52 Games. 1 Year. 2020.

7h-ish. Hardened difficulty. Completed Operation Chaos but not Red Circus.

I'm the rare sort of guy that still plays Call of Duty for the campaign only, and I have to say, Cold War didn't disappoint. While the plot wasn't as consistent as in the Modern Warfare games (I'm not a fan of the whole "you've been brainwashed and the whole thing has been a lie" thing), the setting is very original and the gameplay has been spiced up with some stuff that CoD never tried before, like lockpicking, side-missions or non-action levels. Gameplay-wise, the Cold War campaign is very solid.

Also, the game is graphically very pretty. RT has been used to its full effect and the mood lightning in the levels is really effective. Some say that Modern Warfare looks better - I don't really know, as I didn't have a RT-capable GPU back then. But even if it's true, Cold War still looks impressive.

My Score: ★★★★

89. Donkey Kong Country 2, 10/10
+ it's a classic
+ legendary soundtrack

90. Marvel's Spider Man, 10/10
This my new favorite PS4 game.
+ makes you feel like Spider Man
+ it's like Batman Arkham, but better
+ web swinging
- some of those stealth sections

91. Mario Tennis Aces, 8/10
+ controls like the N64 classic
+ character selection
+ adventure mode is surprisingly fun
- some levels suck though
- tournament mode feels like an afterthought

92. Judgement, 9/10
+ amazing story and characters
+ it's a Yakuza spin-off
- no karaoke mini game
- detective gameplay stuff gets boring by the end

93. Doom Eternal, 9/10
First game I beat on the Series X :messenger_savoring:, runs super smooth and loads lightning fast. Never managed to finish it back in March, because it fried my One X, lol.
+ fucking intense
+ feels super rewarding, when you get the mechanics down
+ soundtrack kicks ass
- almost too intense at times
- platforming and exploration is kinda hit or miss
Let's go with star ratings from now on, looks nicer :D

94. Devil May Cry V: Special Edition ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
+ the best hack and slash game becomes even better
+ loads quickly and looks gorgeous on the Series X (fuck Ray Tracing, 4K60 all the way)
+ playing as Vergil is pure joy
+ Bury the Light is song of the year

95. Call of Duty Black Ops: Cold War ⭐⭐⭐⭐
+ pretty interesting campaign for COD, some really memorable levels
+ cold war setting
+ one of the better zombies modes
+ mp is predictable, but fun
+ looks great on the series X
- doesn't really innovate
- crashes from time to time
- ridiculous file size (thank god you can uninstall components you don't use)

h-ish (Probably over 2 hundred or so).

And here we go with the final game of the 52. I really wanted to like BfA. I really tried. When the expansion was first released, I formed a Mythic+ group and put in a lot of hours. I unlocked all the Allied Races too.

But I just couldn't get into the setting. Compared to Legion's exhuberance, it was all so... plain. The content patches which added your tipical endgame areas full of malicious geometry and elite mobs did nothing to spurn my interest, and I finally stopped playing like a year ago or so.

Shadowlands looks nice and I'll be right there from minute 1 (I already am, actually) but I'm glad BfA is over.

My Score: ★★★

Gentlemen, we can rebuild it. We have the capability to make the world's first enhanced store. Steam will be that store. Better than it was before.

Game 54 - Unravel Two - Xbox Series X - Completed Nov 27th, 2020
It's been a while since I've finished any games, thanks in part to Watch_Dogs Legion losing my save file after 40 hours. Over Thanksgiving weekend, my son and I finished Unravel Two in couch co-op mode and it was a lot of fun. However, the "story" of this game made absolutely no sense. The smoke dudes were trying to attack a lighthouse, but our yarn guys had to go and save some kids from another smoke person... or something? Really insane stuff, but the puzzles (especially in co-op mode) were a lot of fun.

Game 55 - Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity - Nintendo Switch - Completed Nov 30th, 2020
Wow, what a game. This seemingly came out of nowhere but absolutely blew me away. I enjoyed the original Hyrule Warriors but this game seems to have taken the formula of the first game and perfected it. There are a huge number of quality of life improvements pasted over the shiny coat of new Breath of the Wild flair! While the story was ultimately a bit of a let down, the game made up for it in excellent gameplay filled to the brim with collectibles and light RPG mechanics (leveling up characters, trading loot for upgrades, etc.) which I really enjoyed. I'd say the only downside to this game was that it ran terribly - there were times where the game's FPS would drop into the single digits, even in docked mode. Like, killing a large enemy with bombs pretty much guarantees that things are going to get laggy. Despite this, I would still recommend this game whole heartedly, especially if you're a Zelda fan waiting for BotW2.

96. Yakuza: Like A Dragon (Series X) ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Wow, what a game! I'm a huge fan of turn-based RPGs and Yakuza, so this game is a dream come true for me. Combat is fast and fun and the writing is excellent as always. So many great mini games this time around as well. One of the best Yakuza titles and a solid goty contender!

Edit: When it comes to Series X performance, it's so nice to see this engine running in 60fps. Also, loading times are pretty much non-existent!

82. The 11th Hour (PC) - 5/10
Yikes. This one was a complete mess. Never could get my PC to run it as a kid and now that I finally can... I realize that isn't very good. I felt 7th Guest held up in some regards with the puzzles, this one I didn't enjoy many of them.

83. Kirby 64 (Wii) - 6/10
I found this to be a harder Kirby game than most...but it still wasn't that difficult. It was slow and not a ton of fun either.

84. King's Quest VII (PC) - 7/10
This one holds up pretty well. The art style was controversial at the time but I feel it holds up pretty well. You can tell that the ending was definitely cut short though.

85. Astro's Playroom (PS5) - 8/10
Had a blast going through this game. It was a lot of fun finding all the charming PS memories. It really made me a believer in the new controller too!

86. Demon's Souls (PS5) - 10/10
Loved it! Playing this at 60 FPS with barely any loading and these graphics was amazing. I need more!

Ah, I'll scrap my thread and just join this one. Sadly, I haven't completed anything since September, I'm in one of those off gaming periods where I can't hold onto a game for longer than a fifteen minutes without getting an itch to turn it off. Hoping Cyberpunk will cure it.

Games I've completed 2020.

The WItcher 3 + expansions (10/10)
Ashen (6/10)
Darksiders 3 (7/10)
Bioshock Remastered (8/10)
Wolfenstein 2: TNC (5/10)
Darksiders Genesis (9/10)
Bayonetta (8/10)
Transference PSVR (7/10)
Resident Evil 3: Remake (6/10)
Sairento VR (7/10)
The last of us 2 (7/10)
Ghost of Tsushima (9/10)
Mortal shell (7/10)
Tony Hawk Pro skater 1 (9/10)
Divinity Original sin 2 (10/10)

Games I'm currently playing in 2020.

A slew of games I've played for fifteen minutes and left in my current gaming folder.
Spiderman Miles morales in very small chunks.
COD: MW 2 campaign
Occasionally: My penis

Games in hibernation that I might retry from where I left off.

My Penis: A recurring effort

I don't think I've finished a single game this year. My goal then will be to beat 5 games before the end of the year.

Game 56 - The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past - Xbox Series X Retroachievements - Completed Dec. 5th, 2020
I played through the GBA version of this game for the monthly SNES game club, mostly because I didn't already have all of the achievements for this version. I also wanted to see the differences in the versions, since I had somehow never played this version before. For added fun, I played this using Retroarch on the Xbox Series X which obviously handled this like a champ. The game is still amazing and easily one of my top 5 games of all time. I was a little disappointed in the down-sampled music but that was more or less expected of the GBA's hardware. Otherwise, I found this more challenging than my usual playthroughs really just because it was hard to break my old habits with the new controls. Overall, an amazing game still.

What time is it?
Completing all of this seasons Weekly and Stage 1-4 Free and Premium Challenges will probably be my last game of the year for #56. My love of Rocket League was wavering going into the season, but the lack of creativity and absurdity of some of the challenges broke the camel's back. Still probably my game of the generation. 23,574 games played. Phew.

97. Astro's Playroom ⭐⭐⭐⭐
Fun little game, perfect intro to the features of the new DualSense controller that left me wanting more. Hopefully they'll do a sequel at some point.

98. Dark Souls 3 ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
First playthrough. Tough game, but highly rewarding. Nameless King is one of my favorite Souls bosses for sure, such an epic fight!

99. Spider-Man: Miles Morales ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
More Spider-Man goodness, can't complain. Looks fantastic and plays soooo well on the PS5. It's great that they got rid of the filler stuff that plagued the first game.

Game 57 - Kingdom Hearts: Melody of Memory - Nintendo Switch - Completed Dec. 11th, 2020
I really enjoyed this game although I was slightly disappointed with the lack of good Disney songs to compliment the worlds. There seemed to be a lot of supplemental music that, while quite good, wasn't very memorable. The standout for me was the recap movies that told the story of the Kingdom Hearts games (as good as it could, I suppose) and I felt like that was good since I didn't play a few of the side games. I also hadn't finished Kingdom Hearts III before playing that which was probably also a mistake but oh well. The ending of this game was nice but also Kingdom Hearts levels of mysterious and silly. Overall, a solid rhythm game that probably would have done better with a lower price point.

My reviews/thoughts:
1. Remnant: From the Ashes: was not as good as I expected and I genuinely only enjoyed it mainly because I was playing it with a friend. Decent combat, and some cool boss fights but everything else was meh. https://steamcommunity.com/id/stealthycockatrice/recommended/617290/
2. Dark Souls Remastered: I played the original when it came and never finished it, giving up half way in for no reason and honestly after so many years of playing all souls-like game except the first and now finally finishing it I can safely say I regret my choice back then. Fantastic game but not without its many issues and inconsistencies.
3. Death Stranding: Overall it was okay, better than my initial thoughts about it at launch after I gave up on it but certainly not something I would recommend to my friends unless they truly are desperate. Nice cinematics, visual, ending moments with the most boring gameplay I ever had the displeasure of facing. It's a miracle I did not give up on it and it's a miracle that I sorta also liked the gameplay mechanics of helping others.
4. Doom 2016: Just as when it came and even 4 years later it's still one of the best first person shooters ever made, with amazing soundtrack and awesome gunplay. The hype for Doom Eternal is unreal. https://steamcommunity.com/id/stealthycockatrice/recommended/379720/
5. Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night: Nostalgia and creators renown is the only reason why this game is so overwhelmingly positive reviewed on Steam because besides fun combat and exploration everything from level/character designs and story is pretty meh. I just barely gave it a thumbs ups. Might chage my mind later. https://steamcommunity.com/id/stealthycockatrice/recommended/692850
6. Ori and The Blind Forest Definitive Edition: Decided to replay Ori since the sequel is around the corner so gave the Definitive version a go and the game sitll holds pretty damn well after 5 years and it's still one of the best platforming/metroidvanias out there. https://steamcommunity.com/id/stealthycockatrice/recommended/387290
7. Whispers of a Machine: It pains me not to recommend this game but honestly from a boring/average story to ugly backgrounds and overall atmosphere, the game just doesn't set itself apart in this genre. Music and voice acting were good tho. https://steamcommunity.com/id/stealthycockatrice/recommended/631570/
8. Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice: My opinion when I finished it at launch still stands even after finishing it a second time and getting the true ending. Weak story/lore, atmosphere, and level design than other soulsborne games even though vertically it's better, but with incredible, challenging and satisfying combat. https://steamcommunity.com/id/stealthycockatrice/recommended/814380
9. The Division 1: One of the best atmospheres in games, fun gameplay in coop but weak/lackluster story.
10. The Beast Inside: Absolutely weak horror game, with a generic story hidden under nonsense spy stuff that goes nowhere, half walking sim with weak puzzles and other half horror walking sim with basic cheap scared. Avoid it. https://steamcommunity.com/id/stealthycockatrice/recommended/792300/
11. Ori and the Will of the Wisps: One of best metroidvanias out there and not only that but one of the best games ever made as well. incredible soundtrack, atmosphere, fantastic gameplay and an emotional story. While it may not feel fully fresh compared to the first, it's an improvement in every way. https://steamcommunity.com/id/stealthycockatrice/recommended/1057090/
12. DOOM Eternal: DOOM Eternal, the sequel to one of the best first-person shooters, brings the same amount of fantastic gunplay while changing the pacing of the game to a more platform'ish type of gameplay. https://steamcommunity.com/id/stealthycockatrice/recommended/782330/
13. Resident Evil 3 Remake: Resident Evil 3 Remake is a very hard DLC to recommend, ugh I mean game, especially at its current price but it does nothing truly bad and overall I enjoyed the experience despite its many shortcomings. https://steamcommunity.com/id/stealthycockatrice/recommended/952060/
14. The Division 2: Finally played it entirely with the expansion and end game and it was fine overall but gotta say the end game is utter boring and having to do the same missions over and over for the same boring ass loot is annoying. Nice atmosphere and soundtrack, weak story but addictive gameplay until you reach endgame. 7.5/10
15. Persona 5 Royal: When I initially played 2-3 years ago Persona 5 I didn't like it that much. Was okay at best but maybe I was too harsh with it or my tastes may have changed over the years but after playing Royal something clicked and somehow I managed to replay the same game again even with the extra stuff and I enjoyed it and the extra stuff with Maruki had nothing to do with it. Great atmosphere and soundtrack, loveable characters, but the combat was boring and repetitive and boss fights are too long and cheap. I enjoy a challenge but after 30 mins with that final boss from Royal on Hard, I was really getting annoyed that it would just not end already.
16. Call of Duty Modern Warfare(2019): Honestly didnt expect much considering the last few cod games but I enjoyed it, especially the characters and the stealth missions that were superb. Nice soundtrack as well. Too bad they didnt risk more or no memorable mission like in cod4/mw2 but an enjoyable game nonetheless.
17. Gears Tactics: Overall an extremely boring experience, not much tactics at all and with very repetitive missions so mucch that I just could not play 3 per day. Story was weak as well but at lest the voice acting and the visual effects were pretty nice. https://steamcommunity.com/id/stealthycockatrice/recommended/1184050/
18. Dark Souls 3: Decided to replay it since I never played the expansions and just like the first time my initial opinion remains the same, maybe a bit worse due to poor expansions. Base game is good, I love the genre and the combat but it's my least favorite from all due to meh environments/atmosphere and how unbalanced it feels at times. Playing as a pyro felt like cheating. On the other hand the expansions look nice visually however the level design are absolute shit. The first Dark Souls remains the best.
19. The Forest: I was shocked how bad this game was based on how well received it was from people. Did no one play a survival game before this one? Or a horror game? Here are my full thoughts from my coop experience https://steamcommunity.com/id/stealthycockatrice/recommended/242760/ but to put it shortly, extremely buggy, unfinished, janky and the 15 mins of actual story was hardly any shocking.
20. Hollow Knight: This is also a replay because I wanted to see the true ending and everything I missed when I first played it on PC when it launched. Its not a perfect game and a lot of objectives are a fucking mess and you just have to guess shit and while I love a good obfuscated plot, I think they could've made this a little better. Still one of the best metroidvanias out there. Excited for the sequel.
21. The Last of Us 2: Had a lot of mixed feelings about this one but I decided to recommend it because despite a bad/boring story, it's still a high quality game with one of the best animations in gaming, good voice acting, fun gameplay, etc. While most will say it's a story focused game, I think the whole package matters more. Ellie plays wonderful and theres no reason not to play it if you're a fan of the first game. You just gotta see her fate until the end. Fuck Abby and everyone else.
22. The Outer Wilds: The mystery and reveal was not as good as I hoped it would be so the overall point of the game failed to capture my emotions but the exploration and the worlds themselves were really cool. https://steamcommunity.com/id/stealthycockatrice/recommended/1051200/
23. Trover Saves the Universe: I had a lot of fun with it, gameplay was kinda meh but the humor and randomness was top notch but it's only recommended if you like Justin Roilands work.
24. Desperados 3: one of the best strategy games out there especially if you're a huge fan of stealth like I am. Amazing work from the devs. https://steamcommunity.com/id/stealthycockatrice/recommended/610370/
25. Green Hell: p[rolly one of the better survival games out there especially in coop and this is coming from someone who hates these types of games. It also comes with a pretty good story. https://steamcommunity.com/id/stealthycockatrice/recommended/815370/
26. XCOM Chimera Squad: eh it's best you stay away from it, it's not bad has some cool ideas but as an xcom game it's just meh. Cool soundtrack tho and the importance on your squad should be something future xcoms could do. https://steamcommunity.com/id/stealthycockatrice/recommended/882100/
27. Ghost of Tsushima: Overall a solid game, combat is satisfying as hell but the stealth which I prefer was okay at best. Atmosphere is top notch but after a while due to it's boring open world gameplay loop you get bored of it and the story while it has its moments doesnt really do anything special.
28. Larry Wet Dreams Don't Dry: classic point and click adventure with all it's faults and feeling stuck in the past but overall the humor and the atmosphere was quite nice. https://steamcommunity.com/id/stealthycockatrice/recommended/765870/
29. Crash N'Sane Trilogy: well done remaster of the classic trilogy, has its issues and some things have not aged well at all but overall fun game to waste time. https://steamcommunity.com/id/stealthycockatrice/recommended/731490/
30. The Norwood Suite: an unexpected good game, a very artistic first person exploration game with a unique atmosphere. Short but worth it. https://steamcommunity.com/id/stealthycockatrice/recommended/696480/
31. Man of Medan: one of the worst games I ever played and a horrible horror story. Avoid it. https://steamcommunity.com/id/stealthycockatrice/recommended/939850/
32. Control Ultimate Edition: a nice rtx showcase game with a well crafted atmosphere but the main story was kinda eh. The writing and the lore behind it tho is great. The gameplay gets boring fast. https://steamcommunity.com/id/stealthycockatrice/recommended/870780/
33. Wasteland 3: a huge technical mess with an incredibly poorly crafted atmosphere, only recommended on a huge sale. Main story and rpg mechanics as well as combat are good. https://steamcommunity.com/id/stealthycockatrice/recommended/719040/
34. Star Wars The Old Republic: played the bounty hunter story line and it was decent with the typical sw tropes, but overall had fun.
35. Mafia Definitive Edition: a visually impressive remaster but the combat is pretty average and except the racing and driving which are absolute shit the rest of the game was quite good. https://steamcommunity.com/id/stealthycockatrice/recommended/1030840/
36. Borderlands 3: a feminist wet dream when it comes to story and characters but it gets saved by fun gameplay, great soundtrack and nice atmosphere. https://steamcommunity.com/id/stealthycockatrice/recommended/397540/
37. Hades: I hate roguelikes with all my heart, never managed to finish one ever because the gameplay loop always got boring but Hades? Hades has a fucking story a huge one and really amazing characters to meet and learn and interact with. I still hate the gameplay loop but Hades does it better than all the others. Hopefully this is the first step in the right direction for the genre. https://steamcommunity.com/id/stealthycockatrice/recommended/1145360/
38. Amnesia Rebirth: the first amnesia and penumbra games redefined the horror genre and when Rebirth came I was expecting something just as good or better. It was worse, much worse. It's a shit horror game with a decent story. You can skip it. https://steamcommunity.com/id/stealthycockatrice/recommended/999220/
39. Visage: this game is the first horror game since probably Alien Isolation that actually made me panic and scared. A fantastic horror game let down only by its one particular chapter and the ending which was shit. https://steamcommunity.com/id/stealthycockatrice/recommended/594330/
40. Ghostrunner: unexpected surprise, a combination of hotline miami with mirrors edge in cyberpunk. Really great fast paced game with a decent story. https://steamcommunity.com/id/stealthycockatrice/recommended/1139900/
41. Yakuza Like a Dragon: I love the yakuza franchise and this is a fresh start for it in the form of jrpg. Ichi the new protagonist while hes an idiot hes emotions surpass Kyrius. Great game. https://steamcommunity.com/id/stealthycockatrice/recommended/1235140/
42. Larry Wet Dreams Dry Twice: the sequel to the rebooted larry franchise, a step up in the right direction and while again doesnt do anythign special for the genre this time the story was quite better and the character development even better. https://steamcommunity.com/id/stealthycockatrice/recommended/1373430/

Playing:
Cyberpunk 2077

Doesn't seem like I'll make it but anyway looks like this year has been okay but not as good as I hoped. I did an average for all the scores and this year the rating would be: 7.5/10

Obviously I will probably manage to finish Cyberpunk and maybe 1 or 2 more indies but they won't change the average much. If I manage to finish Cyberpunk this year, it looks that that'll be my GOTY unless it gets progressively worse from where I'm at, with the second and third place going to Doom Eternal and Ori.

100. Demon's Souls ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Did three playthroughs (knight + sorcerer + sorcerer NG+), awesome game. Looks gorgeous, plays way better than the original, what more can you ask for? The reveal trailer is probably my most watched trailer ever, it feels sooo nice when a game actually delivers.

Gentlemen, we can rebuild it. We have the capability to make the world's first enhanced store. Steam will be that store. Better than it was before.

Game 58 - Ys Seven - PC GOG - Completed Dec. 16th, 2020
I've been playing this game on and off for the past couple of weeks and I have to say that I really enjoyed it. As always with Ys games, there was an excellent mix of action and adventure. The game had good exploration and progression, really just a great title all around. I didn't find myself needing to grind much, which is always welcome in a game like this. Even though I didn't complete all of the side quests or unlock all of the achievements (one of which, sadly, was bugged), I still feel like this PSP game holds it's own with modern titles. I'm not sure if I would recommend this game as people's first Ys experience, but if you're like me and have played nearly all of the other games, I would definitely recommend it. I'm going to try and play Ys: Memories of Celceta next - as it's the only game in the series I haven't played yet - before Ys IX: Monstrum Nox releases in a few months.

Game 59 - Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order - Xbox Series X - Completed Dec 19th, 2020
I played this game last year on the PC but absolutely loved it. I picked it up for the Xbox several months ago but it didn't play very well on the One X. Now that I have a Series X, I tried it again and it plays buttery smooth. The game is fantastic and a wonderful original Star Wars story set before the original trilogy of movies. I played on the harder (but not hardest!) difficulty setting this time through - and the extra challenge was quite nice although sometimes frustrating. I didn't unlock all of the collectibles and I believe I missed a few optional areas / enemies. I really hope they make a sequel to this game because I'd love to see what comes of Cal, Cere, and the crew.

101. Vanquish - 7.5/10
I played Vanquish 10 years ago and thought it was a pretty cool game, but not for me. I Played and beat it again last week and I still feel pretty much the same way. It has all the right action game ingredients in it, but something still feels missing.

2832011-dkc3.jpg

102. Donkey Kong Country 3 - 9/10
This game is underrated as hell. Admittedly I have a nostalgia bias here, but I still feel this game is just as good as its prequels and also one of the best platformers of all time, even in 2020. Music is obviously not as catchy as DKC2, but it does fit in with the game's art and helps to create a pretty unique atmosphere. Every Switch owner should play this one (and the prequels!)

capsule_616x353.jpg

103. Cyberpunk 2077 (Series X) - 9/10
Without the technical issues (multiple crashes, visual bugs and mute characters) this would be a 10/10 game for me . Love the writing, characters and world building sooooo much. Combat and driving were surprisingly enjoyable as well. I've clocked in ~50 hours and done most of the side jobs, will probably start a new character when they release the next gen patch.

Got to around 40 games. Will at least try and update my original post before the year ends. I blame Covid and Anime.

Managed to tear through a decent amount of backlog while still hitting a handful of new releases, and thank God for Gamepass for providing me with 23/45 (roughly half) of the games I finished this year. Such a tremendous service, made it pretty difficult to show too much love to the Sony or Nintendo side of things.

As an aside, probably my top 10 games finished this year were:
1. Death Stranding
2. Yakuza 0
3. NieR: Automata
4. moon
5. Hypnospace Outlaw
6. Chibi-Robo!
7. Fuser
8. The Messenger
9. Journey To The Savage Planet
10. Bugsnax

The order keeps shifting in my head though, and feels sorta wrong to not include Ori. Too many good games to really say I guess

EDIT: Squeaked out GTAV as the 46th

I only beat 3 games this year. Dark Souls 3 for the fifth time, Demons Souls for the first time on PS5, and I got a platinum in Astro Bot on the PS5. I’m playing Bloodborne again even though I have a Platinum in it.

Edit: I beat 5 games, I forgot about GoT (got the platinum) and helped my son get a platinum in Horizon Zero Dawn( still love the story so much).

So I compiled all of my completed games into a spreadsheet and created a chart by platform.

The Switch dominated my 2020 games lineup by a pretty massive margin. This is probably because I can easily take it with me to work where I can usually squeeze in a bit before work starts and during my lunch break.

2020 was a great year for gaming, I hope everyone has an excellent 2021!

I ended up playing a lot of games this year, but only managed to beat/finish 14 of them (mainly because of time sinks such as MLB the Show 20, CoD: Modern Warfare, & CoD: Black Ops Cold War) so my goal for 2021 is to try to go back and wrap up/beat as many of the games that I've started but haven't beaten yet. Which is honestly gonna be a tall order, but doing it means I'll have completed the 52 game challenge for 2021 as there's at least 60 games that fit that description dating back to 2017 including a couple of "doozies" such as Horizon: Zero Dawn, Ghost of Tsushima, Crash Bandicoot N.Sane Trilogy (I have beaten the first Crash game, haven't touched the rest of the games in the collection), Crash Bandicoot 4, Luigi's Mansion 3, The Messenger, Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3, Super Mario 3D All Stars Collection, Ori and the Will of the Whisps, The Last of Us Remastered (mostly because every time I touch the damn game I somehow manage to get the game save bug which keeps f***ing me out of hours of gameplay and making me restart the whole g**damn m****erf***ing c**ksucking game all over again), Red Dead Redemption 2, Borderlands 3, Judgement, Final Fantasy 7 Remastered, Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Collection, Kingdom Hearts 3, Bloodborne, Hollow Knight, Ratchet & Clank, Shenmue 2 & 3, Celeste, DOOM Eternal, The Witcher 3, and Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 1 & 2 to name a few off the top of my head.

It might be cheating but I just set goals for myself in games I play throughout the year. Take Rocket League as an example, I'd consider collecting all event items a completion as would finishing one of the Rocket Passes. So for something like MLB the Show, I'd consider finishing a season a completion.

Normally for games such as MLB the Show 20 & the CoD games I try to limit myself to beating the story mode,10 hrs of online gameplay, and/or 20 hrs of gameplay in general, but lately (as in the past couple of years) I've found that I'm usually only in the mood to play one of those games (a baseball game or the latest CoD) unless I play a game that completely grabs my attention long enough for me to beat it or want to attempt to do a 100% completionist run (which really slows me down) so that's something I gotta work on for 2021.
