Rehost of that HTC video. So it's basically the HTC flagship from a few months ago with new specs and a dumb squeezing thing.

Something about squeezing a slippery metal glass phone just seems like a bad idea.

Any of y'all squeeze a bar of soap before?

Z2 play Z2 Force.

They need to differentiate from last year will still keeping compatibility with them mods. Seems like only so much they can do lol.

I'm actually really liking the sound out of the Jaybird X3's. Bluetooth really has come a long way from even a few years ago. I mean they're not as good as my wired Philips Fidelio X1's but I went in not expecting anything remotely close and they are a lot closer than I would have ever expected. They're actually more than plenty enjoyable for everyday listening as opposed to just working out as they are intended to used.

The 8 hours rated battery life actually seems like a semi-honest claim. I really think they can get pretty close to that rating from the way I've seen the battery drain so far while listening to them.

As far as wireless earbuds which are connected by a wire go, they seem pretty well-thought out in terms of what you do with the wire that connects the two buds. They come with some clips which you use to shorten the wire until the wire runs directly and snugly behind your head, which prevents the wire from jostling them out of your ears while you're working out.

The buds are fine to listen to except for one random aggravating flaw: When you turn them on, a voice screams in your ears "POWER ON - CONNECTED TO PHONE- xx% REMAINING" and then plays a short stock music sample at like 1,673 dB. Whoever made this voice prompt that fucking loud needs to be dragged out into the street and beaten until they are unconscious. I literally can't put the buds in until after I've powered them on because of this. You cannot control the volume of the power on voice prompt for reasons I cannot fathom. What the hell, Jaybird?

Overall, I think these headphones are pretty great. For the sale price of $100 they seem like a very good value. I'm not going to throw away my Fidelio X1's anytime soon but the world of wireless headphones has certainly advanced a lot in the past few years.
Yep. Wireless is good enough for the general public. And wireless is so much more convenient. It wins.

Hilarious at that start up voice prompt. Typical electronic manufacturers just trying to put a bunch of nonsense they think is cool. It's like blue lights on hardware. Ugh.

Wait, why does Netflix or any other service has to update for each device individually? If they update the content they provide to a HDR spec, shouldn't that work with every device rather than providing support for each device individually?
Because peak brightness varies too much (on mobile especially), and the UHD alliance spec for mobile has literally only been ratified for about three weeks so not all the implementations are consistent yet.

And yes, it also requires per device DRM assessment.

This won't unusual at this point in a new at standard. HLS was much more fragmented for its first year, you literally found implementations for some handsets caused others to hard lock.

I ordered Airpods a few weeks ago, I should get them in early June. Didn't feel great spending that much money but I find headphones too bulky and most earbuds are too invasive other than Apple's and the knock offs Amazon made for Android so Airpods were the only contender for my money.

At least I won't ever drop my phone again because of the earbud wire getting caught on something.

You also need the high end netflix to get 4k HDR lol.

I have no clue why I'm still subbing. I've not watched anything on Netflix since January.

Samsung and Intel chiming in support against Qualcomm in that ftc suit lol.

Would love me some Exynos Samsung phones in the US. Would be devastating on Qualcomm if galaxies stop having their stuff in the states.

So I went with the V20. Bell had a promotion going on right now on the LG phones. Was able to get either $300 trade in on the v20 or $400 trade in on the G6. So essentially I only paid taxes on the phone on a 2 year contract. I ended up going with the v20 for a bunch of reasons...

- Big screen
- Superior sound (built in DAC)
- ability to shoot in RAW format for photos.
- Removable battery
- 64gig on board memory
- expandable memory via Micro SD.
- 2016's easiest phone to repair.

I was going to hold off for the XZ Premium but the in addition to upgrading my phone I was picking up a phone for my wife (her first). So I went with a Pixel for her. Sales rep knocked off $100 off that phone if I decided to go with either of the LG's that day. So all I had to do was pay taxes on that phone also.

If I waited for the Premium I likely wouldn't have had such a savings. Probably wouldn't have got anything back in trade in on the Z3. And there no doubt would have been a $200 - $300 price point even on a 2 year contract with the XZP.

I'm liking the v20 quite a bit. But I will say this...

I already miss my 2 forward facing speakers on the Z3. Why these companies think it's a good idea to have 1 speaker located on the side of the phone is beyond me. Aesthetics be damned!

V20 is good depending on the price. Its audio (input and output) are the main standouts. Battery life is iffy and it's hefty even for a 5.7 incher.
Only had to pay taxes after the trade in of my Z3. (2 year contract...but I had no intentions of going to any other carrier).

There's a high chance that some carriers in Canada will have the XZ premium. Which carrier are you with?
I with Bell. I had a couple of conversations with them both instore and online. It sounds like they'll be getting it. But they had no idea when.

Xperia XZ Premium review: http://m.gsmarena.com/sony_xperia_xz_premium-review-1610.php
more of the same

but, the camera is a bit improved? Decent job Sony!
And OF COURSE this comes out the day after I picked up the V20.

Anyone got an LG V20? Thoughts? Feedback?

(Other than possible bootloop....)
Just did on Saturday. Reasons above.

Honestly, the sharp hard edges is the only thing that annoys me about the current Z. It's very similar to the iphone 4 which people praised but which I hated the hand feel of.

It looks fine imo, especially for the $400 option, but once you start going up in price, this is post s8 world now. People rather have sex screen than overpriced moto mods.

Android has been doing that for ages (at least, my 2 years old budget android phone was able to do it).
I'm in different time zones all the time and I don't recall my Nexus phones ever doing that.

Xperia XZ will be 750 with an almost 300 euros sony bluetooth headset as a gift in Germany (mdr100bt). Amazing value on it, ofc only for those interested in having a BT headset. UK gets a 60 pounds headphone as a gift, and the other European countries do not get anything

Surprisingly close, probably negligible difference in actual real world use. Not the gulf the S7 had.
still wish the memory management is less aggressive. Like wth is even the point of having so much, or even offering 6gb in china haha.

3gb phones like moto z play is better at this than samsung stuff.

I was cracking up at the likes of Intel complaining.
Intel has gotten rekt in mobile so they actually have a valid complaint.

I'm surprised Nvidia hasn't gotten in line to take swipes at Qualcomm too, it was some of Qualcomm's predatory pricing which helped prevent Nvidia from breaking into mobile too.

Of course Nvidia doesn't need mobile now because they have AI and deep learning, plus they have essentially established total dominance over their traditional gaming market, plus Nintendo Switch has been a massive success. Qualcomm can get fucked.

WTF they looked at Samsung and said

Hold my beer...

4. All the AI assistants in one phone

Three brains are better than one, says HTC, so inside the U11 you'll find not one, not two, but three AI assistants devoted to you: the HTC Sense Companion, Google Assistant, and Amazon's Alexa. Wow, that's a heck of a lot of virtual assistance right there! HTC also touts the squeezable U11 as the first smartphone to feature hands-free wake word access to Amazon Alexa.
WHY?

Seems like the concept video was bullshit haha. It's basically 3d touch the frame. You ain't scrolling lists on yelp or something like if the frame is a track pad or something.

At least it should work in cases. But as with any new tech, it's just gonna work in HTC apps that no one uses.

Any other cool things that I might be missing?

Well it also does all the nougat stuff. Double tap multi task button to quickly switch between the last app.

Hold multitask for split screen.
