It's somewhat a joke, but there's truth in it. I really don't understand why the standards for being a male porn star are so low though. Unless they're all Yakuza connected, they just don't seem like they'd have any shot of being cast in porn anywhere else. Not to mention safe sex; it's not unusual for partners not to practice safe sex as a number of people think that japanese don't carry STDs like AIDs. Foreigners probably get treated differently.
Anyway, putting a white guy into the picture doesn't really add anything for your typical customer. I'm not saying it's impossible, but I imagine it would be very hard to get your foot in the door, and even harder to make a living at it since male porn actors are paid very little.
If you have a huge Johnson, or perfect Japanese, then you may have a slightly higher chance.
