Anyone willing to start debating Top 3 gaming soundtracks of the Eighth generation?

What are your Top 3? No wiggle room. Across all genres. Post representative tracks, etc.

My three are Guilty Gear Xrd Rev2, Bloodborne, and Mario Kart 8. Don't hold back. But be respectful. But trash one another's choices by posting better ones. 🤷‍♀️

Persona 5 - the most stylish OST I have ever heard in an RPG and I love Final Fantasy Songs! Also felt a bit nostalgic as it definitely has that 7th Gen feel given it was supposed to come out on the PS3 as the main console.

Xenoblade Chronicles 2 - It was between this and NieR, and I think this one beats it out for me.

Yakuza 0 - Probably the most memorable songs out of all of the Yakuza games. I like the Cabaret Fever Song in particular, as well as that fight with a certain popular character.

Nothing went to waste on either three. Horizon clinches it for me though, spectacular work (and the game isn't half bad either)

I paid good money for this Dynex!
Top 3:

Nier Automata
Persona 5
CrossCode

If you don't think CrossCode belongs on this list, it's because you haven't played it. It's an all-time great soundtrack as far as I'm concerned.

Edit: Bloodstained's soundtrack doesn't belong on this list. It's utterly forgettable and feels like a rip-off of Ys music. It's an insult to the pitch-perfect SOTN and Lament of Innocence soundtracks. It's kind of shit.

FFVIIR definitely among the list...the soundtrack is incredible with lot of phase, variation and transition that even synchronize with the game location/situation/boss battle phase seamlessly..personally the stuff they bring is on whole different level

for example this

8 phases, 8 transitions, 4 guitar solos with variation from another theme inserted blend in beautifully

I think its cheating to just list every game released in the past 6 years.

Ironically, I can't think of a single OST that made my heart flutter this gen, unlike the previous ones.

I guess OSTs that touched me to the point I went to YouTube and download parts of the soundrack where ...

Witcher 3

Dragon Ball Xenoverse series

Mirror (a forgettable hentai game with an amazing soundtrack) - I mean hear this:

Final Fantasy 7 Remake

A couple of stages from Mortal Kombat 11

Not a Hero (amazing use of 8-Bit soundtracks)

And the main theme of Horizon Zero Dawn. Pretty great stuff.

There were so many great Soundtracks this gen, it's hard to pick three but I try:

- Killer Instinct
- The Witcher 3
- Sea of Thieves

Honorable (quick) mentions:
Halo 5
Assassins Creed: Black Flag
Not A Hero
Hotline Miami 1
Axiom Verge
Ryse - Son of Rome and many, many more.

I need to take a look at my collection H Home - there were so many great Soundtracks in the past 7 years that it's head to remember all of those.

5) DOOM (2016)
6) Hollow Knight
7) God of War (2018)
8) Death Stranding
9) The Witcher 3
10) Assassin’s Creed Origins

Octopath is definitely a contender for one of the slots in my top 3. Amazing character themes, battle themes, and map themes, all meshing so well with the overall tone of the game:

(one of the best RPG map themes of the past decade, no question)

My 3 in no particular order:

I wasn't a big fan of the game but Final Fantasy VII Remake's soundtrack stood out to me. One of the most memorable soundtracks I've heard in a long time; so many incredible remixes and too many songs I didn't want to end.

Hotline Miami. Killer track after killer track that gets your adrenaline pumping. It was hard killing the last guy in each level knowing a sick track would stop (although the ambient stuff was great too). Probably my most listened to soundtrack of any game I've ever played.

Death Stranding. I dunno how much music was in this game but it seemed almost endless. Plenty of the tracks in it I would think of as indie wank outside of this game but it just fit the setting perfectly. The music was picked and placed so masterfully, it contributed so much to making the game feel like a massive journey.

Well #1 is easy because it's not even fair. With nearly 1000 tracks from a number of franchises, with many originals and remixes, Super Smash Bros Ultimate isn't just the best OST of this generation it might even be the goat.

So:
1. Smash Ultimate
2. FF7 Remake
3. Octopath Traveler

EverydayBeast

thinks Halo Infinite is a new graphical benchmark
Most casuals recognize the Mario theme, and I believe Halo’s is a masterpiece.

Final Fantasy 7 remake is the best.

Witcher 3

Death stranding

FF15 and 14 gets an honorable mention.
