I can't wait for this game but my God, October is seriously packed. I've been tempted to make a platform specific list for all the releases to look for and I'm even afraid of do it.

Looking forward to this, but with the announcement of Occulus Rift support, I may just cancel my PS4 preorder and get it when I get my Occulus.

Sounds like a once in a lifetime opportunity to play in this world for the first time with the Oculus Rift.

Day 1 for me. Alien and Aliens are two of the scariest movies I have ever seen and this game is looking just as intense.

It looks like there is some sort of challenge mode. Cool.

I also like that there is no xray mechanic that is seemingly in every modern stealth game.

Not too hot about looting bodies and containers. But whatevers.

I do wish they worked on making the alien look more slimier like in the movies. It would add to the scare factor.

The upper half of the creature is perfect. The smooth head is Geiger's design compared to the 1986 Cameron one.

The legs are where they went wrong imo. They are following Resurrection style for the legs

The alien looked freakier in the first couple movies partly because it could walk around like a person if it wanted to. But to each their own.

game looks fantastic, i wonder how many times they've watched alien studying absolutely every single detail cuz it shows.

unfortunately i don't think i will be able to play this not being able to stand scary games which is crap.

Absolutely agree; the original Alien was very unsettling.
It was at both times familiar (humanoid) and completely abstract (face with absolutely no emotive abilities, deceptively tall, etc). In low light from a distance you could mistake it as a person, but that misconception changes quickly as the creature kind of 'unravels' as it stands up or moves. Add to that the disturbing 'Kane's Son' moniker that was given to the creature during production and overall it's just a very creepy package.

It's just a horrifying concept and aesthetic all around.

As much as a love ALIENS, turning the xeno into insect-like cannon-fodder for pulse rifles definitely removed a lot of the scariness and discomfort of the design for me. The creature just seemed to become more and more animal-like as the series progressed.
In some instances it made sense (in Alien3 it is 'birthed' via a dog... or ox if you watch the Assembly Cut), but yeah...

WTH...I thought there were no weapons in this game and was pure survival horror in isolation. That gun (other weapons) and other NPCs around have diminished my interest down some notches.

Jeff's impressions on this weeks Bombcast are leaving me a bit skeptical and on the fence. I suggest anyone that's interested in the game to check it out.

There has always been weapons in the game. They're mostly hodgepodge creations.

The weapons don't do much. The flamethrower can only be burst twice when full and an EMP Bomb can only stun a synthetic. You never feel like you have any great power which is what makes the game unsettling.

That's "Dr." dofry to you.
This is my most anticipated game for fall. I sooo much want to watch that trailer but I am consciously on a media blackout.

Are there any spoilers which we haven't seen since the initial reveal?

Are there any dead space people on this team? Has some of the same aesthetics.

Haha nearly bit.

Game looks great, I think I'll hold off until after release though. The idea is fantastic, I just don't know how/if it'll play out over a full 8-10 hour game. I hope they can deliver a story & well paced campaign to match the idea. T

He gave Ratchet and Clank the wrong score. I can't trust the guys opinion.

Cameron's queen already walked on its toes. I don't see why it's a big deal really.

If there's one complaint, I don't like the glowing eyes on the androids. Should have kept the natural look from Alien and Aliens.

Different model. The 82s always were a bit twitchy.

It's not the fact that it walks on toes, it's the bent legs. The resurrection ones walk like a mechwarrior. All systems nominal. Speaking of toes, though, the queen literally had high heels. Fun fact.

Only complaint was that the NPC did not see the bright flaming light under the desk he was walking right next to (in the IGN footage).
I was a bit worried about the introduction of weapons at first but the recent videos fixed that. Weapon can be used against non-alien NPCs but its not a good idea to use them unless you have to, and they will get you into trouble. Sounds good.

I'm glad that the player has to take into account the humans and androids. Dev said that they could range from beneficial to detrimental to your progress (which sounds good) but made it seem that most of them will be enemies. I hope that isn't true because I think it is a bit unrealistic that most people would for some reason be against me. I think on a spaceship being attacked by an alien I should be able to find some reasonable people who are like "holy shit this is bad, youre human lets be friends" rather than "who are you, im gunna kill you"

The android in the demo seems to be an enemy. In one video I saw it's because the player was hacking his system, which makes sense. But if the player doesnt touch the system, can I just casually go up to him and hang out?

I may not be able to play it because of motion sickness... Still buying it to find out, though. :)

Freud's theory of the uncanny is completely appropriate here. Heimlich, unheimlich...
