Yeah, I've seen a bunch of collections like that on Assembler. Sealed collections blow my mind. I actually play the games I collect. I am the bane of some collectors. I opened my copy of Panzer Dragoon Saga, for example.

But hey, how many people can claim they did that? That they were the first to actually play the copy they own?
Same, I'd open just about anything without a second thought to play it. I actually opened a copy of ultra vortek for jaguar about 6 months ago to play. It's not panzer dragoon saga, but its still uncommon.

To be fair nes and snes games don't need a baller a/v setup. Mostly you just need and big crt and a good set of stereo speakers.

Hehe NeoGeo AES folk are mostly insane from what I have seen I doubt many of them sell their whole collections.
Has nothing to do with the TV. I understand retro needs/setups. It is more the actual room and shelving, etc. There are some game collections rooms where the shelving alone probably costs more than my entire house. But then again, I have been to peoples houses/apt who earn +500K combined and they are tacky shit holes, so I don't know why I assumed he wasn't loaded based on decor.

I would put this guy on suicidal alert.

I once sold out my PSX collection when I was in my early adulthood. I can't remember exactly why... that part is erased from my memory. The stuff of nightmares.
I think it was around 50 games (mostly JRPG). It has been 10+ years and I'm still recovering from that mistake. I mostly got all those games back but not in the pristine condition I had them. It can never get back to the glory it once was. NEVER ! *goes to cry in a corner*

Live you where?
Folks who post on ASSEMbler usually have too much of a good thing. Yakumo, who runs Segagaga Domain, has one of the largest SEGA Saturn collections I know, with rare stuff like realtor showcase demos and products used in Japanese game shows.

its an impressive collection. However, I think the collection gets a bit weaker during the sixth generation. Maybe he grew up and didn't had time for games? There's tons of PS2 games he should've gotten.

I didn't know Ultra Vortek was uncommon. I opened my sealed copy of that many years ago...

These aren't of-the-time collections, collector's rarely work that way. These are aftermarket collections. This guy is collecting stuff he dreamed about when he was a kid/teen. In 5-10 years you'll start seeing more killer PS2/Xbox?GCN collections (although many definitely exist already).

That's an amazing collection. I've seen his collection posted before, I don't know if it was on GAF or on reddit. I am positive that I've seen those Gameboy games shelves before.

I can for most of my games (including PDS and SF3 :p)

I don't know why but it's slightly painful to watch a collection being sold like this. I don't have any significant collection of my own but I'm slowly working on a Dreamcast collection and I don't think I can bring myself to sell it.

Really? Because he wants to sell the games? He's actually selling it to potentially finance the purchase of a new home; if you ask me, he's a man who enjoys his hobbies and knows when to take care of his family. You can certainly do both, and he's wealthy enough to do so.

This is honestly one of the most beautiful things I've ever seen in my life... Why would anyone want to get rid of such a collection?

Amazing.

It also makes me think of how cool it is that all the info contained in that entire room can be stored in an SD card.

He's a collector. The reason so many are saying this guy will regret it is because collector's have a common mentality. Yes, there are tangible benefits of selling this stuff, and the benefits arguably outweigh owning the games themselves.

But collecting isn't rational. This guy will miss this stuff. Nearly all collectors who sell stuff like this do.

Sure. But the majority of collectors are also not extremely wealthy individuals with the luxury of time and money to spend collecting. He seems to have both, which makes the collecting a time investment that he, in all likelihood, could again spend.

Not saying he won't miss it. But he is able to reacquire it, which is a luxury that more of us wish we could have.

Part of the joy of collecting is grabbing and acquiring stuff which you likely cannot reacquire. I have lots of one of a kind stuff. If I sell my collection, I could build a similar collection, but it'd never be like my old collection.

Like I said, this is irrational behavior to begin with.

Ehh.

Ive never found these things impressive. Looks like a waste of money.

Least his collection room doesn't look like it reeks of stale sweat like some collectors.

I know a guy who, while not having a collection quite this big, has built up and sold the thing 3 times. I'm active in the local collector community and most of us would never dream of selling our collections, but this guy really enjoys it. He doesn't much care for actually keeping the games and is more interested in the thrill of the hunt.

Still, a very impressive collection.

Nice find!
It isn't me, but could have been :D

I'm not too much into nintendo collecting (i have a solid gamecube PAL collection and a completely sealed wii-u collection), but otherwise have a comparable (and possibly larger collection) with complete PAL sets for most of the sega systems (all boxed, complete, etc.) as well as complete sets for many obscurer systems like odyssey2/videopac, vectrex, microvision, etc. and solid collections for ps1/ps2/ps3

For that kind of money i'm tempted to sell as well, so i don't think the seller will get anything close to the amount he is asking, especially for loose carts.

Jesus christ, that's pretty awesome. I don't think I'd want to own all of that though, only the games that I'd actually be interested in playing. Still though, amazing.

I'm not sure what the guy does, but he's fucking loaded. One of his videos (possibly even that one) starts showing off his collection of sports cars.

Do we know why this person selling his collection? I have seen this collection before and the owner is also on Reddit.

Something among the lines of a child and buying a new house.

Interesting. How can a child make you sell your collection? What is the point of amassing a collection and only to sell it later? A collection of this size is worth keeping it than selling it. I would understand if it were a small collection.

I mean, why spend all that time, money and energy and then get rid of it all later?

A digital collection could/will never drop jaws like this which is sad.

Collections like this are mind blowing, especially when they are as organized and well kept as this one appears to be.

I fear though that after all is said and done if he will have an "oh shit" moment of clarity at what he has done. I still crumble thinking about the pristine Turbo Express I sold when I was stupid and how I wished I would have kept it.

Buying a house for family > material collection?

Feel honored just being able to look at the pictures.

Might be the best museum quality gaming collection on the planet?

Only one Vita game I could see though, which is kind of perfect.

If it doesn't have the rares it's not worth it.

NWC? Little Sampson? Stadium Events? ect.
