Anyone seen any good movies lately?

I recently bought the Alastair Sim version from 1951 on bluray, always been my favourite Scrooge. It came with a collrozed version, but I enjoy the black and white. I also think the Muppets Christmas Carol is pretty fun.
I love the muppets version too. I haven't seen the 1951 version in a very long time, I need to check it out again.

Saw Booksmart and while I liked it, I don't really get picture of the year praise it got. It's a solid "coming of age" type movie. To me it wasn't all that much more than that. Kinda knew exactly how the movie was gonna play out all the way through, no major surprises. Pretty predictable plot. But a solid watch nonetheless.

just took dad to Midway for his birthday. he is a WWII buff so the whole time he was spoiling stuff for me. "You see this, this is Doolittle's bombers!" LOL but it was really good and pretty damn accurate, just about everything that happened was a true thing, according to him. just a 2 hour war movie about war. no fake Hollywood bullshit. no heart tugging side story. just immersive craziness.

also on the way in we saw a giant theater stand for Star Wars IX. he pointed at it and said "I heard that movie is going to be terrible" haha i guess word gets around.

This was a weird fucking movie. It's about a guy that finds a phone that belongs to a teenager, he looks at the photos and see gorey images and finds out the kids are involved in some dark occult thingy. I'll admit that the movie really did creep me out in multiple scenes but the actual ending of the film felt a bit limp. Like it just got to the good stuff and then finished. I don't know if I'd rate it good or bad. I'm confused.
ah well

An NYPD detective searches for two cop killers as authorities close all of Manhattan's 21 bridges.

Go see the movie but don't have high expectations, it might feel like Black Panther in a cop thriller lol and at this time of the year when movie fans are only waiting for the next Star Wars movie you got this one Chadwick Boseman thriller that movie watchers are making light of, I think its worth a watch (1 hr 39 min) I think they kept the time down also.

I got really bored last night and watched Tall Girl....it was pretty bad but it was simi entertaining because of how cringy it was. 3/10 has a little something for everyone.

The sister was pretty fun and weirdly enough Zahn puts in a surprisingly heartfelt performance as the dad but yeah it's fairly run-of-the-mill otherwise.

Started watching the Mandalorian or how every you spell it... so far underwhelmed. It's not bad, not bad at all, but it just seems flat and rather boring. Maybe we've had so much bad Star Wars that when something comes along that is not awful we freak out and celebrate?

Parents and I just traded Disney+ password for Netflix.

Wife really wanted to watch stranger things 3...

Anywho that sucked.

Watch “In the Tall Grass” instead. Pretty decent and interesting horror movie (not very gory).

It's one of the highest quality movies I don't like. I can watch it. I can enjoy many scenes. But taken as an entire movie, I just don't care and I can barely even explain why.

I also re-watched Jackie Brown recently. I liked it a lot the first time I saw it many years ago but the rewatch was not kind.

Yea just finished. Gotta admit the ending is very satisfying but the journey to get there is like a roller coaster. Like one scene, get pissed at Tarentino for shoving feet in my face the next.

So you have the opposite to a foot fettish?
lol
Just a mental tick I have when anyone uses a movie to push a secondary agenda be it politics or wank material. He has all the signs. He picks ugly feet, covers them in dirt or something gross, and smashes them against stuff like a windsheild for example. That's his thing, I respect that... but god damn leave me out of it!....lol

I fucking hate him for that. Tarantino has the WORST taste in feet. If they look fucked up or are dirty he's into them.

i'll eat it like groceries
And yet you'll complain about feet which are cleaner :pie_thinking:

this iron sky movie is a real piece of shit, thats also turning out to be kind of awesome. i havent finished it yet, but its good for a watch if your okay with a movie not taking itself seriously (like at all lol, in fact its basically a comedy), but also trying to be cool about it at the same time

I randomly decided to watch The Grand Budapest Hotel for a 2nd time. I remember liking it back when it came out (2014 I think), but I think I enjoyed it way more on this re-watch.

Arrival was great. (If you like space sci-if)
Nightflyers the Netflix series (based off of a GRMM novel) had a lot of flaws but still found it enjoyable overall

I watched the first Iron Sky and I honestly got bored half way through it that I don't have any motivation to watch any of the others.

Finally saw Parasite and liked it a lot. I didn't think it climaxed as well as it could've with the insane build up with it ramping up and ramping up more and more as the movie went on, but it was still satisfying enough and one of my favorites of the year.

Ready or Not was pretty good. If you like that kind of dark "comedy" like that I imagine you'd like Housebound as well.

May watch Midsommar or It chapter 2 tonight.

I'd also recommend As Above, So Below. It's pretty good and on Netflix.

I watched The Devil Rides Out last night, an old Christopher Lee horror movie about devil worshippers.

Featuring a surprisingly exciting car chase and many plot twists and turns in the third act. If you like Rosemary's Baby and The Wicker Man, give it a shot.

Zombieland: Double Tap was definitely not a good movie, but since I don't see any other movie threads I might as well moan here. The whole thing feels like someone wanted to make a buck off a successful movie and managed to convince the cast to return 10 years later. Thing is Sony didn't have a good idea or a good script. Everything feels so forced... the humor isn't there, Emma Stone's character acts like a bitch and makes ugly faces throughout the flick, Madison was more annoying than it should've been. The monster truck scene at the end was decent, but not as fun as the theme park from the first movie. The
Bill Murray credits scene
was actually the only one that genuinely made me laugh hard. I definitely won't be rewatching this on a regular basis like Zombieland 1.

I caught about five minutes of the new Aladdin on a plane. I was playing poker on my Tv, but the guy in the middle seat had it on and I glanced over at it for a bit. It seemed Ok. Probably better with the sound and context.

You should make a website and call it “ADD Movie Reviews”

I walked by a billboard for The Irishman. I was eating lunch and someone called me on my phone, so I couldn't actually look at the whole billboard, but I bet if I watched the movie and heard the actors speaking, the context would make it a pretty good film.

To make this less shit-posty, everyone go watch The Mule. Not the Clint Eastwood one, which is a good movie as well, but this one that you probably never heard of.

This might apply to NFL football fans, there’s a lot of Philly Eagles content here
Invincible 2006
Movie taps into the thing only a few have ever done (NFL try outs) and so you have to factor it’s a very rare situation but it’s a really exciting movie, easy to get into and has a happy ending.

It’s not a movie I’ll watch every year but it’s something I’ll work into my viewing rotation.

Lethal Weapon 1 and 2. The first two films are pretty dark compared to the later ones I think, which are in my opinion, comedy flicks with action elements. This goes especially for the first film.
