updates for the ambassador programs. As of now SpotPass notifications cannot be targeted at individual 3DS units, but they can be targeted at specific software on your 3DS.

I am not sure you really need it installed to receive the notifications since you can receive SpotPass for retail games when said games are not plugged into the card slot, so I assume the 3DS uses the play history to receive notifications/DLC. Running it once then deleting *might* work, if it still remains in your play history.

Sony gives away Infamous after its PSN downtime. Nintendo takes a shit on $80 of their early adopters' money and they offer a ROM of Wrecking Crew.

or at least have 50 games available and let us pick the 10.

Why not offer the entire NES library? Would cost them about the same. Shoot while we're at it they should just include the entire GBA library too.

Oh ok, never use Spot Pass (whatever that is) so deleting away!

Kissing your sister on the mouth is legal too, but walking across the street can get you a ticket.

I don't care about the legality; I care that these are portable and working properly.

If you'd rather have Infamous than these good games, I'm surprised that you don't revel in being shat on.

Pfft, they should have included their entire virtual console library, and a couple of hookers. It's $80, man! Price drops on hardware are inexcusable.

Whoa son. Let's not be spitting lies now. InFamous and these games are both on the right side of quality, let's leave it at that.

Psh. Agreed man. That new car I bought? When I heard they dropped the price a thousand dollars a few months after I bought it, I marched right back to that dealership and DEMANDED the difference PLUS the manager's daughter for marriage!

technically it's wrecking crew, nine other NES games, and eventually ten GBA games.

in effect, it's getting the ketchup critter and mustard monster for free when you buy your happy hot dog man. sure, the commercial says it's a hundred dollar value for $11.99. but maybe you only wanted one happy hot dog man.

sadly it's one of those things where simple consumers, myself included, will continue to buy products day one. smarter folks would rightfully feel burned by nintendo and would be less likely to get the Wii U early, or something like that. these 'free' games are trying to rekindle the trust that should have been lost.

I don't mind either way. I'm the best type of consumer: I buy system day one and pay for it every time, literally and in other senses. These free games are neat bonuses.

I prefer Open Golf's take on the grinding mechanic.

Also, programming a different emu for each ROM to make emulation as pixel perfect as possible is also very time consuming for devs. FYI, your typical freeware emu is not nearly 100% accurate: lots of games glitch, have slightly fucked up music/sound on them, some stuff (like the triforce animation in Zelda ALTTP) is either faster or slower and have a lot of hacks and quick fixes to make the most popular games playable. As a matter of fact, the most accurate SNES emulator out there needs a 3GHz processor to sync everything perfectly to avoid that.

I mean, emulating stuff for the VC is not about "throw ROM on generic emulator and call it day" like most people sadly tend to think "thanks" to warez.

I hear in some countries you would have gotten a few camels too. I'd say it's the bare minimum to justify something as absurd as a price drop.

Seriously, it's a little extra for a price drop coming earlier than usual. We usually get nothing. People complain anyway because they wanted more (not sure what exactly?).

Maybe...maybe...but is this really the thread for this?

Is the Ambassador Certificate really just a big video to let you know you can receive notifications via SpotPass? Couldn't they have just sent a notification for that?

And is there anyway to re-map the button controls? Think I'd prefer to use Y-B rather than B-A for the Virtual Console games...

Psh, Nintendo really should've offered us shares in their stock. But I suppose then we'd have something else to complain about.

Because it costs X amount of $ to get one game rated by the ESRB; also it uses up company resources to create the console emulator for 3DS, then make the game work on the emulator ,and finally QA testing. 50 at once will cost a lot of money and resources especially with how strict Nintendo is with the high standards of these emulations. With retro re-releases they will always be staggered releases for maximum potential of profitability and so that Nintendo won't burn through the game library that they can put up.

wow... what the fuck are you talking about?

oh, I just saw the commercial... I don't think this is a valid analogy

Nintendo cut the price earlier than expected. Sony compromised my personal information.

People just loooove to complain.

I tried start, start+select, and select when starting the game. Doesn't seem to do anything like with Gameboy and DS games.

a) it's a joke
b) you actually looked up the commercial lol

you definitely ordered a happy hot dog man

eShop -> My settings -> My downloads -> Scroll to game -> Click game -> click download game, after download click continue -> my settings -> my downloads -> scroll to game -> etc

Would have been nice to not have to do it for each game, the "my downloads" menu crashed twice for me too, with an error, had to shut off, coulden't even close and re-open store.

Still, they are free games.

Don't forget people. Nintendo owes you even more, as you are entitled to these games. And by God, if they don't give you what you want, you should just go download it through whatever means necessary!

I refuse to believe the majority of, 'argh, i can't believe this is it!' posters actually own the system. At least we don't have the 'all these game should be in 3D! They just have to turn on the magic 3D switch to make it a 3D Classics!' guys today.

Nintendo just shot themselves in the foot.

I don't know how much the rest of you know about Nintendo fans (I'm an expert), but honor and shame are huge parts of it. It's not like it is for other companies where you can become successful by being an asshole. If you screw over Nintendo fans, you bring shame to yourself, and the only way to get rid of that shame is more free games.

What this means is that the Nintendo fan after hearing about the price drop expected more than 10 free games and will not purchase any future Nintendo handheld or games. This is HUGE. You can laugh all you want, but Nintendo has alienated an entire group of customers

Nintendo, publicly apologize and give us more than 10 free NES games for the 3DS or you can kiss your business goodbye.

So, you know we're receiving ten Game Boy Advance titles as well. And the NES emulators will be updated to include features like Save States. I guess we really got screwed.
