Depends on the game. At 1440p they´re closer, at 4K it does not matter much at all. But for some reason FC5 favors Intel.

Gaming benchmarks have already been posted. Windows boot times, application launching, office 365 applications and Web browsing are all faster on Intel.

This is previous gen but the difference is substantial enough to where 8700k is still faster than 3rd gen Ryzen (you can run the Web benchmarks yourself for comparison).

That is one of the main reasons why Intel is dominating the world of office hardware.

If you look at those R15 results, you see Intel hasn't improved from the 8th gen, currently on 10th gen, all they can do is bin some chips above 5Ghz, which is basically the end of the line for clocks, they need genuine architecture improvements to catch up to the soon to be released Zen 3(Ryzen 4000 desktop, non APU).

Intel gives:

- More stable performance across larger quantitys of software and games.
- Better DX11 performance ( better drivers )
- more support from devs because majority of players have the cpu's.
- better framepacing ( unless u buy shitty intel cpu's that simple lack cores or threads )
- top end performance in games and better lows for more stable gameplay as it has more performance.

AMD gives:
- Cheaper alternative to intel
- provides more cores for the price intel gives and has higher core amount cpu's for gaming ( even while zero games make use of it at this point ).
- Pci-e 4.0

This is cherry picked. Far Cry 5 has terrible core utilization, a 4 thread (not core, thread!) CPU is all you need GPU limit the game.

Compounding these results are one of those for the 3950x's multi-core performance. As you can see, an Intel processor that has four less cores and runs at lower frequencies (Intel Xeon Gold 6126) has a higher score for multi-core performance in Cinebench R20.

You don't say, $4000 Xeon CPUs used in data centers score higher than a consumer aimed $750 one

Still Intel deserves this rude awaking basically milking the same products for the last 5+ years, zero innovation, releasing new motherboards every 5 mins due to so much being integrated into the CPU. Shady business practices years back. No idea what happened to this company from the early Pentiums to core2 duos then I series then they just seem to stall and bring in meager updates.

It's a corporate company that initially launched a great product with no competition so they do little to each product stack afterwards and let the money roll in for the shareholders. Thankfully their house of cards is now blowing down...fucking clowns.
