Any sites covering the NIS America press event?

Classic Dungeon is really good. It's super complex, broken, and ridiculously short on content (although the DLC helps A LOT, hope it's included) but what is there is real quality. Hope they make a sequel and build on it.

Maybe they're not bringing out Prinny 2 because it's fucking evil and makes you break your psp

>:(
You're not kidding! The final boss in the original is just stupid. I could squeak by every boss in that game except for the final one who requires you're able to play like a freaking master.

It took them 14 months to make that sloppy mess of AT2 itself. :P

EVERY Gust game since Eternal Mana (except curiously, Atelier Annie) has taken a year, give or take a couple months from the Japanese release to cross over.
Yeah, it did, so a year plus localisation time doesn't guarantee it's going to be an awesome job... but after they were forced to apologise for 2 I remain hopeful. In this case I really don't think a spring release is particularly surprising.

A very light chance of Neptune, but I'm not so sure on that one.

I figured Ar Tonelico III would come out winter this year, and then Neptune in maybe spring, but if Ar Tonelico isn't coming out until spring I figure probably summer at the earliest for Neptune. Maybe Totori in the fall next year.

Prinny 2 is harder & much more cheap bs than the original. The first few stages are fun and then it just got way too frustrating and I almost broke my UMD in half. Prinny was hard, but doable. Prinny 2 is not doable imo. Game didn't need more cheap deaths :(

The production values are nice, but it's my least favorite N1 game.

So what games are announced? No Totori announcement? :(

At the very least, NISA recently hired a new script editor, who seems to be a hell of a lot more competent than whoever did the editing for the first two ATs. He recently did Disgaea Infinite and Trinity Universe.

-Classic Dungeon "Cladun"
-Zettai Hero
-Ar tonelico III

I wouldn't expect a Totori announcement in the near future since we haven't even got Rorona yet.

WHERE THE FUCK IS PRINNY 2 YOU FUCKING ASSHOLES I'LL FUCKING KILL YOU IF YOU DON'T BRING IT OVER AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHH

(This is what someone needs to say at the Q&A session)

The editing for AT2, at least, was being done by a guy who was super, super overworked. I think it was one of 4-5 games he was working on.

Part of the history of AT2 is that it was kinda rewritten on the fly with suggestions from the testers

I kinda wish I could have been on the team. :/

Plenty of games get tweaks and rebalances for US release. All the more reason it should be brought over.

No you don't. The only thing that could've helped the game was time. The European AT2 is the NA AT2 with more fixes, and it's the best English version.

prinny 2 on ps3
See, this is the kind of suggestion that makes me think somebody got confused along the way about how PSN works. We saw it earlier with one of those Twitter accounts where people starting asking if something was playable on PSP and PS3 when they meant it was on UMD and PSN. I mean, it's crazy talk. It sounds like the kind of thing somebody makes up and says they heard about it from "my dad who works at Capcom and gets all the games early even the ones that aren't announced" to sound cool on the playground. Why would they give up the potential revenue of putting out the already-existing PSP version for $40 when their only hope with a PS3 version would be doing it as a downloadable PSN title for $15 max? IT JUST DOESN'T MAKE SENSE. NONE OF THIS MAKES SENSE. Why are they only just now announcing Classic Dungeon and Zettai Hero? Were they hoping we'd all just forget those games existed so they could dump more horrific Gust/Idea Factory abortions onto us? Were they hoping that we'll continue to gleefully devour the raw, uncooked flesh and gore of titles like Trinity Universe, Mana Khemia PSP, and Last Rebellion, the blood smearing our faces and hands as we greedily rip and tear? The lifeless eyes of Flonne and Etna stare out at us as their hair bobs traumatically in an endless mechanic cycle, their voice actresses reciting dry scripts written by the most cynical of men, translated by the most desperate, and untouched by the pen of anyone with wit, glancing at the clock between every sentence, wondering how much longer until this session is over and they can go home with a paycheck. Oh, but this is such a sad outcome! It's clear now: the one worth getting animated and several PVC statue variants is me, Gorgeous Dessert Scavenger Etna (pronounced Gorgeous Desert Scavenger Etna). I wanna be an anime heroine; let me argue, too! Outsiders should stay on the outside of this issue. I'm sorry, I need to stop and load for a while.

Nice announcements. They are all games I'm interested in and will buy.
Although, I would have liked for Antiphona to be announced as well. Can't have everything, I guess.

If only it supported 60Hz!

Also, for those who don't know the reference: Qoga is a Hymmnos language word meaning "ending".

Whoa they really slimmed down their localization output...... i mean 2 PSP games just 1 disc game and a PSN exclusive...so much stuff!!!! and a Spring 2011 game...

Spring 2011 for AT3, to be more precise.
I expected the late release, so I'm happy it's coming at least. This the one Japanese game currently out or announced for which I need a localized version.

Should have chosen kvyeire :P

You theres probably two more PS3 disc based games, that wouldnt have been ready to show (Disgaea 4, that Neptune game). I guess Disgaea 4 will be set for localization release in Summer 2011, and then that other game for early Fall. lol, I hope

Thanks for the clarification. While I love the series, I'm not exactly fluent in Hymmnos. :-P

Yeah yeah "omg omg where are all the games"

It's not like they had a huge set of releases in the fall of last year, if memory serves me right.

If you look at their press event page from last year http://nisamerica.com/pressevent/2009/ then you can look at the titles shown off (and despite an earlier poster saying they announced 9, that is incorrect, some were announced before the party, albeit some in passing).

Sakura Wars delayed till March, Last Rebellion came out in Feb, Badman and Phantom Brave both in summer, etc.

I'm ok with them not sitting there throwing out tons and tons of games all at one time, because we know at least they can put out some good localizations without being bogged down, and taking the time to do AT3 and do a much better job than AT2 sounds good to me.

And for all we know, they can still announce some smaller titles by the end of the year, or even at the very least have something in the works that'll come out either the end of this year or winter.

It's just amusing when people respond how they do when companies don't have tons and tons of localizations ready. It's not like they're thinking "well we hate our fanbase, let's not bring anything over." Considering they put a lot into Sakura Wars V and seemingly didn't sell as much as they'd hoped, they seem to be going for the smaller titles along with some of the few they can get rights to for the handhelds.

The embargo just lifted, so here's the email NIS America sent out to everyone that went to the press event last night:

And here is a message from Mr. Niikawa, Producer of Disgaea series and other NIS titles.

"My name is Souhei Niikawa, and I am the producer of Nippon Ichi Software.
Thank you very much for coming to NIS AmericaÂ’s press event tonight.
From this year on, Nippon Ichi Software will limit the number of titles we release in a year.
We are doing this to improve the game quality, and also to increase the customer satisfaction.
The games that have been showcased here tonight were strictly selected and developed with this new policy. The first title is Z.H.P. This is our latest dungeon RPG that has been created by the same staff members of Disgaea 3. The project began soon after the release of Disgaea 3 and for 2 years it has been under intense development to formulate the game system. WeÂ’re proud to say that Z.H.P. was made to surpass the Disgaea series and, also it is a title with all of our know howÂ’s and ideas we build upon combined in to. To describe how confident we are about this title...
Let's just say weÂ’re as excited as the time when we first developed Disgaea.
This is a title that we would like to nurture into the level of Disgaea, so please help us.
The 2nd title is Cladun. This is a hack & slash type action RPG.
This title also has some of the same staff members as Disgaea and it is highly addictive.
As our wish it would be great if you can help these 2 titles grow.
Oh and one last thing. This year the latest Disagea will be released in Japan and it will be for the PS3. Plans to make Disagea evolve to a new level and also plans to surprise everybody is in progress. By the time Tokyo Game Show comes around we will be able to release more information, so please look forward to it. Thank you very much."

Awesome, so Disgaea 4 is confirmed for this year (in Japan). :D

I like how they go on about how they want Zettai Hero to be better than the Disgaea series, but announce Disgaea 4 anyway :lol

Far more interested in Disgaea 4 anyway, though I miss the days when NIS would make lots of SRPGs that weren't Disgaea, like Phantom Brave.

ZHP is for PSP.

That's cool to hear about AT2, and I guess it gives me hope for AT3. Sucks because AT2 seemed like such a good game. I couldn't get past all the bullshit, but maybe they've learned their lesson for the future.

Full titles:

Ar Tonelico Qoga: Knell of Ar Ciel
Cladun: This Is An RPG
Z.H.P.: Unlosing Ranger Vs. Darkdeath Evilman

Best NISA title since Holy Invasion of Privacy Badman! What Did I Do To Deserve This?

Cladun should have had a retail release as well.. i hate this PSN only games specially RPG's..

Antiphona and La Pucelle Ragnarok were highly ignored though and seems they dont care about Gust portable games...
I guess they're cutting corners due to their financial problems.

Antiphona isn't worth it. I played the JP version for a while, it was pretty awful.

Yay for ZHP, Cladun and Disgaea 4. Hope they'll bring Prinny 2 too !

I doubt they could just leave Disgaea series behind completely, isnt it their best selling series?

Though its hard not to be excite for Z.H.P.: Unlosing Ranger Vs. Darkdeath Evilman, lol!

Hopefully that Ar Tonelico game is open for people who havent played the previous entries...

I like those titles. Well, except the Qoga part.
Hope they won't bomb, I'll be picking all 3 anyways.

I was mostly interested in La Pucelle Ragnarok since it's a prequel to Disgaea plus it has a new ton of content and new game + wich the america version lacked....

Pretty much, which is why they keep making them.

Not really, they're pretty closely linked to each other. I'm not sure I could recommend 3 to anyone who hadn't played 1 and 2 first.

Well thank goodness, lol!

Ar tonelico Qoga: Knell of Ar Ciel is the final entry in the Ar tonelico series. The game features all new characters with a new story, so even if you are new to the Ar tonelico series, you wonÂ’t have any problems getting into it!

They changed Rorona's boxart, from the one they previously revealed- or is that just the premium versions boxart?

Uh, you should probably read. The original boxart is still the same. This is a premium package I posted about in another thread.

Lastly, I have something very exciting news for Atelier Rorona fans: We have decided to make a premium package including a hard cover art book. The game and art book will come in a premium box with Rorona artwork on it! Yay! Also, we launched the official website for Atelier Rorona: The Alchemist of Arland! Enjoy!
