I saw some debate on this in one of the npd threads. According to gamasutra Xbox Slim is beating PS3 Slim for those who wanted to know.

a little surprising. But I think MS can point to LIVE's more socially-inclusive nature as something of a reason why people keep choosing it over the PS3 which has a hardware advantage of its own to point to. that and the only place to play Halo, which still matters.

I expect this to change when Gran Turismo is unleashed. but not before.

Wasn't the PS3's boost due largely in part to the concurrent price drop to $300? The Xbox slim is still $300, so I'm surprised that it's having such a large impact on sales. Although, was the cheapest 360 dropped to $200 at the same time? There just isn't enough information about the SKU breakdown for me to make sense of this so I'll just shut up.

I didn't realize it until I put in my TV kiosk thingie, but it really is smaller. And plus I get to sell my router and 120 gig. A no brainer deluxe.

I think GT has more potential to move consoles than both of those franchises. Will it sell more game copies than either? Probably not.

It's pretty safe to say that 360 has US and UK territories locked, while PS3 has Japan and mainland Europe.

For Sony's sake, I hope Gran Turismo sells bucketloads. Because they have literally nothing else to prop this holiday up. LBP2 will be a strong seller for a niche title, but it's not going to push any consoles. I suspect Move is going to be DOA.

I am insanely curious to see if Kinect sells consoles to anybody, or if that bad boy is going to be DOA as well. It's certainly neat gaming tech, but oy, what a price. If MS could have had the 4 gig machine + Kinect for $199, they would have a chance at outselling the Wii.

At $100 more than the Wii, though? Good luck Microsoft, especially with a slew of no-name shovelware-looking garbage.

Yeah the XBox brand has really grown quite a bit in the US. I dont know what happened after the PS2 got so much love from everybody. I think the console lacks some cred with the shooter audience from what I can tell.

I have real doubts this Gran Turismo will do as good as everyone thinks it is. Heck I bet the next Need for Speed by Criterion does better. Sim racers just dont seem as popular as they use to be.

EDIT: I'd be interested to see how much this means in terms of dollars spent, persumably Sony is leading in that regard, but also in terms of the money that makes/costs the first parties, which in that regard Sony is probably losing, but then taking in costs of replacing fucked RROD consoles, in that regard I guess MS is losing.

Neither did FF7 spinoffs, GTA spinoffs, Metal Gears and God Of War.

And I think it's a far stretch to say that just because people didn't go ape shit on the PSP means it will not be welcomed with open arms by millions of PS3 and soon to be PS3 owners.
