Are there legitimate games on PC that look better than demons souls?

This is gonna make me seem like a Sony guy again - and may also be controversial. But my PC isn’t like super new - I have a 1060, ssd, like it’s fine just not top of the line. I’ve never had like an rtx card for example.

I’m playing demons souls now and I’m really, really impressed with the graphics and how everything seems like “solid” or part of a physical world. I dunno it legitimately feels like the art style, animation and whatever simulations or tech they’re using, whatever trickery they’ve done - it’s blowing my mind graphically. I can say hands down this is the best flat screen game I’ve ever seen.

Half Life Alyx blew me away the most in VR just because everything was built to trick my brain into thinking it was real or something and it worked - so I was more legitimately amazed by that and the fine details within VR but on a flat screen it doesn’t look like much.

I know PC’s are more powerful than the new consoles and soon will be pumping out things with this high of fidelity or more but is there an actual game out right now that looks as good as this as a cohesive presentation? It looks cgi - it’s limited in that you can’t really jump or interact with everything but things on the ground move in response to you in a fucking weirdly realistic way - people talking in the game their lips and expressions are as good as last gen cutscenes but you’re seeing it from a third person perspective in game.

I’m sure this will be surpassed within the year but is this ultimately the best looking game of all time right now? Not on a technical level in what it’s actually doing but just on the overall image/effect it produces for the viewer? Or is there something on PC I’m unaware of that surpasses this?

Metro Exodus with RTX on PC could give it a run for it's money.

There always is - as long as you have the hardware to crank everything up, and maybe stick some mods on.

It's never a fair fight. Consoles do exceptionally well for consoles because they're designed to one precise specification. Bluepoint didn't need to cater to anything other than the PS5.

Control maxed with all raytracing effects looks incredible, I would put it above DS. Also has great destruction and feels more dynamic because of it. Metro Exodus looks bonkers as well maxed.

I have to say though, I'm impressed by Demon's Souls. Looks great, they have done a very good job. Visual effects, art, design and textures are top notch.

Can you give some examples? I have a 3080 and I'm struggling.

Someone mentioned Metro Exodus above. RDR2 still. Modern Warfare potentially.

Crank those things as high as they'll go, to a 4k or higher resolution, slap on ray tracing if possible, maybe some photorealism mods and at some point, with some combination of those things, you will surpass DeS. All of which together is not possible on a single 3080, naturally.

I'll give you RDR2. Actually played that recently in 4k so not sure how I forgot how spectacular that was. I'm not sold on metro personally - need to give it another go.

I would go as far as to say RDR2 looked better even on a PS4 Pro, honestly. But given that it's one of the most blockbuster games ever made over many years longer than DeS, by possibly the best game developer on the planet, it's no surprise.

It's because the minimum spec for the PS5 is a 10 teraflop GPU. The game engine was optimized with that in mind. Its going to take time, but devs will start making games with support for the newest PC GPU's.

Depends on what hardware you're rocking. Contrary to popular belief here not every PC has a 2080ti within it, so those using something around a 1660 or lower won't be seeing that level of fidelity

Metro exodus, flight sim 2020, a plague tale innocence are games that I've recently played on PC that spring to mind and look better.

Even if you look at open world games like Kingdom Come Deliverance and AC: Valhalla they look better at times.

That's not to take anything away from Demon's Souls, Bluepoint have done an amazing job with it but I think you're off base here.

Control
Red Dead Redemption 2
Metro Exodus
Baldur's Gate 3
Cyberpunk 2077
Flight Simulator 2020
AC Valhalla

All of these imo will look better when cranked up to ultra settings on PC.

Demon's Souls is a technical marvel though to rival PC games on a £360/$399 Console (Digital Edition)

This. Thanks for the complete list bro! 👍

Oh, you forgot Crysis Remastered. Currently the best RT GI game available. It's RTX GI is amazing - even better than Metro.

Also, Detroit: Become Human. That game is still amazing looking on PC/Ultra. It was incredible looking on PS4 too.

I have not played that yet! It did look quite gorgeous from what I saw though Brother.

And yes the RTX GI implementation in Metro Exodus was a sight to behold, I am hoping for more titles to utilise it as we move into the next generation, Cyberpunk will be a great one to see.

Thank you but no.
DeS Remaster has a huge amount of very defined shadows unparalled with those you find in Control or other games. Maybe with RTX on is different.
I don't like DeS very much, but at least it looks like a true next gen game.

It is not a remaster, if it was a remaster it wouldn't look nearly as good as it does.

DeS is an amazing truly next gen title visually, but with PC games maxed out settings wise with RTX turned on they can look better than anything else.

People mention Control, but it seems pretty mediocre and bland to my eyes, much inferior to something like The Last of Us 2. Maybe it's just my taste. Metro Exodus with ray-tracing is a better contender.
Control can jump from "medicore and bland" (aka normal office building) to best looking game in one open door. With some parts being probably best looking levels of last generation (dont't want to spoiler so only two words: Take Control. Everyone who played will know what I mean). Also destruction is something on totally different level than most of other games. I don't know how they were able to run that game on shitty jaguar cpus.

Sorry but what's wrong with Valhalla in terms of lighting?:

It's very clear that some of you are talking without having seen and experienced things with your own eyes.

If you're asking if there's better looking games for people who aren't Sony fanboys and can discern differences in rendering tech, then yes, of course.
What has rendering tech anything to do with a best looking game qualification?

The RTX trailer for 2077 looked gorgeous. Obviously the game isn't out yet so I can't say for certain, but I'd say that's a contender based on what I've seen so far.

Edit for reference
your trailer stated 19 nov.
