FuRyu debuted new gameplay of Caligula, its new PS Vita RPG written by the writer of Persona 1 and Persona 2‘s story, and developed by Aquria, at the Dengeki Game Festival today.

Hopefully this link works from where the gameplay footage starts.

Comes out on the PS Vita in June for Japan.

Still skeptical due to it being a title under the FuRyu umbrella though...

One of the past GAF links that Takao had posted that has a bunch of other info in it.

So rough...

FuRyu please. I want to like your stuff but you release borderline kusoge.

There are things to like, just so unpolished.

Looks unnecessarily complicated, and the action is hard to read.

Not really, this appears to be one of those game systems where to get the most efficient damage output chaining together attacks is the best option.

Then again Id be more concerned about the overall package considering FuRyus history lol.

At the student information screen, there was a 10/560. So, 560 students in the whole game? And we can interact with all of them? Holy shit if so. The battle system looks interesting, but my concern is the difficulty. Either it will be to easy if you play more or less perfectly the whole time and are able to oneshot enemies, or it will be to hard and punishing if you don't do that. I hope the game gets more than 1 difficulty to somewhat counter this.

And west release please, this does look quite enjoyable.

This is my biggest concern and stops me enjoying so many games. If they nail the difficulty here I can see myself enjoying this.

The only game I've noticed referencing Furyu was Lost Dimension, and I really liked that. Hopefully this'll be the same! (If it gets localised)

Yup.

I watched the whole event live but don't understand much Japanese, did they say anything about how the timeline (upper right) work or if you have limitations to the "try different tactics" part?

Did they mention if it was a coincidence that both fights was against only one enemy or if this always is the case?

Did they talk anything about different environments or will the whole game take place inside the school?

How do you think they will make the combat dynamic without some sort of emphasis on skill when executing the attacks (like the active combat in Exist Archive or Valkyrie Profiles). Maybe the enemies has different attack stances/states, but from what I know this far that would only mean that you have to dig deeper into the menus to find the right attack, right?

I really hope that this game is as complex as I'm hoping for it to be :)

I think it looks great, the last step in game development is optimization, right?
I think it looks fine too, I was just joking about the fact that they literally said that development is 50 percent complete when they announced it (less than a month ago), but yeah, the performance/stability/general polish phase comes when the game is in a near final state, afaik.

I really don't get the hate for FuRyu. Sheesh, I enjoyed their games, they don't churn out kusoge game after game like some companies I can think of.

I didnt know about the game but sounded like could be interesting.
I came in the thread and I see OP carries an anime image for user.
Aaaaaaaaaaand of course its an JRPG.
