Amazon Zero Time Dilemma Preorders - Aksys Watch Tax in Europe is 10x Atlus Tax!

My watch is supposed to be here tomorrow, but yeah I'm really worried about how it's actually going to look when it arrives. I feel like this whole time there had to have been some easier solution than what it actually came to.

So this glue and broken cases proves they lied and are shipping out original watches? Crazy...

Or they may have salvaged some that weren't as badly damaged and sent them instead. Whatever the cause, this is unprecedented fuck up by Aksys.
I actually feel sorry for Amazon for the amount of money and headaches caused by Aksys.

Just got home and got my watch. Despite the bubble mailer, my case was perfectly intact. Ordered my original copy with 2-day shipping if that makes a difference.

Here are the pics. What may look like cracks are actually tape and the glue thingy.

Edit: Watch works perfectly and I just set the time and date. Only scuffing is where it's supposed to be. Screen is perfectly clear with no scuffs or cracks.

Dunno what happened with mine. Was supposed to be delivered on Friday but now it says 2 days more to reach. It's been at the nearest hub since Thursday. :/

Amazon started shipping to my place recently with an Amazon carrier. They used it twice this week for orders I made and both times it shows delivered, but never showed up. Then, this watch was shipped with the Amazon carrier and...yup, says delivered but nowhere in sight. Apparently the watch has cursed all of my Amazon shipments.

I'll contact customer support, but not optimistic that they have an extra watch to ship, or even if they do, whether it will get to my house properly.

The amount of time and money this is causing is pocket change to Amazon. Aksys already issued $10 credit, now watch, and shipping. They are not making any profit from this.

I took photo of my busted watch and emailed CS twice. They are sending me a replacement.

Is the rubber strap on the watch replacable with anything standard? I want to use it but I doubt this rubber strap will last a week.

Thankfully it was the B button missing from my watch. With a toothpick I was able to set the time/date and only the A button is used after that.

Edit: my watch is also missing the metal clasp at the end of the strap, haha... :x please be replacable

Guess who just got a $44 refund on their credit card!?

I do know that I wont engage on any Aksys purchases in the future for sure

How did you get your refund for import fees? The reps keep telling me that you have to wait 60 days (so 8th November) even though I got a promise from another rep that it would be refunded as soon as the order shipped out, which it has.

yea, if it has the glue, it might be the watches they ripped off the games' packaging. i mean, why would there be glue and why are all of them cracked to hell?

You sure the rep didn't say something like "up to 60 days"?

I tried it once but it says now that the watch doesn't ship to my address and I don't have the money to let myself get billed for the import fees even if temporarily, so *shrug*

hope no other international customers got that too

No email for europe yet.
Never buying a game from Aksys again, what a shitshow.
Having to pay 100$ for something that was supposed to be free is ridiculous.

Just finished chatting with an Amazon chat representative and my Import Fee refund will be processed within 3-5 business days. The Amazon representative personally notified this issue on my account in order to help speed up the process which was kind of him. Much better than the within 30 days estimate that was mentioned at first by another Amazon chat representative

May I ask what country you're in? Are you concerned that your local customs office might seize the watch if they see it's valued at $500.00 & demand fees?

Amazon will pay the import fees, as far as their system is concerned the customer has paid the import fees.

Mine says "Preparing for shipment" but just sent a quick email asking them to try and pack the watch securely because of reports of broken cases.

Once again, this is not completely on Aksys.
Amazon is really one party to blame here because of these horrendous import costs which are most likely created automatically because they offer the watch for $600 instead of just sending them out to everyone who pre-ordered the game via the "Pre-Order Bonus" choice.

It's really ridiculous, but Aksys is really not to blame for this specific thing. That's totally on Amazon.

Aksys is partially to blame by creating this situation in the first place, pulling the watches from the games and now, apparently several months later, shipping the damaged ones anyway...

From what I can see they essentially forced Amazon to come up with a solution to a situation not conducive to how their system works thanks to the creation of the situation by Aksys themselves

Received an email that mine shipped and will be delivered on Monday but something tells me it's only gonna be 1 watch even though they promised they would include the 2nd watch and that there is no need to order a second one >_>

I wish more people would do this. Aksys is a shitty company and i'd prefer other publishers to fill their void.

Sorry, gonna keep on buying from em. Like their products and the quality of the games I buy from them I enjoy. Big screw up over a pre-order item doesn't dissuade me, if anything it might make me wary to order any limited editions. And while they are going pretty big into otome games, that audience will be there as well.

Even then Aksys is not completely responsible.
They're not manufacturing the watches themselves. They're ordering some outside company to do them.
It's a total bummer that the fault was not detected any sooner but the actual manufacturer for the watches is really to blame for fucking up a whole bunch of watches in the first place.
I'm relatively sure that Aksys won't work with that specific company together again.
Pretty sure some people got fired because of that, too because these faulty watches mean a whole lotta money lost.

Now this is just how I see it, mainly because I did that kind of work before, so I'm speaking out of some experience with this.
It's just unfair to bash Aksys and only Aksys for this situation when they are only partially to blame, and even then it's really only the smallest amount they are to blame for, mainly because of their not exactly outstanding communication with the people who pre-ordered the game and the watch.

EDIT: Oh, and no, I don't think they forced Amazon to come up with a solution. Amazon emailed everyone beforehand that the watch will be shipped as soon as they get their batches.
Gamestop apparently shipped them without any problems at all, if people in this thread are to be trusted. They didn't do some shit like offering the watch for $600 bucks and sending out codes to reduce that price to $0.
Amazon created this shit. Instead of using their data banks to look who ordered what and simply assign those buyers a new $0-order that has only the watch they instead had to pull this ridiculous stunt for whatever reason. It's ridiculous and unprofessional for a big guy like Amazon to do something like this.
I can't see Aksys having any fault in how Amazon operates.

As publisher, they are responsible. It's their job to manufacture the products and make sure that they get to the distributors on time to ship out. They can't just shift the blame on the outsourced companies they used.

He's saying they're not 100% responsible, not that they aren't responsible, the manufacturing was out of their hand, they're not a huge company who can have a division for manufacturing+packaging. Publishing involves numerous steps, manufacturing isn't something they evidently, had control over. The roundabout method Amazon have used to get the watches to their customers is at fault for the import fees & shipping it in a bubble mailer may have caused damage to the casing+watch.

I get where you're coming from and you're obviously free to keep buying from them if you want, but I think the problem is bigger than just a screw up over a pre order item. People who ordered the watch edition had insane delays in getting their games, of course, but so did people who ordered the regular edition. And the worst part is that throughout the situation, their communication has been utter garbage. The first reassurance was that Amazon totally had everyone's games and that it was on them that people weren't getting them until we found out that Amazon definitely didn't have everyone's games and that we'd been fed lies for like a week at that point. Then there's the part where they insisted that people shouldn't cancel their orders because everything was going to be okay. Add on the fact that they basically lied about shipping people new watches in the end and it's much more than a simple pre order screw up. It's also pretty bad that most of these "updates" came from an employee's page instead of the official one for some ungodly reason. The main Twitter only retweeted some of the tweets, which I'm sure left a lot of people who didn't follow Danny in a pretty confused state.

I just got my pre-ordered games this week, so it's not like I haven't been affected. My copies got stuck in an Amazon fulfillment center which isn't on Aksys (literally I had emails back and forth with Amazon over my copies, they kept 'fixing' issues but then never sending it and delaying it week after week), but it was a bummer. I guess seeing the amount of extreme anger from some people I just can't relate exactly to it. I agree they dropped the ball pretty hard, but it hasn't been a consistent enough issue for me (I've had zero problems with their prior releases) to just be done with them in that manner. I have dealt with other publishers where I just got frustrated with how they do things and couldn't keep on supporting how they operated.

Just got my watch...

Right side of the case has a giant crack running up it and smaller cracks on the front. As well as a piece of the right side of the watch being broken off. There are two circles of glue on the left side so I think this is one of the damaged watches.

You enjoy supporting scummy companies and that's your prerogative.

Anywho my watch arrived and there is only a small crack in the case but the watch itself os fine. Finally my long nightmare is OVER!

Just got my watch. Cracks on the casing and I see two pieces moving around in there, but the watch itself might be ok. Will take a look later.

Got mine today. The case was fine but the part that holds the watch wasn't pegged in. The watch was upside down with the face resting on the bottom. Luckily it's working and there don't appear to be any scratches other than the intentional painted ones.

shipping it in a bubble mailer may have caused damage to the casing+watch.

As proven by chrissylas, almost all of these watches were already damaged prior to being packed (although I don't dispute the bubble packets have damaged them further) and as proven by everyone else due to the watch dates and glue spots that match up the glue spots on the back of the game shrinkwrap, these ARE the original broken watches. Regardless of what Amazon has done regarding the pricing and import tax fee (likely a result of them not having a proper back end method to deal with Aksys' problem), or the fact that they are packing them shoddily, these watches are being shipped out to people broken in the first place - and THAT is on Aksys.

Just got off a chat with Amazon, they offered to replace the watch if I sent the damaged one back but I just said fuck it. Going by what we know the replacement would probably be damaged too and I'm just tired of dealing with this shit. I know I'll definitely think twice before buying another Aksys product.

Exactly, I highly doubt they ever got replacement watches like they said they were. They just shipped out the broken ones. Which is even more fucked up when you think about how they were selling perfectly fine watches at conventions and shit. I tweeted at them about this but I doubt they'll answer.

I'm from Canada, and both my watches were delivered with no problems. Looking through the tracking history it appears that customs did not even seize the packages at all.

what? amazon has given way more than askys has in this situation. with credits, refunds, free faster shipping, etc., having a strange workaround for getting the watches out is the least problematic thing, especially as it seems they're refunding any fees related to it. askys hasn't done anything but pass the buck and now that the watches being sent out are the original damaged watches...it makes them look terrible and this whole situation even more of a joke

I'm not saying that's not the case, but there's no actual proof that this is the case either[I'm not defending Aksys, but I'm not jumping to conclusions either]. The comment was about Aksys being 100% responsible for every fuck up during this process, which they aren't. Obviously if they didn't have the delay etc in the first place everything would have been fine & it wouldn't be damaged , but how far down the chain until it's not Aksys' fault, I don't think it's fair blaming them for everything since their initial fuck up. 90% of what's happened has been due to Aksys though, I won't refute that.
Also,as others have said, Aksys never said the whole batch was damaged, they would have kept the watches which weren't damaged. Them sending watches to only a select few and then making others wait 2 months would have been worse for PR. The cases being cracked etc could easily have happened during shipment from Aksys to Amazon , in the amazon warehouse etc etc. The fact that some people have been recieving watches that are fine means you can't prove it either way.

They way that my watch is broken has nothing to do with how they're being shipped or anything. One of the side buttons is just broken off. Nothing is touching it, the watch was secured perfectly fine in the case. It was broken before Amazon even got it and I've seen other people on twitter saying the same thing. Along with still having the glue on the side where it was attached to the game tells us that they're sending out the old damaged watches.

Even if some of them weren't damaged, why would they risk the bad PR of sending out watches that could potentially be damaged? Why not just send out all new watches instead of selling them at their fucking con booths?

This is completely on Aksys.

This makes me curious as to what actually happened here.

So we find out a large portion of watches were damaged in transit, and Aksys says they need get new ones produced and it'll take some length of time.

Not long after, they've suddenly got watches to sell at an anime convention, which they apparently express ordered just for the con. I don't buy that at all, those were obviously preorder watches that had survived the trip, especially considering how long the current "production" took. I doubt they sold many, as they were going for $50 each.

Now people are receiving watches, and they're blatantly the damaged ones that were initially shipped, still with the glue attached. What the fuck was Aksys doing for the past 3 months if these aren't even new watches? They didn't have to be newly produced, they were just sitting in a warehouse somewhere. Why the wait? Why the song and dance if they didn't actually do what they said they were going to do?

This whole thing is goddamn perplexing, and has really soured me on Aksys as a company.

How's this for imagery?

For anybody questioning if the cracked cases are Amazon's shipping fault, I can definitively confirm that it (mine at least) was damaged like this prior to shipping. The watch was sealed inside of a plastic bag, which didn't seem abnormal to me at the time, but upon opening it I realized that it was done because the giant missing piece caused the black bottom cover to come off.
And because of the seal, I know that the missing piece of plastic was never in the package to begin with, nor was the bottom cover, nor was the missing metal clasp or B button which had all fallen out before being re-sealed.

Why would you actually want to wear it?

It's a cool, functional watch! Just with a bad strap. Mine is missing the display stand anyways. Any reason not to, besides value?

If my watch comes all busted up im asking for a full refund of the game. Gonna tell them I only ended up pre ordering the game to get it with the bonus watch. They took forever to actually get me my game and send me a broken watch after all this time. Im done with Aksys, I wouldnt be surprised if Amazon will be done with them too. We'll see.

So this is pretty cool.

Goddamnit.
