Guys, and ladies, you don't have to do an update post for every movie/book. Just update your original post. At the end of the month, that is when you post an update of what you watched/read throughtout the month.

Makes it easier.

Is it okay to post once a week? I wwas planning to do that since I aim to watch four movies and read two books per week.

It's better to do it at the end of the month, so the thread doesn't get cluttered and it is easier to keep track of things. If you want to post semi-regular updates for books or movies, there are separate threads for that.

More Pricks Than Kicks by Beckett 3/5 stars- It was alright, some interesting stuff to think about afterwards, but kind of a slog to get through. Love and Levette is great though.

Movies
1. Interstellar 4/5 stars - Starts off interesting, but kind of weak. Surprisingly emotional. Me and my roommate cried. Really enjoyed that lame ass fight scene. Also the music in the last half was very strong.

2. Hateful Eight 5/5 stars- What I expected, violence, swearing, a lot of tense conversations. It's more of a whodunit mystery than i thought, and there's a lot of subtle things done to hint at what's going on. Fantastic acting all around too, mostly being pulled by Sam Jackson and another whose name I will not spoil.

3. Making a Murderer 3.5/5 stars- Kind of manipulative in how it presents the facts, but even so, it is very on point with the messages of corruption and ways media can bias us, that the series most wants to get across.

4. Ridiculous 6 3.5/5stars- Oh wow, this is pretty offensive. Also the funniest thing Happy Madison has put out in years, but still. Do the good bits outweigh the brown face? Not really.

5. Antman 4/5 stars- It was fun and good and there were quite a few funny laugh out loud moments. But marvel movies are starting to feel a little samey. They're still good, but tonally they're not really differing much. This one tried to subvert some, but not enough to make it different. Still, good movie, though the train gag from the trailer was still the best gag.

6. King Fu Panda 3/5 stars- Better than i thought. Some fun bits and montages and fight scenes. Though lacks a certain complexity. I know, kids movie, but do movies have to limit themselves from complex character motivations that much?

For movies what about Netflix series? I'm about to start the marco polo one. 10 - 1hr episodes seems like its a epic film.

Some say yes. I say no. Up to you really.

Film is a medium of its self. I'd say yes to a feature length documentary that could have made it to the oscars or a film festival. Or a feature length made for TV one off drama/play or something. And one outstanding short film or something just cause - and I'd be very careful here.

I understand what people mean by length of the seasons, but I list TV seasons separately my self. I watched 12+ seasons a year including anime in the last couple of challenges.

The purpose here is to get you to watch more films, not TV seasons.

Milksheikhs 4/50 Books | 17/50 Movies

1. Kill Bill Vol. 1 - the moviewas very violent, but overall I enjoyed it. The hospital nurse was the most scummy character ever.
2. Meet the Fockers - this was lighthearted and humorous. Ben Stiller isn't really a favorite of mine, but the movie was okay and didn't feel like a waste of time.
3. Snowpiercer - I love these types of movies, but I don't really know how to explain this other than by saying I somehow felt cheated by the ending
like what was the point if almost everyone dies. I mean great you stood by your principle but idk. Also, wtf to the guy who you thought was dead but just won't fucking die and shows up at the end. Sometimes that works in movies..this was not the case.
4. Kill Bill Vol. 2 - yeah I still think hospital dude was the most scummy of all the characters. Really loved the ending. Bill is a complete narcissistic psycho (kind of remind me of an ex of mine)
5. Star Trek IV: A Voyage Home - I really enjoyed watching this movie with my family. It was funny and has a good message but wow what a random plot.
like really some random ass probe comes out of nowhere and the only hope to save earth is to go back in time and get two humpback whales???
6. Bewitched - Love Nicole Kidman (she's adorable). Hated Will Ferrel. The movie was meh. Felt like I could've stopped watching at any point and not cared to finish.
7. The Martian - really solid acting. I enjoyed this movie a lot. Despite the ending being predictable..I still wanted to watch every minute of it. Like oh damn what's he gonna do now?
8. 5th wave - predicted ending from the beginning pretty much. And no minorities? Guess I'm not surprised but idk this movie I was like conscious of that while watching it.
9. Catwoman - not even sure what to say really.
10. 13 Hours: The Secret Soldiers of Benghazi - lot to say about this. will come back and edit it.
11. Wet Hot American Summer - really not that great tbh.
12. Frank - I really liked this movie and I loved the music.
13.Hotel Transylvania 2 - cute movie, but I was so tired I struggled to stay asleep at the very end.
14. Zootopia - such a deep and insightful movie and also very relevant. I just have to comment on movie theaters though. Like why do they have to be ridiculously over the top loud? It's just not necessary.
15.Me,Earl, and the Dying Girl -
fucking liars!
16. 9/11: The Falling Man - very disturbing and powerful documentary about the famous falling man picture taken on 9/11. Had me thinking what would I have done in that situation?
17. Wreck-it Ralph - Loved it!
called a lot of things in that movie, but i wasn't thinking that the candy king was turbo
Books:
1. Pawnee: The Greatest Town in America[/b] - So, I'll start by saying that this is literally the greatest book I have ever read in my entire life (read in Chris Traeger voice). But more seriously this was pretty humorous and if you like Parks and Rec, then you'll like this book. It's very casual and easy to pick up where you left off whenever you have free time.

2. Animal Farm by George Orwell- really loved this book. I had been meaning to read this for awhile. Really glad I did.
3. Man's Search for Meaning by Viktor Frankl - wow what a powerful book. Really amazing and very insightful. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this and recommend it.
4. Persepolis - almost made me cry at parts. Definitely can't wait for the sequel cause it felt unfinished.

Gonna try this out. Movies.. I definitely got covered. Books..that's gonna be the challenge (especially because I just had my first kid two weeks ago) but I'll try my best!

Blame Atraveller, but I'm in.
Hey!
I'm in thanks to these two knuckle heads. I watch a ton of movies & read a lot of comics, but I got a Kindle paperwhite for christmas (it's witchcraft how it looks like real paper) so maybe I'll read more than a few novels this year :) Letterboxd and Goodreads profiles (both need a bit of updating i'll get to it this week)
