A federal appeals court late Wednesday lifted a lower court's order that had blocked the Trump administration from using Defense Department money to build sections of a barrier on the southern border.
"Entire Wall is under construction or getting ready to start!" President Trump tweeted Thursday morning. He said the ruling "gave us the go ahead to build one of the largest sections of the desperately needed Southern Border Wall."
Breaking News: The Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals just reversed a lower court decision & gave us the go ahead to build one of the largest sections of the desperately needed Southern Border Wall, Four Billion Dollars. Entire Wall is under construction or getting ready to start!

A panel of the 5th Circuit Court of Appeals in New Orleans voted 2-1 to remove a legal hold that had prevented the government from spending up to $3.6 billion in Pentagon money on the project while a lawsuit over the funding works its way through the courts. The county of El Paso, Texas, and the Border Network for Human Rights, an immigrant advocacy group in El Paso, contended that the government has no legal authority to use the Defense Department funds for wall construction.

Hope they spend as much as possible before the ruling. There is not much that can be done once the money is spent.

Imagine if Trump uses troops from Iraq to help build the wall if Iraq kicks us out. It would be a great move - the troops get a relative vacation in their home country (possibly even their home state), they buy some TexMex at local restaurants, and the country gets a defensive border wall. Win-win-win.

Even if the physical wall doesn't get built, the invisible wall that the administration has been tinkering with has been reducing the number of illegals coming in.

The Pentagon funds would be extracted, for the second year in a row, from military construction projects and counternarcotics funding. According to the plans, the funding would give the government enough money to complete [a total of] approximately 885 miles of new fencing by spring 2022, far more than the 509 miles the administration has slated for the U.S. border with Mexico.

The pending transfer, if not blocked by Congress or the courts, would bump up his border wall spending to $18.4 billion.
Trump is getting more done with less, despite impeachment, media lunacy, and the rest... it's shocking really.

I was firmly in the fuck Trump camp, falling for the bullshit peddled. I still don't particularly like a guy saying he'll grab women by the pussy, but the balance of good vs bad is actually pretty startling. His personal life may not be spotless but he's doing a lot of good as president, and the US will benefit from this. The UK will as well, having gone down the Boris route (and still the media don't get that the socialist bullshit doesn't wash here).

^^ Exactly. Trump says a lot of BS, his tweets are frequently childish and sometimes stupid (although I am now accustomed to the tone and kind of like it for the effects on the rabid left), but the policies? The policies are good and he does a lot of them, too. He does get things done. Yes, there are sometimes random actions which seem that they might benefit from thinking through (eg, I wouldn't take out the Iranian commander like Trump decided to - I don't think this was worth it). But mostly he does fine.

I reckon the Iran thing is going to work out pretty nicely actually. For starters, it shows that the US has stopped taking shit from tin-pot shit-hole dictators.
