Activision Confirms Three for PS3 Launch

Near the end of its Q3 earnings shareholders conference call today, Activision executives confirmed that it would be releasing three titles for the U.S. PlayStation 3 launch. Though an exact release date for the three titles was not given, it was stated that the games would be out before the end of Fiscal Quarter 2007 -- which translates to sometime between April 2006 and March 2007.

Unfortunately the most important bit of information -- namely, the titles of the launch games themselves -- were not provided.

We'll have more on this developing story as it comes to light.

Quake IV?
CoD II?
Tony Hawk Pro Skater II?

Tony Hawk American Rehash-land

Gun - PS3 extreme edition! (now with less indians)

Spiderman something or other

It begins.

Depending on release, I'm going to say THAW 2, GUN 2 (Both of these actually look next gen on PS3 and 360), and a Call of Duty game.

I don't think Quake IV will come to PS3. Those guys at id and Raven don't like the PS3. But Activision might get some other dev to port it to PS3.

my sources tell me one of them is a PS3 exclusive currently in development at Activision's canadian studios and it will be a 3rd person action/platformer called "DMczaf's Adventures in Dick Land".

Revolution only!

One of them is bound to be Tony Hawk Bugaloo: Hey guys, 10 new slapped together levels that are inferior to some bonus 'old skool' levels back when we gave a shit

I think EGM mentioned Ultimate Spider Man 2 was one of them

I swear to god that it better not be Chase->Boss Chase->Boss Fight->Chase->Save Citizen->Boss Chase->Boss Fight-Chase,etc. with all the boss fights being exactly the same. What a piece of shit USM was. Not even the story was memorable.

what about the PS3 'quality line' that's suppose to be in place to prevent shovelware ports? :D

I thought they were there to prevent shitty media being released like what happened with the 360, stuff like wallguy.

That only applies to when Sony shows off PS3. MS should have done the same, instead they chose to show shit like PDZ :lol

No it applies to games in development. No upgraded current gen games on PS3, well at least not from Japan.

I predict Activision will repackage the PS2 versions of Gun and Tony Hawk: AW2 in PS3 boxes and no one will be none-the-wiser since the PS3 is backwards compatable.

I like you :lol

Hey, a real next generation Tony Hawk is always worth a look.

The leap from THPS1 to THPS3 was quite nice indeed. I know it's fashionable to bash the franchise, but even skipping an iteration here and there; I have fun with it.

Here's to hoping Neversoft pushes the PS3 and doesn't just give us sloppy seconds like they did with Xbox360.

You can pretty much rule out Gun.

You think Sony is going to greenlight a year old port of a PS2 game for PS3 launch?

no but they will greenlight whatever month old PS2 activision game is out in Fall 2006 for PS3. And they'll like it too.

That may work for MS but Sony wont allow it.
Just think were there any PS2 games released along side a PS1 version?

didn't EA make Madden 2004 for the PSone?

Yes, they did. They also made Madden NFL 2005 for both PS1 and PS2. EA also made the last official PS1 game to be released in the US, which was FIFA Soccer 2005. Of course, there was also a PS2 version of that game.

Do Gun and Tony Hawk Xbox version work on X360?

Nope. Nothing in the least bit new works on 360. Port conspiracy? Just could be.

Activision, please stay away from the PS3 & continue on w/ your 360 ports. If anything, bring Quake Wars over- nothing else.
