Just curious on your experience on...

* availability of popular/new titles
* what level of membership do you subscribe to
* & what's your overall feelings to it all

Thinking about getting into this simply because $7.99 for a rental at the local big chains are getting more expensive & the stock is usually variable depending on when I go.

(Mods, I should have posted it here since it would be more appropriate than in OT).

I haven't. but I've heard people have problems with them. IF they don't get their game back, you get charged so be careful.

Uh, that's not true at all. I've used them for a long time now, no problems, fast service, and never had anything lost. My friend had a game not get back to them once and he was not charged or anything (I guess they give you one freebie benefit of the doubt). I have very fast shipping times considering on the opposite side of the country. Very YMMV from what I read; some people have great success with them like I do, others hate them. I'd personally highly reccommend them, but I'm sure the next post will probably totally disagree with me :lol

Oh, and to directly answer the topic, I have the three game subscription, and I've never had to wait more than a day for a new title to ship, and I'd say 90% of the time it's in stock immediately. I live in VA and I get titles in about 3 days flat.

What's the turnaround for you to receive a game once choosen? Another guy in the OT said as long as a week, is this true?

Me and two friends here in VA all have it, and we get stuff in 3-5 days always. I don't think I've ever had anything take longer than that, it's usually always 3-4. It has to somehow vary depending on where you live, I know people who live a lot closer to where it's mailed from (CA?) who swear it takes longer, at least supposedly. It takes about the same time as a letter or any other normal piece of mail. If you're expecting faster that's fairly unrealistic really.

There have been various threads on Gamefly, search on "Gamefly" here.

oh, I think it's like that with netflix. I just assumed it would be the same.

Well to be fair shit does get lost in the mail, I would imagine places give you one freebie or something. I'm actually suprised netflix does that....makes me very very wary of them now.

Thanks, that was reassuring given I hear they are shipped from the other coast. What level of subscription are you paying for?

ps- where are you located at? I am in the Northern VA region, 15min from DC.

I'm in Southwestern VA, probably 3 maybe 4 hours from where you are.

It's not a bad service, but the ship times can get annoying. I live in New Jersey and it takes 3 full days to get it to them, then 3 full days for the game to get here sometimes 4 or 5. To compensate I never return 2 games at once, but I wish they had a place to ship on the East Coast.
As for the availability question, the newest games always have a wait status a day after it ships it seems. Otherwise it's fine.

i've always been really happy with the turnaround time, and the buy it now feature worth it alone. it also helps that i have a free year since they accidentally sent me an email saying i won a 360 (which i wasn't too mad about since I already had one)

Okay, bottom line w/ Gamefly, you can hold a game out for as long as like while your stilll an active member. Right?

I use gamefly and have no issues. Live in Colorado, and turnaround is pretty quick. Been a member for about a year.
