Please tell me I'm not the only one who noticed that Spaceballs is a parody of Star Wars., so yes the beam sword is a light saber.

I think I can kind of see it. I love Suda. He's a role model when it comes to what he can do and such. I'd really like to talk to him to see how I could accomplish what he has. He's my favorite game developer out there so far.

The Mikami story and his Duran Duran fashion are the best parts. What a cool guy. :lol

This reminds me I still need to try No More Heroes 2. Suda, I'm sorry to let you down. :(
Just for that, I won't be buying Sin & Punishment 2 day 1. I'll even tell all my friends to wait "a really long time."

I love Suda 51. He just does whatever the fuck he wants. The fact that his games are kinda rough is part of what makes them work. Punk-rock baby.

Such an awesome and humble man. His fucking great!
Also Travis for Smash!

And what is this, europe doesnt get the bloody version?????

In Spain is Nintendo the one who brings it. Hope that means we at least have blood...

Is there anyway to get it cheap? I checked Amazon, but it was like $70 used and $100 new. I don't care how good it is. For a 20 year old game, $70 is way too much.

Really fascinating info, Suda 51 is such a cool guy.

The hotel in No More Heroes is also a movie reference. "It's modelled after the room Guy Pearce stays in during Momento."

All I'm saying is that if this was a Western guy nerding out over the Japanese equivalent to these things, NeoGAF would make fun of him.

That said, I find his affection for "mainstream American and British things I've discovered since I became a teenager" adorable and like his video games quite a bit. I think he's on the low end of video game auteurs, but it's a pretty short list and everyone on it's competent. I love his attitude, too. MAKE MORE GAMES, Suda! And great list, list maker.

He definitely has the right mind for making games and he has a friendly personality judging from a lot of comments there. I hope he can make the big time in the future.

Not personally a huge fan of his games, but I'm still glad people like him exist and are able to fight for (and hold onto) their own personal vision and see their creative process through. He strikes me as a cool dude.

He`s the Tarantino of games. And im not really saying that just because of the violence. Both of them use a lot of their huge pop-culture knowledge in making their art, among other things.

The Beam Katana used by hero Travis Touchdown isn't inspired by Star Wars. "It's actually inspired by Spaceballs!"

And Spaceballs was "inspired" by Star Wars.

Ergo, The Beam Katana was inspired by Star Wars.

I must admit, I sort of like how Japanese designers just admit that they're perverts. Bigger breasts and porn. It's a nice antidote to the homoerotic bromances Western developers seem to be obsessed with nowadays anyway (although, watching Cliffy talk about how there are girls in Gears 3 as if it was THE BIGGEST NEWS IN THE WORLD was kind of hilarious).

Nice guy with interesting ideas but his games never clicked with me. Killer 7 was a good game but NMH was average, I hope NMH2 is better.

I don't think that's entirely true. People have played Suda's games and have seen that the influence our culture had on him isn't only superficial whereas Western games that were inspired by the Japanese mostly result in some american anime or furry shit.

Just have to point to Tarantino and Kill Bill (vol 1).
