Don't. The Prime phone is awful. If you want a cheap android phone get the Moto X or Moto G

I'm not following this logic. If you can get the Google Play Store on this device... what is the issue? You get much more CPU, storage, and capability compared to the Moto G and X.

You can get a brand new LG G2 on eBay for around $200. Or a new 1st gen Moto X for the same. Unless you need Amazon prime or love shopping I still don't see the point of this phone :/

Tech support? Updates? How long before Amazon drops this phone. I know LG won't support the g2 forever either...

Link to the G2 for $200. And the Moto X is sadly a dual core S4.

Do not buy this. Almost every impression of the software and user experience has been poor.

Did you read Somnid's thread?

Amazon's recent phones have been such flops.
There is only one?

This wouldn't be a bad deal if I was in the market for a phone. I use prime anyway, so getting a decent quality phone for $90 is a pretty good deal.

I am a full-on Amazon devotee, but I wouldn't use one of these even if it was free. It's just such a misguided product.

Gah this is such a tempting offer... My phone just broke and i am currently unable to call or text people...

the review i just watched was very offputting as well...

honestly i don't really even have the money for this right now...

also, i think i would rather use an android...

I'm really surprised by the negative reaction here, got mine during Black Friday, there really isn't anything bad about the Fire Software it's not a bloated mass or anything, it's simplistic and convenient and seeing the ease you can add Google play on it, I think it easily outrank any other phone at a similar price point.

If only you could install a custom ROM on this, it would be a decent deal. Phone specs aren't that bad for the price with Prime tossed in.

It's a great phone at an amazing price. You won't find a phone with specs like that around this price range, hell the Moto G is going for $200 and it is lacking spec wise compared to this.

I'm kind of tempted to grab one since my Moto X first generation feels like it is running slower and slower by the day.

It was actually on sale not too long ago for $189.99 on there, probably ended recently. Still a better buy at $216 though.

I'm highly considering grabbing this through PayPal credit but I am still a babbie and have no idea how credit works.

Am I going to be paying more money in the long run, or is it still the advertised $216?
I know this is a very silly question, I just want to know what I am getting myself into.

Also, does anyone know if the phone works with MetroPCS? Both my parents are on MPCS so I figured I would get an unlocked phone and jump in on that, which is why I was looking at the Fire Phone in the first place. I am seeing some people say it does and others say it doesn't....

I had this when they first released it. They just now released an update that allows you to customize your background.

It's 2015 right?

No, just the phone. No more fees. Other than the prime renewal after a year.

And it works on T-mobile, so it should work on MetroPCS

Currently using an iphone 4 that's showing it's age. Would this phone be a good upgrade from it? Also I'm on tmobile

It's fully unlocked, at least Verizon version. I personally got the same for 190 bucks a month before and used it on T-mobile. Next time maybe read description.

Oh?

yeah, it was further down, my mistake.

Gonna get one for my mom. She needs an android phone with access to the Google Play store.

Edit: Welp, nvm. No LTE.

The '14 Moto X has a 800. And only yesterday was on sale--64 GB version was $350.

Nice.

I use this phone still. Got it for Christmas. It's pretty easy to put GApps and such on it, but there are some wrinkles.

That being said, pretty killer for the price.

I was actually talking about the LG G2, not the Fire Phone, but I'm extremely conflicted. I really need a new phone and I can't decide between the two.

Fire Phone seems ok, and I really love the idea of Prime, but I am not in a position to upgrade to a new phone every year, so if they drop support or it's not very good I'm screwed.

Does HearthStone run well on it?

can anyone post impressions?

i need a new phone badly, and im not too worried about specs. i just want it to be smooth, and have access to all the apps. oh and group text, my current phone doesnt group text.

the phone + prime makes me at least consider it.

The reason to get the phone is it's cheap on sale. It's not hard to turn it into a Google look-alike but if can get a similar Android phone for a similar price then it's not recommendable mainly because you will have to work to get the same thing. Amazon just updated the firmware in the last week so they are still committed to it, at least at the moment. As far as its special features go, they're neat but I wouldn't assign much value to them as they don't overly change the way you use the phone and dynamic perspective can strain the battery. The phone itself is adequate but doesn't seem to excel at anything in particular.

Amazon does not carry a phone version of Hearthstone but you can get it from Google Play if you choose to sideload that. I'd imagine the performance to be similar to most other devices with a Snapdragon 800. I doubt you'd have much of an issue with it.

Is it just me or did the new update improve it's battery life? I turned off all the dynamic effects just to have the battery last at least a day.
